Dr. Ruiz is awesome!! Had Botox and his technique is totally painless. He really takes his time with you and loves to educate his patients. Highly recommended!

Had Botox done with Dr. Ruiz and he was AMAZING!! He takes his time and educates and welcomes your questions! Totally painless unlike some other places I went. Hear he does amazing natural lips with Restylane or Perlane. Booked my appontment already! Highly recommend!

We went here to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. There were four of us and it seemed like that was a pretty large party for them to handle. They ended up not even being able to do my daughter's pedicure because there wasn't enough time - even though we had reservations.
With that said, it's quite a lovely place and the service was friendly.

I loved just walking to get to this spa, its a great waterfront location. I think all spas should have water features of some type. They offer a lot here but I only had a pedicure and it was nice.

The owner and staff at Portland Spa and Boutique have an incredible heart for service that I have not experienced anywhere else. They truly understand the art of serving their clientele and making time stop for a moment in our busy lives where it is "All About You!"

I just want to say I had a great massage at the Portland Spa. With the stress of the holidays and the weather it was just what I needed. Park at The Riverplace(they comp your parking).No need to worry about parking is a great start to a wonderful experience.
The spa is classy and cozy at the same time.The staff was very nice and helpful.
Relaxing waiting room. The massage was right on time, and very relaxing.
I will be back!!!

I had a similarly horrible experience at Portland Spa. My boyfriend bought me a gift certificate for a level one foot massage, which was really nice since my feet had been hurting a lot and I never pamper myself. Before my scheduled appointment, I received a voicemail from the spa that was slightly intelliglble, offering me a pedicure if I wanted to upgrade from a foot massage. I never called the person back as I was only interested in the service I had booked. When I arrived the receptionist informed me that I was in luck because the pedicurist had stayed late and I would get a pedicure at a $65 value for no additional charge! That was fine with me, as I assumed I would be getting the service I had reserved and expected. I went into the waiting room, and the ambience of the spa was really nice and relaxing. When I went into the pedicure room, I had a foot soak, then very passive foot rub, no cuticle care, minor nail trimming and she painted my nails. The massage portion involved her softly rubbing some lotion on my feet for a couple minutes. I have had other $20 pedicures that were much more thorough and left my feet feeling much smoother and well cared-for. I had prominent calluses on my heels after the treatment, the black dye from my flip flops hadn't even been rubbed off, which is easy to do in the shower in a couple minutes. She was done in 20 minutes after the 10 minute soak... and I was basically out the door. I am really surprised that they could reasonably charge $60 for this service. I left her a $10 tip, as is customary in these places, but definitely felt slighted. I was especially disappointed because I thought I was getting a 15-minute foot massage. I will not be recommending this spa to anyone and will not be returning... parking was also a disaster.

Wow, I bought my mom a body scrub and a massage for her birthday and she totally enjoyed it. She said she has never felt so great after leaving the spa. Her massage therapist was a male but she managed to be comfortable because she said he was super nice and polite and he had amazing hands and pressure! I forget his name, but she said he was a pro! She also enjoyed her body scrub she found it to be very relaxing also. Overall, she said the place was beautiful and the service was very attentive. Thank you for giving my mom a fabulous spa experience! You guys are sooo...not over rated! Thank you for living up to my expectations! I will be coming in with my sister and my mom in a few weeks. Your guys are worth every penny! Thanks again!

I went to the Spa yesterday for a massage. Within minutes of walking through the doors my mind felt more at ease. The people there were so nice and caring. The spa was spotless and the rooms were big and well lit. My massage was divine! It felt like Molly new every spot that needed work (kneeded work?). She was excellent. I would recommend going there for anyone who wants a no bs high quality massage in a great location. The Portland Spa and Boutique couldn't have done it better. Thanx!!

I recently got a microdermabrasion treatment and loved it! My skin felt so smooth. They even give you a mini facial afterwards. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and most importantly not PRETENTIOUS!! I am recomending this spa to all my friends.

I had my first facial at Portland Spa and was pleasantly surprised to find how relaxing and rejuvenating the experience was. Adriana was personable, calming and professional. I felt so relaxed that I had a hard time not falling asleep! Adriana showed me a simple daily skin care routine and 11 months later I've had maybe 1 break out! Very impressed.
I also had a pedicure done by Ashley, who also takes great pride in her skill. She was charming and reassuring. She even expressed concern on where I wanted more focus in my pedicure. I felt very comfortable. My nails looked perfect and natural and the polish lasted over a month! Highly recommended.
I also had a waxing done by Erin, who, again was very personable, relaxed and proficient. The waxing was quick, clean and painless.
The entire staff is professional, friendly and personable and eager to make your visit the best. I wish I could hang out at Portland Spa and boutique all day every day.
I cant wait for my massage!

