Pros: Amazing staff, stylish, valet parking

Have had a few treatments here and it is a relaxing haven. Good staff, excellent retail area, pretty space, great locale! I will definitely be going back to have a pedicure and facial. Very clean and they have a selection of cute boutique baby gifts as well - perfect since I had a baby shower the day after my treatment that I had been remiss in buying a gift for!! Love it!
Pros: Location, value, selection

I was treated to Mothers' Day at Portland Spa and it couldn't have been better. From the valet parking to the beautiful riverfront setting, everything was perfect. I had a wonderful facial and massage and the staff made me feel like the most special woman on earth!
Pros: waterfront , nice staff, skill

I called this spa at about 8:30 in the morning, listened to their recording helpfully advise that they would return messages 'as soon as possible,' and left a message. When did they return it? Never! How... professional. PS must be pretty flush with business to be turning customers away!
Cons: wouldn't serve me

Great place for a little retreat and relaxation. I go for periodic massages, Luna is one of the best around. I have all sorts of nagging injuries from the past plus work related stress, she seems to get all of that out of me. I always feel refreshed when I leave. Jessi is great for facials and brow waxes. I've always been a little skeptical, but I needed to make sure I looked good for some up coming job interviews, I was quite impressed. Very thorough and nothing like some of those other spas where everything is about sents and all that fluff stuff. It's easy to get in for appointments, have patience with parking because it's down by the river and spots can be difficult to find. For the money, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm leaving town, and one of my favorite stops!
Pros: small, quiet, great value
Cons: parking

This spa deserve all the recognition it's been getting. I love coming here because I always know I'm going to get the personal attention I crave and the kind of excellent service that comes from good training and a happy staff.
Pros: personal attention, great staff, skilled

I've been to many spas while on vacation at exotic resorts, and I have never been anywhere I like better than Portland Spa. From the moment I came in the door, I just felt great energy here, and my satisfaction continued with wonderful services and caring people. It's the perfect urban getaway!
Pros: skills, staff, atmosphere

I just had to leave this review after a recent experience. Last weekend, I tried to walk in to Portland Spa from my hotel to get a facial. They were all booked up, which was not a surprise on a weekend. What happened next did surprise me. The gentleman at the desk called another spa and booked my appointment for me, and then called a cab to take me there and fixed some warm tea for me while I waited! Thay did all this for me even knowing I was not going to be spending any money with them. I can't wait to come back!
Pros: service, kindness

My friend and I went to this spa recently for massages and were disappointed with our treatment and the overall atmosphere of the spa. It is very small and unprofessional. Compared to other spas, this one is cramped, dark and does not offer the luxuries of most spas, like a steamroom, large lockerrooms, robes, bathrooms and sauna. My friend's massage therapist did not talk to her once before, after or during the treatment and wonders whether she even received the right treatment (deep tissue) since the pressure was not at all deep. My massage therapist was attentive and of average skill. The most important thing lacking was the feeling of relaxation, pampering and luxury.
Pros: free valet parking
Cons: atmosphere, mediocre massages

After working hard all day, all week I go to the spa for a nice break from the hustle and bustle. This is the perfect retreat. It's everything you would want from a spa without the Disneyland effect. There aren't big lines, you won't be sitting in your robe with 12 other people. It's quaint and serene.
Aside from atmosphere, the other equally important thing to me is what happens once I get on the other side of that treatment door. I go to this spa for two people - Luna (for massage and body treatments) and Erica (for skin and waxing). They are both skilled and knowledgeable, and best of all they listen to you.
Pros: Atmosphere, Staff
Cons: No sauna, steamroom, only 1 rm w/ shower

I went to see Treysie last night and had a great spa experience. I was shown into the spa promptly, given tea and allowed to relax for a few minutes, then went in for 2 very pleasant hours (1 of waxing, 1 of facial) Both the wax and the facial were very professionally and skillfully accomplished. I really liked the hand and foot massage while the masks were on my face. I have received several compliments on my complexion both last night and this morning. Instead of trying to push products on me, Treysie gave me some samples and a recommended regimen. I really appreciated her frank appraisal of my skin and her instinctive knowledge of when to allow silence in the room and when to talk. It was a great experience - I'll be back!
Pros: Great end result, Clean, Sanitary, Free Valet Parking

