The gentlemen at Gizmo's more than lived up to their reputation presented here in these reviews. They were patient and helpful as my friend and I went through the decision process of how to proceed on our tattoo designs. And they delivered the highest quality product. Mine needed to be ultra straight and centered down my back and they were extremely precise. Lil John added his special touch of color to my friend's tattoo that made it unique and stunning. I will return for my next tattoo.

Michael is an amazing artist! He did a very intricate Asian geisha design on the inside of my bicep that came out perfectly. His line work and shading is some of the best work I've ever seen plus he's one cool cat! He's the only tattoo artist in Dallas that I would recommend. Shop is really clean and prices are reasonable.

I explored alot of places in Dallas, but there are not many artists that have over 10 years exp. When I met Lobo, I could tell that he wasn't B.S.ing when he said he had 25 yrs. I could also see from his portpholio that, his talent was exceptional, besides him having his own designs, which says alot, he told me he sold them with tattoojohnny and I had just been on that site, and sure enough he was on there. But I also saw his paintings, so I knew he had expierence in all phases of art, and he was NO BS. I love my tattoo.

Wondered into Gizmo's while waiting for a show at the Granada (located across the street) and was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff. Talked with Robert (wilson? I believe) about a tattoo I'd been interested in getting for a while. I made an appointment for a later date and went back and got the most amazing tattoo from him.

He's super friendly and amazingly insightful with designing what I was looking for. I recommended him to just about everyone I know and have future plans of being tattooed by him again.

If you're looking for an awesome artist with a VERY gentle hand, as well as a good creative mind, I definately suggest you go see Robert at Gizmo's in Dallas.

I found Gizmo's by chance a few years ago while shopping around for a tattoo for my birthday. Walked inside and was instantly greeted by Robert. He was super freaking nice, and extremely awesome in helping me get the exact tattoo I wanted. His work is incredible and he's the coolest guy ever. I've since been back about a million times. I'm working on my 16th tattoo and he's done 15 of them. I've recommended him to everyone I know as well as strangers, who have all been INCREDIBLY satisfied with his work.

Go to him. He's amazing.

My name is Meagan and me and my surrogate mom went to Gizmos earlier tonight to get a tattoo. AMAZING EXPEREINCE. Lil John did a Phoenix tattoo on her inner ankle. He did an awesome job. He is very considerate and polite. Very respectful. Michael G did a star tattoo on me starting at the ankle and then on to the foot. I didnt really have a star idea in mind but he drew up something and I love it. Micheal G and me talked like we had been knowing each other for 20 years. He is polite and professional. Our tattoos look great. I am happy and we will be back many more times. I have already referred my friends and we just left there like 2 hours ago. I love the place, very clean artist and they are truly artist. They need their own show. Anyone who goes there feels comfortable like we are at home because they are so down to earth and chill. They are completely professional but wont make anyone feel as if they are just there to get a tattoo and then leave. They talk you through the process and add suggestions which are better than what you have anyway. They are truly artist.

I won't go into a long "L.A. Ink" story, but these guys really are custom artists. When you ask to get something drawn, they do it. Lobo did me(my tattoo that is) and the colors are so vibarant. I suggest if you are looking for a tattoo, come here. Don't even bother going anywhere else like I started to. Every shop I went to wouldn't even try to draw up what I wanted. When I told Lobo, he just said "Well that's my job"
So go everyone. And Ladies, these guys are sexy too!!! Lobo has some eyes that are so blue its crazy, he says they aren't contacts but I don't believe him. Opps, and I said this wouldn't be a long story. Oh well.

My husband and I went to Gizmo's after finding info about them on the net. I got my tattoo from Lobo, who was one of the funniest people I have met, he made me feel so comfortable after all his joking. It was just like on t.v. I told him what I wanted and he drew it up exactly the way I wanted.
My Husband got his tattoo from Little John, who was a kind man and very informative, he went over everything possible about the tattoo,the process and the aftercare. He was able to do my name on him in a beautiful manuscript that not even a computer font could be more perfect.
You must go to Gizmo's for your next tattoo, I will go nowhere else now.