I have been coming here since they first opened and have always had a great experience up until about six months ago. I don't know what is going on there but they can't seem to keep nail people. It also appears to me that they changed their products and my polish never seems to last as long as it used to. I live in the area so this has always been easy for me for me but the service seems to have gone down hill and I don't think I'll be going back anymore.

This past weekend I received a PS Pedicure and manicure, it was one of the most relaxing spa experiences I have had. The moment I walked in I was happily taken care of by the staff, they went above and beyond anywhere I have been. My manicure and pedicure were great, the foot and lower calf massage felt amazing, and my feet are so soft, on top of all that my nails look great! Highly recommend the spa, cool location, easy parking.

I wrote a review about my experience with their pedicures, to which the owner promptly responded and extended an offer to refund my money to try another service. I finally took them up on it, and I must I say, they went above and beyond to accommodate me and make me happy. Not only did they credit my gift card, but they made a special effort to call in someone not scheduled to work so my friend and I could have massages at the same time. My massage with Katie was excellent! My friend also thought her massage was great. The owner and Kat were quick to respond, eager to make-up for my first experience, and overall very very genuine in wanting to do so. I believe they take their customer service very serious and deeply care about making their clients happy--anymore, that goes a long way, especially for someone like me who doesn't make it a habit to complain.

I LOVE THIS SPA! THIS WAS MY THIRD TIME HAVING A TREATMENT AND ONCE AGAIN WAS AMAZED AT THE PROFESSIONALISM AND FRIENDLY STAFF THEY HAVE. YESTERDAY I HAD THE BODY SCULPTING TREATMENT AND AM EXCITED ABOUT THE RESULTS I HAVE ALREADY SEEN. I HAVE BEEN TRYING EXTREMELY HARD THESE LAST FOUR MONTHS TO GET INTO GOOD FIT SHAPE AND THIS BODY SCULPTING IS GIVING ME THE EXTRA HELP THAT I NEED TO MAKE MY HIPS LOOK LIKE NEVER BEFORE. This is the best Spa I have ever been to. It is relaxing, very CLEAN and the staff is friendly and professional. I am getting the 'Accent' treatment here and appreciate that this spa and its owner are on the cutting edge of treatments. The treatment is working and I have had three kids in the last 5 years, so definitely need it! They are very into training their staff and ensuring that they are learning the latest techniques. I have also had pre-natal massages here and appreciated the gentle but thorough session I had with Jennifer. I have had my brows waxed here and have never had anyone pay more attention to detail and do a better job on my eyebrows. I had lots of people comment on how great they look. Attention to detail is the mantra here - they have cucumbers in their water for extra refreshment and nice ambient music playing. I appreciate that it is dimly lit since I'm still not feeling like I want to parade in front of people half dressed. Couple all of this with the beautiful location on the waterfront and yo have the best spa in town! I will be back again and again!

I recently had a skin rejuvenation treatment for broken capillaries and sun damage. The treatment was completly explained to me in a friendly yet professional manner. The treatment lasted approximetly an hour and was just as explained beforehand. The results after just one treatment are amazing, my face feels much smoother already. The treatment will require a once a month visit for three months. My thanks to the wonderful staff at Portland Spa and Boutique for making this awkward treatment fun, I look forward to my remaining treatments. I would recommend there services (and have) to anyone who is serious about quality. michaeloc

I have never received personalized, detailed attention like I have at this top-notch spa. Not only is their service above and beyond what I expected (free valet parking, clean and gorgeous spa, warm, friendly staff), but BOTH massages I had here completely rejuvenated my mind, body, and spirit in completely different ways. The person who booked the massage was very attentive to what I needed and suggested different therapists for each situation. Aside from the great atmosphere and service, the real reason I believe Portland Spa is so successful is the actual treatments they provide. Sarah focused on helping me relax after a long period of stressful work -and left me feeling completely reinvigorated and stress-free. About a month later, Kathy's deep-tissue technique really helped areas of my back that had recently given me a lot of trouble but weren?t stress related. If you are looking for a great massage in a beautiful, stress-free setting ? trust me and go to Portland Spa and Boutique.

Wow. I was going to take my Mom as a gift for M-Day for a pedi and mani but I am really concerned now that I have read the most recent experience and review. Is this a new staff person? I think I will hold off until I hear from the owner who responds on this site. The other reviews have been so good so I am confused but I would hate to spend lots and have it no better than the places in the malls.