My friend and I just visited Portland...and wanted to treat ourselves to a spa experience. We had a delightful time at the Portland Spa and Botique - the staff is courteous, experienced and patient. They made me feel like my happiness was their only concern. The next time we are in Portland we will definitely try to get another set of appointments. I highly recommend this place...enjoy!
Pros: Quality, Ambience, Staff

I came in with my daughter for a special day together and we had the best afternoon! Everyone was so sweet to us and the treatments were heavenly. They made us feel so special. It was everything I had hoped for.
Pros: friendly staff, wonderful services, valet parking
Posted 12/12/05
I went to Portland Spa and had a massage. They either ran late or did a long massage on me - or both. I ended up 30 minutes late for a meeting that I organized at the restaurant at the Riverplace Hotel for work. No one told me I was running late. I think they intended on giving me extra time but it was embarrassing and unprofessional for me to be late - I would liked to have been asked. Better luck next time.

I had never been to a spa before, but I got a gift certificate, and WOW! I felt like a queen for the entire day and maybe a couple of days after, too! I didn't know what I was missing, but being pampered like this is definitely something I'm going to try to get used to.
Pros: luxurious, felt special, skilled staff

Over the last 6 months, I've tried quite a few of Portland Spa's services, and I have yet to be disapointed. I can say for sure the massages, facials and foot treatments are all first-rate. They've got a big menu with lots of services, but they seem to do them all well. Nice to have a quality spa walking distance from my downtown office.
Pros: location, skill, price

My wife and I were recently visiting portland, OR. We stopped in at the Portland Spa and Botique for a massage....and let me say that this was undoubtedly the BEST MASSAGE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED! - i was so relaxed and comfortable in the creatively designed and peaceful environment, i didn't want to leave. Everything from the modern (zen-like) design of the interior and the experienced staff made our visit wonderful and memorable. We will be back soon.
Pros: Ambience, Quality Services, Experienced Staff
Posted 11/23/05
We arrived early, we taken to the waiting room. Never spoke to once we arrived. Never told it was going to be a few minutes. The kept us waiting for over 15 minutes. We gave up. It was incredibly rude.
Cons: Expensive, Rude
Posted 11/18/05
I received treatment as a gift and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There is a quiet area while you wait for your technician where they serve complimentary beverages. The personnel are (I experience 4 different individuals) skilled, professional, and very pleasant. The complimentary valet parking through the Riverplace Hotel is very convenient. I highly recommend this spa.
Pros: Skilled, Quiet atmosphere, Good Parking

I have gone to Jessica to get my eyebrows waxed for the last 8 months and LOVE her. She takes her time and does a fantastic job with little to no instruction. I recommend her to all of my friends and will continue to go to her for all skin care needs.
Posted 10/30/05
I came in last Friday for a couple of services and was blown away by my massage! Of course hot stone massages always feel nice, but this one was transendant. Her name is Julie, so I recommend scheduling one with her. She really knows what she's doing. I've had hundreds of massages, but I think this was the best. This is a really cozy spa, I totally enjoyed my time there.
Pros: Julie, sex in the city, free drinks!

