When the party mom booked the party on March 27, 2008 she was explained the routine of the parties and what she would receive. On all of our marketing materials, it shows what we provide. We provide: cups, plates & napkins for the children at the party, we provide Two party hostesses, we provide a Jazzy appearance, we provide cradles, we provide Birth Certificates, we provide Invitations, we provide one and one half hour of party time, all of this for a Theme fee of $50.00.

The theme that was chosen for Tegan'S party was the Sandy Candy theme. With this theme we provide little 1 and inch plastic containers that the kids pour in sand, which is actually candy. The children get to keep these after they make them. This party also gives the children the choice of picking out and animal in the store even if it is a twenty-dollar animal. ALL of this is included in the $50.00 theme fee.

On April 6, 2008, the date of Tegan??s party, when Tegan??s mom entered the store, she immediately asked why the spacewalk was not inflated. She was explained that the spacewalk had ripped the day before when too many kids were in it at a party on April 5, 2008. The Spacewalk is NOT part of the party package, it is Lagniappe. It remains in the store during parties and even when there are no parties. The reason that it is not part of the party package because they do break and are very costly to continue to replace each time they break. They are also very difficult to find on a short notice. Therefore; it is not part of the $50.00 theme fee.

The party mom was very upset immediately due to the spacewalk be deflated and commanded that we put it up. In trying to appease her we did exactly that. She said since the spacewalk was not working properly she wanted a discount. Paige explained to her that this was not part of the party but part of the store and she would not be given a discount.

Then Andrea arrives to work after being dropped off by her mother from church. She forgot her tennis at home and wore a pair of shorts, a shirt and her church shoes. The party mom announced to her party guest that Andrea looked like ??A TEN DOLLAR HOOKER!? This is someone??s 16-year-old daughter that she was talking about. Andrea felt awful. She immediately went in the storage room and changed her clothes and walked around barefoot to satisfy this party mom. The party mom still did not stop talking about Andrea even after she changed her clothes.

When Jazzy our mascot was introduced to the children by was of song. The 4-year-old Birthday Girl Tegan was scared of him and the party mom asked that we send him away. We did exactly that.

Tegan and her party guest seemed to have a wonderful time!

When it came time to pay for the party the party total was $113.13. The party mom was yelling at the workers saying she was not paying that. She wrote her check out for $60.00. Well, she cannot go to Walmart fill her basket up with items that cost $113.53 and decide to pay the cashier $60.00. Paige and Ms. Ellen explained to the party mom that she received everything that she was to receive with the party and she was not entitled to a discount. She didn??t care she said that was what the party was worth to her.

Ms Ellen called mall security to come in and handle this matter since in essence this is stealing. The mall security had come in and called for Slidell police backup due to the hostility of this party mom. By this time the party mom had left still only paying $60.00.

After Detective Brown did his investigation, he felt also that the party mom owed the additional $53.13. He called her and explained to her that she needed to return to Jazzy Bear and make full payment of $53.13.

After she received this phone call from the police officer we began receiving harassing phone calls from 6 people saying that they would never have a party at Jazzy Bear and they would tell everyone that they could about how horrible this store is. We also informed the officer of these calls.

We are sorry that this family feels the way that they do and I am sure that their opinion will never change. However; we provided this family with everything that they were suppose to receive. Each child left with a necklace full of candy, a large stuffed animal with a cradle and a birth certificate. They got their cups, plates and napkins, the one and one-half hour of party time and the party hostesses.

At Jazzy Bear, we are one of the few party places that provide so much for such a small price. Comparable places charge up to $35.00 per kid, we only charge between $10-$13 depending on the theme selected. We cannot afford for people to just pay whatever they feel like.

We booked a party for our four year old child. We were promised a play house jumper, games, music, Jazzy Bear and four helpers. When we arrived to start our party, the jumper was damaged and after about 20 minutes of trying to get it fixed, I requested that they start the party.
As an aside, one of the staff had come inappropriately dressed in white hot pants, gold high heels and a revealing red tank top. When we complained about the way the employee was dressed, she changed but our service ended.
We had chosen a theme that had the children filling plastic animals with candy that looked like play sand. We had 7 children and they took all of 5 minutes to squirt candy into the containers. There was no music or fun, or hostess involved in this process. The other adults at the party took pity on the birthday girl and started their own games to keep her occupied. We looked around for our hostess and got her to cue Jazzy Bear. My four year old was not happy with Jazzy Bear so we requested that "Jazzy go to sleep". Instead of continuing the music and dancing, they turned everything off and stood around until prompted to start the cake and birthday song. Once that was done they had the children pull their animal off the wall and line up to get them stuffed.
Instead of engaging each child to make a wish and help them with their bear they just had them pick a token from the basket, place it in the animal and then they stuffed them with no help from the children. They offered us an additional half hour, which would be a further waste of their time and our money. When we confronted management, they said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do for us. We decided to deduct the deposit amount from the final bill.
They are currently pursuing a warrant for my arrest, due to the alleged theft of $50.00 - BEWARE OF BOOKING ANYTHING WITH JAZZY BEAR OF SLIDELL!! You might be next.