I went to Portland Spa for a Simply Pedi pedicure. This was a very disappointing pedicure given the $50 price tag. I found my pedicurist to be inept, and unfocused on doing a good job with my feet. My expectation for the price tag would be some work to prep the nail (i.e. cuticles pushed back), feet scrubbed with a manual file to remove dead skin, meticulous work with nail shapes, etc. These are not items included in the Simply Pedi. The skin on my feet is no better off than prior to the pedicure. The nail shapes are sloppy and mismatched between feet. My pedicurist forgot to put on a base coat before applying nail polish...and didn't figure it out until I called her on it. I found myself pondering whether to just get up and walk out a couple of times. The service is advertised at 50 minutes on the spa's web site, although my service only lasted 40 minutes. Avoid at all costs...you can find a better pedi at many spas in Portland.

We scheduled a surprise visit to the spa for my sisters birthday. Danielle worked with us scheduling four women to have a variety of spa treatments ranging from facials to manicures, to massages. All of us very much enjoyed our treatments. The staff was fantastic! They never once let on to my sister that not only was she going to enjoy a fabulous massage, but also a manicure and pedicure. When the aesthician applied the complimentary make-up I expected a rather quick service, however, she took her time and made my sister feel and look like the queen she was for the day. I highly recommend Danielle and her staff! What a wonderful morning at the spa.

Great service, wonderful location, makes you fell like you are far away from the city.
Best massage I have ever had. Not only found and focused on my tight spots but showed me stretches on how to prevent them and injury to my body. Ask for Kathleen! The waiting room was even great so relaxing!! I liked changing in the treatment room not a locker room then forced to walk around in a robe. Staff was soo nice felt like I had been there before.

I went to Portland Spa & Boutique for the first time over the weekend. The Spa is located right outside Riverplace Hotel, but you have to access it from the promenade/boardwalk side. After all the reviews I'd seen on Citysearch, I expected this place to be bigger for some reason. The staff was very nice and offered us refreshments. I had an eyebrow wax and my mother had an eyebrow and lip wax. The nice esthetician spent about 30 minutes on my brows! It was more than an eyebrow wax (granted, I purchased the "eyebrow artistry" but was certainly not expecting her to be so detailed). I needed a lot of careful shaping and she really took the time to make sure I liked what she was doing. The only reason I took off a star was because while we were there, the fire alarm went off when they started a fire in their fireplace. It was so loud that it gave me a migraine that I spent days trying to fight. I understand that this was out of their control, but it was quite a disruption. If I could give them 4.5 stars, I would. Despite all that, the experience was great and I will be going back (along with my mom). Also, there is free valet parking through the Riverplace Hotel, so you can just walk through the hotel and turn right and get to the spa easily.

I've been super stressed out for the holidays, between working, shopping, flying to see family, and well- just seeing family-- I was tapped out. I went in to get a pumpkin cream body wrap from Adriana and I felt reborn. Adriana has magic hands and is so soothing and kind. My favorite part is the scalp massage with the Chai tea bags over my eyes. The yummy smell of the chai and the pumpkin from the body wrap reminded me of all the most comforting parts of the holidays. I'm treating myself to another one before I start batteling the holiday shopping crowds-- I suggest you do too!

I had the most amazing peppermint pedicure by Theresa! You can tell that she loves her job. The room is quaint and peaceful, I felt like I was in a different world. Flat screens, low lighting and a glass of wine, while you get pampered. What more could you ask for?! Friendly and sincere staff upon booking appts, getting directions, checking in and leaving. Stellar experience! I will definitely go back to have a massage and facial. I cannot wait to take my best friend and sisters! The spa is modern, tranquil and in a beautiful location.

I scheduled services at Portland Spa and Boutique on a Friday afternoon...right during rush hour. As I was stuck in traffic I felt my self stressing out more and more on the way to the spa. I finally called the spa to let them know I was running late. The woman on the phone was very pleasant, and told me not to worry about a thing. After a couple of minutes, my therapist called my cell phone to assure me that she would take care of me no problem. I was so relieved at how flexible the staff was!

Once I arrived they whisked me back into my service, the H2O facial. The facial was hydrating, relaxing and calming to my nerves. My therapist was gracious and gave the best arm and hand massage!

The decor is sheek yet comfortable. The staff is both personable and knowledgeable. The location is impossible to beat! Everyone must try this spa, the entire experience was amazing!!