I've been in Dallas for 2 years. I have been needing to get some art done on my arm and have been needing to complete my sleeve. I came from Miami and didn't get a chance to finish it there. I've been a little hesitant in looking for a Tattoo shop and I did a google search for 'best tattoo shop in dallas' and found the reviews here. I was actually excited about this and headed to Gizmo's. I was very lucky that Jon was up next as I really wanted to have him do the work, based on the reviews I read. Immediately he took real genuine interest in what I needed and as we started developing a short relationship just chit chatting about his beautiful girls (pics on the wall) and laughing at the comedian on comedy central. He inked two new tattoos that I was looking for. One of them was a Bible verse that he freehanded and it looks amazing. We talked about completing my sleeve and he just 'got it' He wanted to know what each of my tattoos meant to me because he wanted to continue with the same emotion that is currently displayed on my arm. I loved this. I don't want to just 'superficially' say that no other artist has thought this. But it's definitely true. I've asked other artists to look at my arm and see what they would suggest and many just didn't even have a clue nor asked me what they meant. So I've been kind of bummed about it. But Jon really got it. I'll be heading back there this month to start the work to complete the current sleeve of various tattoos that are on my arm.

(by the way, the parking in the area is scarce. There is a self park pay lot across the street. but pretty much all the space around the building are taken by the restaurants. Called Gizmos first and they'll help you park it in the back of the tattoo shop. I didn't know this and some of the valets for the restaurants were a bit rude. I actually drove away and left but then came back. I'm glad I did.)

I am leaving for Pakistan to start my life out there to help others to see what America is like. I came in for a Eagle idea, and this guy, Lobo I think his name was, drew it up and did it, it took under a hour and was very,very beautiful. Now I have a piece of America to take with me.

I have been getting tattooed by Lobo for 2 years now, I would have to say this is by far his best place he has worked. Besides his ability to free hand realism to exactly what you want. but the atmosphere there is great, friendly people and not a bunch of a-holes.

First, trust the guys when they give you advice. Yes, it is your body, but they are really good and have been doing it for some time. Went in for my 4th tattoo. I gave Jon some pics to work from. He added his 2 cents. It was perfect. About five minutes into the almost 4hour tattoo, I started to get queasy. EAT before you go in, you need to EAT sugar. Anyway, Jon was cool about it. He gave me a minute cool down and they got me some candy. Finished the TAT and couldn't have been better. They didn't treat me like crap when most would have. I will go back for another TAT soon. Ask to see the Roman shield and X by Jon. You'll agree that it is pretty bad azz!

Me & my best friend went in to get a special tattoo and Robert did mine. He was so nice and his hand was so light, it barely hurt, and my tattoo is very pretty and exactly what we wanted. He even re-drew it to make it look better. He totally gets it! I'll be back~ Tthanks ROB!

I walked in with just an idea in mind and little Jon did a great job of walking me through the process of getting my first tattoo. I feel like the shading ink was more painful than the outline, but other than that it was a great experience.

This is the ONLY place to go if you want an awesome tattoo. The artist here are friendly, helpful, and artistic. They can design a custom tattoo that looks better than what you could have ever possibly imagined. Gizmos has a professional fun and friendly enviroment. If you cant leave gizmos with a tattoo you are happy with, well I guess you are impossible to please........

my husband and I went in for matching tattoos. two different artists worked on us at the same time but I don't remember their names unfortunatly. We were very pleased at how hopeful they both were and drew up our tattoo exactly how we had pictured it. one of the artists was incredibly gently and I had hardly any pain at all, but both of our tattoos now that healed are very sloppy. the lines that are supposed to be straight are very jagged and on a couple of spots on are arm he colored outside the lines (maybe should revisit grade school). I was happy about their service but the most important part is the craft and that is complete shit

My fiancee and I went to Gizmo's for our first tattoo's. We requested Rob because of all of his teriffic reviews. He took over an hour to design my tattoo and it is exactly what I was looking for. The studio was very clean and Rob talked me through the whole experience. He kept saying, "You're doing great darling." He really made me feel comfortable and I knew that I was in good hands. Our tattoo's came out amazing, they are better than I could have ever imagined. He is a true artist and we will be returning for another in the near future. After spending quite a few hours with Rob I would never go anywhere else.

After reading reviews of several tattoo parlors around the DFW area, me and my friend decided to check out Gizmo's. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted and on our way to new tattoos. The artist, Little John, found us exactly what we wanted and hooked us up. It was a great experience. I recommend anyone looking for a nice, friendly, professional atmosphere to visit Gizmo's and ask for Little John.

