I had to get my hair colored and was pretty anxious about getting it done soon. I actually found AR here on City Search and decided to give them a whirl based on the reviews. They were the nicest, funniest, and sweet people I've met in a long time. Talented? Amazing work on the color, cut and blow dry! I can't stop looking at my hair, and I'm not that kind of girl.

I was in the neighborhood to run errands and had 2 hours to kill so I literally was a walk-in when they were open. I have thick hair and wanted it to lay flatter, so Arthur recommended using a little razor cutting here and there for texture that didn't add too much volume. He took his time cutting it, cleaned up a few spots even after he dried it, and was extremely friendly. I wanted to go a bit shorter than he suggested and was happy to accommodate me saying that either length would work with what I wanted. He didn't make me feel rushed at all and I was surprised that the price was only $55 (before the 10% off). Normally for this kind of attention and quality haircut I expect to pay over $100. It's a shame I don't live closer to the location.

I starting going to AR Hair Salon soon after I began working in the area. I needed a haircut quickly so I just walked in. After working with Albert once, I decided to keep coming back. Basically, if you've got short hair, he's the man to see!

I was walking around and i spotted this salon that really caught my eye from the inside, very beautifully made. I wanted a color and cut and the way the outcome came out was to perfection. They consulted with me first because my face is round and i wanted a cut that would flatter my face shape. The person who cut it was Eli and he was very patient with me as well, as i am extremely picky. And Artur consulted me about the color. I m very glad i spotted this place because now they can expect to see me every couple weeks. I recommend this place to everyone because you will not be disappointed!!

I am EXTREMELY picky about my hair, rarely going back to the same person more than twice. I am happy to say that Roger is a master cutter! I love it that he cuts my hair so I don't have to fuss with it and . . . it looks beautiful! The shop is laid back and comfortable, the cost very reasonable to boot. I was so pleased I sent my daughter there (who is also VERY picky) and she loves her cut as well.

i read some reviews on city search and they were all great , so i decided to give AR hair salon a try. i made an appointment for a haircut and when i arrived at the salon they all greeted me and they were all nice, i got the best shamppo of my life i had a glass of wine and a guy named eli cut my hair and blow dryed it, i have very kinky hair and eli had no problem dealing with it. it was the best service i ever got in a long time. i would recommend this salon yo anyone. i will be a client for ever.

i used to get my hair done at high end salons .after i visited AR hair salon ,and get great expireance with team of proffesionals at AR .Artur did a great trendi hair cut and correct my color .i will never go to any other salons .i highly recomend go to AR hair salon

I really wanted to like this place. I read the reviews and expected it to be solid. I thought I liked the fact that I had a choice of expensive v inexpensive color and went with the expensive. It didn't last that long. They also said I had gotten a bad cut from a stylist who didn't know how to do it right. I said I wanted it to dry naturally (it's wavy) but they blew it straight and then charged me for the blow drying. I tried it a second time. No one remembered me, no one had my appointment in the book. They took me but you could tell it caused a stir. There was a lot of tension in the salon both days. I've found a better place, a bit more expensive but doesn't have the "issues" that AR seemed to have on my two visits.

I have seen Arthur for several years and have had consistently good service. Although his salon is not close to my home or work, I travel there because I know I will get excellent results every time, a truly welcoming environment, and personal attention at any time I need it. After only a few visits, he knew my style better than I do. I would pay 5 times the price and still feel I was getting an excellent value based on my experience with other salons in NYC.

Roger is an amazing colorist and hair cutter. I went in with dark brown hair ( after screwing my hair up by 2 other salons) and he corrected my color, made me blonde again, gave me a great haircut and sent me out the door smiling. I read the reviews on this board before going to him. You will not be disappointed. Very laid back but highly attentive staff. I will be his client for life.

Being a European woman, not many salons have the European products. Wen i first came to this salon i was alittle nervous. But when i asked them about the invetories, right away i felt that i was in the right place.

This was the best place I have ever been to for my hair. Roger is the best stylist. He cut my hair and dyed my hair excellently. This is a awesome salon with great attention to detail. I felt like a princess when I was there. Great Eyebrows stylist as well. She threaded my eyebrows to perfection. My hair is so shiny and beautiful and the haircut is awesome.

I am lucky enough to be working in NYC again where I can fiinally go consistently for haircuts at AR Hair Salon. It has been a couple years of struggling with other haircutters, and the suffering is over. I am home with my haircutter again. The best place to go is AR Hair Salon.

I tried AR after seeing all the rave reviews the salon got on Citysearch. I cannot say enough wonderful things! Not only did I get an amazing haircut from Sami - he also did the best job correcting my color with highlights - and all in record time.

This is one of those rare gems you have to tell all your friends about. I can't wait to go back - this time I'll be sure to have a glass of their complimentary wine while Sami works his magic!

Arthur and Roger have been cutting my hair for 10+ years. Every haircut has been excellent. I have introduced several friends to their establishment and the word-of mouth-continues to grow. Extraordinary value at twice the price.

I went to AR salon for a trim and didn't want to spend the high dollars of other salons. I walked out with an amazing cut. Arthur, the stylist, explained why my current cut was not right for my face and hair. I was a little nervous to have him cut since I had never been there and was a walk in but went ahead and am so glad I did! it is truly the best cut I have ever had and will go back from now on. I am getting swo many compliments and am excited to tell everyone that they have Arthur has the talent of the high-end salons but without the attitude or price.

Better then Madison Avenue - right on the 8th!
I have been a client for eight years and still amazed at the beauty, quality and uniqueness every time I look in the mirror after Roger finishes his masterpieces.
All my collegues that I refered to this salon became, without exception, regulars there.
In addition to fabulous haircuts, there is a plethora of hair treatments - so it is not just beauty - it is also health: the health of your hair.
I am about to try coloring/highlighting services here soon, as I have seen the other clients being very pleased with the results of those procedures.
But - do not hog Roger! I still want to be able to schedule my appointments within a week ;-)

I had my hair done in this salon and i can`t describe how beatiful job they did. Everyone were amazed from the unique style and beaty of it. Its been two years already and i am still going to do my hair on weekly bases. I recomended a lot of my colleagues at work and everyone of them were happy. The prices are so reasonable. The staff are very friendly. The place is beatiful and the service is great.

I would have never discovered it if not recommended by a friend...and it was a success (and an addiction) from my first visit. I am very picky, so it is surprising that two years later I am still impressed by a combination of skill (the best haircuts Ive ever had!), service and personality. The cuts are so good, skillful and artistic, that I get complements for a couple of weeks after my appointments. The service is incredibly personable, low-key, and welcoming (and everyone does know my name). My stylist is willing to go above and beyond to make me happy whether it is staying late or fitting me at the last minute. The place itself is very relaxing with upbeat music and various treats (wine and cookies :). And to top it off, prices are as if AR did not realize they are located in Manhattan.