I love the Portland Spa. The staff is always friendly and proffesional, the spa is decorated beautifully, and it is always spotless. But, the best part are the services! I recently received an excellent deep tissue massage from Molly. She was wonderful! I also brought my brother in (kicking and screming) to get a facial from Adriana. Although at first he resisted the idea of a "manly man" getting a facial, by the end he was hooked! He loved the service and his usually yucky skin was glowing! All in all, you cannot go wrong with any of the staff. Portland Spa is like a little oasis! Thank you!!!

My wife gave me a gift card for a facial, and since I'd never had one, I really didn't know what to expect. I thought I might just prefer a massage. I went ahead and had the facial anyway, and I'm glad I did. Very relaxing experience and I came away feeling the skin on my face was very soft and clean...kind of like when you go to the dentist and walk away with your teeth cleaner than you realized they could be. It certainly gave me an appreciation for why my wife likes having facials here so much.

This spa experience was the worst I have ever had!! The spa was very cold and unclean, and the massage therapist hands were like ice! The lotions that were used for my massage and facial were also cold. I asked to have the heat turned up four times and I was still cold. My 60 minute massage was only 45 minutes, and I felt rushed through my services. I had a chunk of my left eyebrow taken off with my brow wax.. the worst wax I have ever had. The staff was friendly but inexperienced. Instead of leaving the spa relaxed and refreshed, I left the spa with a back ache that lasted 2 days.I have had the same services done 100% better for 30 % less money elsewhere.
I would never recommend this spa.

Wonderful, serene atmosphere, terrific location, outstanding products. Better yet, Aesthetician McKenzie Daggett truly posseses "healing hands." Ask for her, specifically! You'll be very pleased. This is the most thorough and relaxing facial I have ever experienced. Facilities and therapies are carefully orchestrated with the client's comfort in mind. Can't wait to go back!

A word of warning to those who drive - the complimentary valet parking can be problematic. They ran out of space for my visit, gave me a token with which to use at a parking lot. but neglected to tell me where that was. I ended up with a hefty parking fee, as a result. Not the Spa's fault, but good to know, nonetheless.

I made appointments to get a massage and a spa pedicure but when I showed up they didnt have me on the books. I was furious but tried to be understanding.....when she tried to re-book me for a later date, the woman at the reception desk acted like it was MY fault. Rude! Im not sure how they run a business like that. Get it together.

I recently had a facial here and loved it. They offered me a glass of wine before my service which was great because it gave me a chance to unwind before my treatment. I just like how they do things here. For example, when I get a 60-minute massage, the massage itself really lasts 60 minutes. At most places you pay for 60, but they include your time getting changed in that hour, so you only really get a 50 minute massage. Everyone is always friendly and has a smile for me. They just make me feel at home! I don't get that from some of the bigger spas.

I have tried several spas in the Portland area and had great experiences until I went to Portland Spa and Boutique. The way I was treated at the front reception was unprofessional and disappointing. When you go to a spa, you expect class and professionalism.....it was the opposite there. A man was at the desk when I came and also when I left and in my opinion, the person you have at the front to greet people should be the best impression....far from it. He was on the phone, sounded like a personal call and I stood there feeling awkward waiting for service far too long. When I finally got some help, he acted like he had never worked at a spa before....a weird and awkward experience. Dont think I will return soon.

Everybody has their preferences, but for me, this spa is just right. Elegant and peaceful without being intimidating or pretentious. Nice, welcoming staff members who seem well trained in their specialties. And an attitude of thoughfulness and true individual service. I guess what I mean is that I always feel comfortable and welcomed. This place still seems like kind of a secret, I guess because of its Riverplace location where you can't drive by it (it's on the boardwalk); but if you feel like the other "high-end" spas in town sometimes act like they are too good for your business, check out Portland Spa and boutique.

I often visit Portland Spa and Boutique. The staff is very friendly and warm, and not pretentious at all. The services are always great and the waiting area and the rooms are really modern and comfy. I love it here!

I got the information about this spa from the hotel I was staying in. The concierge told me that when I go into the day spa that the front reception area may not be impressive but when you step into the back waiting room and treament rooms I will see that the atmosphere is like a very serene calming spa.
I liked the ambiance and also the staff was very professional. I only got a spa pedicure (unfortunately I only had time for that), they have TVs hooked up to DVDs and a selection of DVDs for you to select from that you can watch using ear phones, My pedicure was calming and relaxing and my technician was professional. I live n the East Coast and only get to Portland once a year but next time I'm there I plan to vivist Portland Spa for a massage.