I honestly don't know how to put into words the gratitude I have for the work John did for me on a very detailed Gothic cross I had done @ Gizmo's. This was a tattoo I have wanted for quite some time and was super excited about and I had gone to about 4 other tattoo shops with a picture of what I wanted done and no one seemed to want to do the tatt for me (because of the detail) nor did they seem excited about doing the tatt...(which I think is important when choosing an artist)..UNTIL I walked into Gizmo's...Stephanie greeted me and was super sweet and helpful. The price was beyond reasonable and John himself was excited about doing the cross...
The tatt came out 100x better then the picture itself that I brought in and literally almost brought me to tears when he was done.
I would definitely recommend Gizmo's (especially JOHN!) =D

And to John and Stephanie if you guys are reading this...I cannot Thank you both enough...you guys are amazing...and I can't wait to see y'all again soon!!

This was my first tattoo. After many years of debating and walking in and out of random shops only to be dissatisfied, I finally found my place. Gizmo?s has what is important to their potential clients. Great artists, friendly atmosphere and a clean place. I went in to get a simple tattoo in my mind, but the Vision, (Rob Smith, better known as Jesus), had was unbelievable. I enjoyed talking with all of the artists in the shop, Lil John, Stephanie and Robert. It was like a family atmosphere and they make you feel at home. Rob drew up the tattoo and I got a lot more than I ever thought possible. He Nailed It. 4 hours later and only half done, I was so impressed with the overall experience it makes me excited not only for the return, but also my next tattoo I am planning for the other arm. My wife also had a tattoo done at the same time by Lil John. She is getting another one when I return for the color after I heal up a bit. The staff makes you feel at ease and I am sure if you can think of it, Rob can draw it and you will not be dissatisfied! Great shop, great staff, clean place and dreams finally fulfilled!

I'd recommend Gizmos - especially Rob. he's a really cool guy, a solid artist and very creative. I felt that he could bring just about any idea to reality. He is straight forward and does not BS people - which I really appreciated.

The place is super clean. The folks are a bit rough around the edges, but I guess you expect that in a tattoo shop.

My only complaint (an its a minor one) is that scheduling can be a bit of a pain. I'm not sure if they take appointments and the place always seems busy - especially on Friday and Saturday's. So I'd recommend people have some scheduling flexibility when planning on getting a tattoo.

I would definitely go back and get another tattoo from Gizmos and Rob.

Alright,........so this is how it went. I decided to go to Gizmos because I found all the reviews for this tattoo shop to be extremely positive. Called, made an appointment, and showed up. I had already decided upon a design, which I brought with me. (I highly suggest you do the same) I met with Robert. (I think his last name is Wilson) Like most artists, he sat with me and discussed ideas in how to properly apply the design and what would look the best as far as the translation from paper to skin. Needless to say, the tattoo I came with was far less than the one I left with. To say I was pleased is putting it lightly. Originally, I had thought of only getting what I had got. (A traditional Japanese koi with wind bars, covering the whole outside of my arm.) Robert thought the same. After two weeks I decided that I wanted to turn my new tattoo into a halve sleeve. My friends have said that most artists would be annoyed by having to go back and turn the original project into something else. Robert didn't seem to mind. With his help, I am on my way to a very impressive piece of art. Oh,...trust me when I say this,...I am not a plant. All the guys at Gizmos are top notch. They don't specialize in one style. They specialize in all of them. Go ahead,...check them out. Look at their portfolios. Smoke a cigarette outside with them. Get to know the artists. Make your choice based on that. Not some slick copies of tattoos from the internet.

My mom and I recently went to gizmos to recieve tattoos from Rob and Lil John, when we showed up we were kind of thrown from artist to artist due to them over booking themselves. I had booked our appointments 2weeks previous and had also brought in my mother's and my ideas to be drawn up by them. We stood at the counter wondering what was going on, but then Matt walked in on his day off to pack up some of his tattoo gear. Just as we were wondering if we were even going to get tattooed, Matt came over to us and said he would start drawing up on our tattoos. Finally we sat down in his station and started going, he tattooed it to perfection, no outlines and beautiful color, everytime we took a break, people in the shop and walking by stopped and were just amazed (even the owner of the shop said she was going to have Matt do some flowers the way he did it on my foot) Matt went beyond the call of duty and poured his soul into this tattoo and it shows. Every where I go, people stop me to look at it and ask where I got it, I tell them where, but I tell them to only ask for Matt. He did not have to take my tattoo on his day off expecially with with all of the drawing time it also included. My family will be getting tattoos next month and we have already contacted him with 8 different ideas for him to get started drawing up. If it was not for Matt and the best tattoo I have ever seen I would have not decided to go back. I am very pleased with my outstanding tattoo and his great additude...exp. for his day off.

Little Jon is an awesome artist ! I went to gizmos to get tattoo and didnt have a picture , I just new what I wanted and told him the best I could what I wanted and he sat down and started drawing. After asking a few questions and making some minor changes to his initial drawing I had a picture of what I wanted and had pictured in my mind. It was amazing plus he went over step by step the whole procedure. He made me feel very comfortable and I was amazed at the end result. He took the time and put forth the effort to pay attention to the small details that made my tattoo awesome. If you want to get a tattoo from someone that is an exceptional artist go see him! I just got a pretty big tattoo tonight from Matt, It starts at the rounded part of my shoulder and goes to right above my elbow, after meeting up with my friend at another shop that he was at getting his tattoo from his regular tattoo artist, i asked what he would have charged me and he shot a number 2x the price i paid for mine. Not to mention that the tattoo i have just recieved is probably the best tattoo i have ever seen. the time under the needle was well worth it (expecially after finding out how much this other shop would have charged for equally or less than par work) it took a few mins for Matt to warm up and converse with me, but once he did, this guy talked about some funny stuff. But i guess that none of this is really important as to what this guys work says...like i stated, it is one of the best tattoos i have ever seen and I really have been blown away by this experience, most artist i've talked to are not the easiest guys to talk to, but besides the great tattoo, time flew by for a 4 hr tattoo. If anyone is reading this like i did to find Matt, take him your ideas and see what he comes up with, I was amazed!

I told matt I would be writting a review of the best tattoo I have ever seen (on myself ofcourse). I found Matt by this site and therefore I only find it appropriate that I share my experience with the world. I got my tattoo about a month ago and kept meaning to write this, but always forgot while sitting at my computer. I was very impressed with the brightness of Matts colors, It has healed and in my opinion looks better then the day i got it. He told me it would take time for the colors to completely come out due to the red liquid coming out of my body distorting the bright colors, but once that stopped I was very impressed to see the vibrant, solid color bestowed upon my leg. I have been tattooed by all kinds of different artist, but I can now say that I have found my artist!! A lot of tattoo artist have to talk about themselves and their co-workers to build their egos up...(and trust me, it shows with a lot of the artist) but with Matt, his work speaks for itself. His portfolio seperates him from most the "artist" ive seen. I was very impressed and will return very soon for my next. Why listen to hype by other so-called artist stroking their own egos, let the work tell the story is what i say. Thx Matt. I'll see you soon

My experience at Gizmo's was very professional, yet the artists and atmosphere made the shop feel like a home away from home. All artists are very talented with custom and traditional pieces. Rob Smith worked a lot on me and I'm incredibly happy with everything he's done. He is one of the most talented and original artists Iv'e seen and has about a year professionally tattooing. Iv'e been getting work done by Rob for a while now and have watched his skills grow immensely. I like the work I've gotten there and if I see you and you like the work done on me then go check out Gizmo's. Also, Little John is the coolest guy I have ever met in my life. Word.

i had a custom tattoo drawn up for me while i waited by Rob, who has only been a tattoo artist for about a year now, but he has been an artist his whole life. he is extremely kind and loves what he does. both me and my friend got tattoos from him. Rob takes his time to do everything like you want and to do it correctly. He is an artist so his work wont be lazy or bad-artists are obsessed with their work and thrive on making it good. Unlike other tattoo parlors, Gizmo's is staffed with men who are down to earth and real people- they are not pretentious like other well known dallas tattoo shops. Rob was excellent at the work he did. I would recommend Rob to everyone. He really is awesome. I kept flinching while he did my tattoo and instead of being mad at me he was kind and understood, he even said he would touch it up for me, He is an awesome guy. If you want to go to Gizmo's but you aren't fortunate enough to get Rob, seriously all of the guys there are awesome! My friend has gotten tattoos there by three different guys, They are all really funny and nice. I've been to other places but at Gizmo's they're just better. the atmosphere is fun and exciting. the artists love tattoos, one artist has been doing tattoos since he was a kid. Gizmo's is awesome. I went to gizmo's one sunday for pricing, and a sit down to see what tattoo I wanted. The guy told me I will email you the results and come this past sunday to the shop at 3 and he would trace it and get started. Well there were no emails or ruff drafts shall I say. Had an appointment all set up! Drove about 3 hours there to get a "AWESOME" tattoo. The shop was completly closed, no one there. I could understand if they had a family crisis and all but he had my email address knew I was driving 3 hours away. REAL PROFESSIONALS would have had the common sense to try and contact me. Well he stood me up and than I had to find a back up place. All I can say is REAL PROFESSIONALS CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS!