Of course I like a facial as much as the next girl, but I really went to this spa looking for some ways to improve the appearance of my skin. I must say that a couple of months later, I am quite impressed. The facial was very enjoyable and the staff was nice, but to be honest, I expect that when I go to a spa. What I liked was that my facial girl took her time to really ask me about what was going on with my skin and what I wanted to improve. She didn't make any miracle promises, but she said if I stuck to the regime she wrote out for me on the cute little prescription pad that she was confident I would see results. I've tried a million products, so I was somewhat skeptical, but she seemed knowlegable, so I promised I would try her routine. After a week or two, things weren't improving...maybe even getting a bit worse, but she had warned me that things might get a little worse before they got better, so I stuck with it. About 7 weeks later, I am so happy I stuck with it...for the first time in my adult life, my skin is clear. Thank you, Portland Spa! My advice to anyone looking for help with their skin is to find a knowledgable professional like the one I found here, listen to their advice, and stick with it!

Allow me to start off by saying that my experience was not bad, but it wasn't good either. The ambience and staff were nice, but the services left something to be desired. I booked the PS pedicure and was not happy with the state of my feet following the service. The massage was weak, I left with calluses still on my feet, my heels were not nice and smooth as they typically are following a pedicure, and my nail polish began to chip a short week later...even after applying a clear top coat mid-week. The most enjoyable part of this experience for me was the episode of S*% and the City I watched during the pedicure, definitely not the pedicure itself.

This was my first experience at Portland Spa and boy it was wonderful! I have been to several spas locally, most are pretty much the same. But there are a few things that really made PS stand out. First there is complimentary valet parking. Also, loved being able to sit down and relax in the quiet area and sip on a lovely cup of tea before going in to get my facial. Very helpful to do, and not all spas do this. The staff were all kind and very courteous. If going for the first time, I highly suggest the PS Facial. It's very relaxing, a good mix of facial and massage time. The lady who did my facial was Michelle, excellent woman and delightful! I can definitely see going back again for a few hours of pampering for sure! Not to mention everything was right on time, so no extra waiting. If you're looking for a place to just relax, unwind and be pampered...PS is the place to go! =o)

My husband purchased a gift card for me for Valentine's Day and now I am hooked. I am not usually into the whole massage thing but, I have to admit, the experience at the Portland Spa and Boutique was truly magnificent. I was not sure what to try first so I decided to go with the Sun Goddess. I was a little nervous but everyone made me feel very relaxed. I received a warm greeting, offered a choice of beverage and then shown to the waiting area. A calm, dimly lit room with a wall fountain which added to the encounter. I had such a positive experience I could not wait to schedule my next visit. I opted for the leg waxing; the hardest part was not shaving my legs for three weeks. Waxing, I have decided, is not my thing, so I went back for a deep tissue massage that was great. I am looking forward to my next visit and another massage, perhaps the one with the warm stones.

I came here a day before i left for hawaii for my very first bikinin wax. The receptionist seemed pleasant but there seemed to be a shift change between the front desk so I was a bit confused as to where I was to go. The person doing my wax was very nice and I felt very comfortable, whe I felt a little uneasy at first she offered me some wine and that made the expierence much better. She suggested another product to use since it was my first time w/o the "push"! very nice overall. Loved the valet service!

Have had a few treatments here and it is a relaxing haven. Good staff, excellent retail area, pretty space, great locale! I will definitely be going back to have a pedicure and facial. Very clean and they have a selection of cute boutique baby gifts as well - perfect since I had a baby shower the day after my treatment that I had been remiss in buying a gift for!! Love it!

Great place for a little retreat and relaxation. I go for periodic massages, Luna is one of the best around. I have all sorts of nagging injuries from the past plus work related stress, she seems to get all of that out of me. I always feel refreshed when I leave. Jessi is great for facials and brow waxes. I've always been a little skeptical, but I needed to make sure I looked good for some up coming job interviews, I was quite impressed. Very thorough and nothing like some of those other spas where everything is about sents and all that fluff stuff. It's easy to get in for appointments, have patience with parking because it's down by the river and spots can be difficult to find. For the money, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm leaving town, and one of my favorite stops!

I just had to leave this review after a recent experience. Last weekend, I tried to walk in to Portland Spa from my hotel to get a facial. They were all booked up, which was not a surprise on a weekend. What happened next did surprise me. The gentleman at the desk called another spa and booked my appointment for me, and then called a cab to take me there and fixed some warm tea for me while I waited! Thay did all this for me even knowing I was not going to be spending any money with them. I can't wait to come back!

My friend and I went to this spa recently for massages and were disappointed with our treatment and the overall atmosphere of the spa. It is very small and unprofessional. Compared to other spas, this one is cramped, dark and does not offer the luxuries of most spas, like a steamroom, large lockerrooms, robes, bathrooms and sauna. My friend's massage therapist did not talk to her once before, after or during the treatment and wonders whether she even received the right treatment (deep tissue) since the pressure was not at all deep. My massage therapist was attentive and of average skill. The most important thing lacking was the feeling of relaxation, pampering and luxury.

After working hard all day, all week I go to the spa for a nice break from the hustle and bustle. This is the perfect retreat. It's everything you would want from a spa without the Disneyland effect. There aren't big lines, you won't be sitting in your robe with 12 other people. It's quaint and serene.

Aside from atmosphere, the other equally important thing to me is what happens once I get on the other side of that treatment door. I go to this spa for two people - Luna (for massage and body treatments) and Erica (for skin and waxing). They are both skilled and knowledgeable, and best of all they listen to you.

I went to see Treysie last night and had a great spa experience. I was shown into the spa promptly, given tea and allowed to relax for a few minutes, then went in for 2 very pleasant hours (1 of waxing, 1 of facial) Both the wax and the facial were very professionally and skillfully accomplished. I really liked the hand and foot massage while the masks were on my face. I have received several compliments on my complexion both last night and this morning. Instead of trying to push products on me, Treysie gave me some samples and a recommended regimen. I really appreciated her frank appraisal of my skin and her instinctive knowledge of when to allow silence in the room and when to talk. It was a great experience - I'll be back!

I went to Portland Spa and had a massage. They either ran late or did a long massage on me - or both. I ended up 30 minutes late for a meeting that I organized at the restaurant at the Riverplace Hotel for work. No one told me I was running late. I think they intended on giving me extra time but it was embarrassing and unprofessional for me to be late - I would liked to have been asked. Better luck next time.

Over the last 6 months, I've tried quite a few of Portland Spa's services, and I have yet to be disapointed. I can say for sure the massages, facials and foot treatments are all first-rate. I came in last Friday for a couple of services and was blown away by my massage! Of course hot stone massages always feel nice, but this one was transendant. Her name is Julie, so I recommend scheduling one with her. She really knows what she's doing. I've had hundreds of massages, but I think this was the best. I visited Portland Spa for the first time recently, per a referal. BOY, were they right, I loved it. From the second I stepped foot in the place, I knew this was the Spa for me. It's contemporary, but edgey look is fun, but the staff is what makes this place the best. My massage was amazing, the best facial I've had in a long time, and the skill of the make-up after my service was unbelievable, I didn't know I could look that good! Tried to post a review and it just erased. I can't say enough about how much I was ignored when I walked in, about how disappointing the spa was (all 10 feet of it) and the pedicure area was all flatscreen TV's and dark and cold. I had a nice foot treatment but it was long and drawn out. It could have been done in 1/2 the time. They brag about being waterfront but you never see the water when you are there. It's a bunch of advertising smoke and mirrors - I have no idea how they got "BEST SPA" - it's a joke.

I visited this spa while staying next door at the Riverplace hotel (which I would also recommend!) and I had a wonderful massage. The spa isn't big like a resort spa, but I liked the whole personal feeling of the facility and the service. I especially liked that the massage woman listened to what I wanted as far as appropriate pressure and such. I've had massages before where I was gritting teeth in pain rather than relaxing, but she was great about making sure I was happy. When I visit the hotel again, I'll be back!

We found this place through the Riverplace Hotel. We loved it here, it was my grilfriends birthday so we each got a level 3 with a pedicure add on. It was the best pedicure I ever had! Afterwards we had dinner at the Riverplace and the food was amazing...I would highly suggest making that a stop afterwards! We will definitely recommend this place to all our friends!

How many people can actually "stumble on a spa"? Sounds like these reviews are written by the employees or something! How can it be the best spa when the entire front area is "gift shop"? I liked my foot treatment (except I was left sitting there while the two nail girls talked in corner by the DVD's) but it was uncomfortable having a treatment while someone else was watching Sex in the City with full exposure! I'm not conservative but what if I was? Seems like they are trying to be "cutting edge" in a small cramped space. I saw 3 people waiting in the "relaxation area" but none of them looked very comfortable. Best Spa?? How about Best Closet! Rest of service was ok.

I had a facial and was a little disappointed. I spent a lot of money thinking I was going to get a fabulous facial but the skill was just not there. The spa is very small but very clean and modern. I have to guess that the reviews you will read about this spa are written by the family and friends of the owners. Just look at the fact that this place opened in November and was already voted number one by the end of the year. I had to see for myself if it was all that in such a short period of time. It's possible! Well, NOT. Top of the line products, yes. Beauty school level service at best. I had a prescription written out for me by my Esthetician but the front desk/owner lady went against what it said telling me I needed something totally different. Who to believe? The only way this place will be around for a faux rating next year is by unexpecting, unknowing travelers who don't know any better or more family memebers. Beware, top of the scale prices, beauty school level treatments.

I've tried everything for my skin, including those infomercials. So, when the girl here said they could clear my skin up if I followed the regime she would set up for me, I didn't expect much. That's why I was so surprised when I started seeing real results. Three months later, my skin has almost completely cleared up. If you're looking for a spa that can pamper you and get results, give Portland Spa and boutique a try.

I went to Portland Spa -it took me forever to find it. I parked and walked - but I told this really nice girl at their front desk (she was all cool with lots of tattoos and really sweet) and she explained about the valet parking - so it could have been easier. They were really nice but it looks big on citysearch and it is really tiny. I didn't get any service except a facial and the girl talked through my service and I don't think she meant to make me feel pressured but it seemed like getting a regular facial wasn't good enough - I felt like she was upselling me all the time. Again the front girl was really funky and nice - on the sofa in the waiting room they were nice but in the facial it was not very nice - too much selling!!!

I have been to all the spas in Portland craving a good massage. I don't know if its that other spas underpay their therapists or if the masseuses are all just bored, but at this spa I got the best massage ever!! Luna did an Ashiatsu massage where she walked on my back while holding onto bars linked to the ceiling. This was the absolute best massage i have ever had. I have paid top dollar in the Pearl expecting bliss but walked away less than satisfied. From now on this is my spa of choice!

This spa is like a little jewel, right on the riverfront. I just stumbled on it while walking on day band thought I'd give it a try....great move! I've been going here since December, and I think the praise is well deserved. I've had a few different servives, including a couple of massages, a facial and some waxing, and I've found everyone to be very competent and professional. Plus, they treat me very well. I followed your recommendation and it was big disappointment! I strongly doubt the reviews are written by real customers. I took massage last week and fount it very unprofessional, done by young, very nice but totally inexperienced person. Since I take massage for several years, this found done with huge ignorance of human anatomy. I am new in Portland and very surprised by the low level of service. But the worst thing was complimentary make up, just dont do it there!

My wife loves going to the spa, but I never knew I'd like it so much, too. I had a fantastic massage...the best I've ever had. And although the spa was warm and welcoming, it was also clean and modern...not to foofy for guys, but not too cold for women. They messed up my appointment when I first called. Tacky sandwich board and small cluttered store in front - spa is different story. The interior design is clean and modern. The main "waiting area" however is TINY - I mean TINY - it looks big on the website and is awkward to sit in a robe next to someone in their street clothes. One drawback is that all the treatment rooms open to this tiny waiting area and you watch all the stress - including a direct view of the utility closet. My facial kept trying to upsell me to diamond microdermabrasion BUT - my Ashiatsu massage with Luna was mind blowing - she is amazing. Skip the otherstuff - it's average. So, overall, the spa is clean, beautiful, tiny and is a nice alternative. The services are good - ashiatsu amazing - and I'm happy Portland Spa is here.

I get a lot of massages done, so sometimes it can seem pretty routine. When I called here, they recommended an ashiatsu massage. I didn't know what that was, but hey, they're the experts, right? I'm so glad I listened! After a nice (complimentary, thank you very much!) cup of green tea, I was led to a room with parallel bars on the ceiling. The therapist told me she would use these bars for balance while she worked on me with her feet! If she hadn't prepped me for the fact she'd be using her feet, I would have never known during the massage, except that she was able to apply the pressure I wanted in a way I've never quite felt through hands.
Their brochure calls ashiatsu "the most luxurious massage on the planet", and they might just be right! Truly a special and delightful experience.

This spa was recently voted #1 in the Citysearch poll, so I had to check it out! What I found was a stylish, urban retreat with a staff really dedicated to their trade and to their clients. It's obvious they've thought out all the little details here, and the focus is definitely on making the client feel special. I felt like everyone I met here truly cared about me enjoying the best possible spa experience. I feel like I've discovered a great spa right before it gets to be the "hot" place, but I'm willing to share!

The Staff, Atmosphere and Location are what make The Portland Spa the best around! I have experienced numerous other spas, but hadn't found the "one" for me, until my day at The Portland Spa. The Deep Cleansing facial treatment was incredibly relaxing and the Ashiatsu massage released stress I wasn't aware I had. Both Staff members that I interacted with (Heidi & Luna) were very professional and knowledgable about their specific area of expertise. I have recommended The Portland Spa to many of my friends and associates, as well as I will return for "spa days" as often as possible.

I saw all the good reviews on Citysearch, so I thought I'd try this new spa for myself. I have to say, this intimate, elegant spa is all I've been reading and more. Skilled staff, no rush atmosphere, nice extras (no charge for a nice cup of green tea or a glass of wine, for example) and a beautiful facility all for, on average, less than I've been paying at my "regular" spa. Add in the free valet parking, and I think this is my NEW regular spa!

I can see what all the buzz is about...this place is great! Very nicely done with a real emphasis on personal service. Plus, its such a nice setting, right on the river. All the equipment here looks shiny and new, and most importantly to me, everything is super clean. I'm just really picky about cleanliness standards in restaurants and spas, and this spa is so clean that I feel like I can just relax and enjoy it. The prices are very competetive, too.

What a great addition to portland's spa scene. A very sophisticated spot with all the latest technology and methods you could ask for. The best thing, though, is a staff that seems dedicated to exceeding your every expectation. On my way in, I mentioned to the front desk that my friend and I were going to be looking for a dinner spot and a fun club after our spa time, and when we came out, they had Citysearch reviews and maps printed out for us suggesting places to go. Going the extra mile like that is a refreshing change from some places that just seem to want to get you in and out.

There are lots of things to like here, but my experience with the staff and service are what really set Portland Spa and boutique apart. From the front desk to the technicians, everyone truly seems focussed on making my happiness the most important thing. I can't say that about every spa in town. Yes, they have all the latest technology, and the setting on the river is nice, but it's the service that will keep me coming back.

I've received four treatments of diamond microdermabrasion and I can see the difference that it has made to my skin. I love to see something that really works! My neighbor told me I looked ten years younger than I really am. Thanks to the home care program using Jan Marini I will never use anything else, it has made an amazing difference in my skin. I have also tried the foot treatment which was fabulous and watched Sex and the City from their DVD collection. I plan to make this a bi-monthly experience. In addition, I bought a few Christmas gifts from their boutique-what a selection! I highly recommend this spa. I love this place and to me it is a dream come true....check it out!

This new spa has the ambiance and feel of the big spas, but in a personal-sized package right on the river. They lavish you with personal attention, and they don't charge extra for the extras, like your own personal pot of tea or glass of wine. Their staff just seem very happy and in focussing on you. I had a very luxurious facial...the best I've had in Portland. They have some beautiful jewelry, too. I'll be back.

Beautiful place with excellent service. The foot massage was a real treat-I will be back soon for that and to try other services. Everything was very personal but professional. My best spa experience in Portland. And no parking problems-I just left my car with the hotel valet and walked next door to the spa. A very relaxing time.

I've been to most of the big spas in town, and some of them are beautiful, but they feel kind of like "spa factories", with an emphasis on getting you in and out on their schedule. Portland Spa and boutique is just the opposite. It's beautiful and posh, just like the big spas (and right on the river!), but the staff is very knowlegable and attentive. They have all the state of the art equipment, and some things I've never seen, like a foot therapy room with flat screens and DVDs available. I had a very luxurios facial, and next time I'll try a massage. After trying so many others, I feel like I've finally found my spa home!

I travel a lot for my job and have received many facials in my time....so I'd say I'm very picky. Usually I always feel I have to go in the evening because afterwards I look really bad (no make-up and my hair is a mess). I have never gotten a facial from anyone who has the incredible touch Heidi has....and after she put my make-up on for free and helped me get my hair back in shape so I could get the rest of my shopping done! I'd highly recommed Hedi....she's the best!

I guess this place is brand new, and wow, what a find! The boutique has product lines I've never seen in Portland like Kol and Nickel, the waiting room is a stunner with a huge water feature, a bar and a fireplace, and the range of services is great. I don't think any other spa in town offers diamond microdermabrasion, Endermologie and microcurrent. I'll try the foot therapy room next time...each station has it's own flat screen and DVD library! They also have massage, including some technique that involves bars on the ceiling and the therapist using her feet! Prices are more than competitive, and free valet parking at the Riverplace Hotel next door seals the deal. Plus, it's right on the water. And, oh, yeah...the facial was fantastic!