I visited Portland Spa for the first time recently, per a referal. BOY, were they right, I loved it. From the second I stepped foot in the place, I knew this was the Spa for me. It's contemporary, but edgey look is fun, but the staff is what makes this place the best. My massage was amazing, the best facial I've had in a long time, and the skill of the make-up after my service was unbelievable, I didn't know I could look that good! I bought more than I should have, (don't tell my husband) haha.
Pros: Valet, talented staff, affordable
Posted 10/24/05
I was a little worried when I was told I'd be with the "new" girl, but my facial and nail service were both great. The services ran on schedule, and with a little make-up application after the appointment, I was good to go to my next stop. A nice addition to the Portland spa scene.
Pros: Skilled, convenient, valet parking
Posted 10/19/05
I tried this place out because I got a gift certificate. Big mistake. I agree with another reviewer regarding the unprofessional behavior and appearance of the staff, especially at the reception desk. I got an eyebrow wax which would have turned out better if I have let my kindergartener do it.
Posted 10/17/05
My boss bought me a gift certificate and I had a wonderful time here. A fabulous warm stone massage and some very skilled waxing. Now that I know about Portland Spa, I'll be back on my own.
Pros: excellent services, waterfront location, valet parking
Posted 10/16/05
The reviews for this place are totally WRONG. The employees at this spa are so un- professional and rude. I received the worst massage ever, and left with more pain than I came in with. I had the most un-welcoming experience from the second I walked in the door to the second I left. I have never received such poor customer service in my entire life. I hope people realize how awful this place really is
Posted 10/15/05
I was so impressed with how accomidating and friendly the staff was. The ashiatsu massage was one of the best I have ever had! The store front was small, but had everything one could need! This is defineately one of the friendliest and competent spas in the Portland area. I was truly impressed. Keep up the good work and next time I am in town I know where I will be going!
Pros: valet parking, waterfront, staff
Posted 09/18/05
I love coming here for massages. The girls are excellent, the spa is beautiful and the price is $20-$50 less than the other high-end places in town.
Pros: value, skilled staff, location
Posted 09/16/05
We had the best time here. The staff treated us as if we were royality. Thanks PS for making this trip memorable!
Pros: staff, service, Riverplace Hotel
Posted 09/13/05
Tried to post a review and it just erased. I can't say enough about how much I was ignored when I walked in, about how disappointing the spa was (all 10 feet of it) and the pedicure area was all flatscreen TV's and dark and cold. I had a nice foot treatment but it was long and drawn out. It could have been done in 1/2 the time. They brag about being waterfront but you never see the water when you are there. It's a bunch of advertising smoke and mirrors - I have no idea how they got "BEST SPA" - it's a joke.
Cons: trendy color scheme, ignored on arrival, actual pedi mildly ok
Posted 09/13/05
tracy is the best brow waxing guru in portland! i followed her from nordstrom where she did anastasia waxing and when i found out she moved to portland spa i was right behind her! it's hard to find someone as good as tracy...i've tried lots of poeple and they always say they are the best....but tracy is really the best!
Pros: tracy, waterfront, parking
Posted 09/12/05
I've been coming to this spa since the beginning and I love it because they are so small! Everyone knows my name and exactly what I like. I don't feel like a number like I have before at bigger spas. They have helped me clear up my skin and I feel like they really care about me.
Pros: skilled staff, intimate, great products
Posted 09/12/05
I visited this spa while staying next door at the Riverplace hotel (which I would also recommend!) and I had a wonderful massage. The spa isn't big like a resort spa, but I liked the whole personal feeling of the facility and the service. I especially liked that the massage woman listened to what I wanted as far as appropriate pressure and such. I've had massages before where I was gritting teeth in pain rather than relaxing, but she was great about making sure I was happy. When I visit the hotel again, I'll be back!
Pros: Nice location, Excellent massage, Great staff
Posted 09/11/05
We found this place through the Riverplace Hotel. We loved it here, it was my grilfriends birthday so we each got a level 3 with a pedicure add on. It was the best pedicure I ever had! Afterwards we had dinner at the Riverplace and the food was amazing...I would highly suggest making that a stop afterwards! We will definitely recommend this place to all our friends!
Pros: service, staff, parking

How many people can actually "stumble on a spa"? Sounds like these reviews are written by the employees or something! How can it be the best spa when the entire front area is "gift shop"? I liked my foot treatment (except I was left sitting there while the two nail girls talked in corner by the DVD's) but it was uncomfortable having a treatment while someone else was watching Sex in the City with full exposure! I'm not conservative but what if I was? Seems like they are trying to be "cutting edge" in a small cramped space. I saw 3 people waiting in the "relaxation area" but none of them looked very comfortable. Best Spa?? How about Best Closet! Rest of service was ok.
Pros: Nice Concept, Nice Decor
Cons: Not Professional, Cramped, Not Relaxing
Posted 09/09/05
I had a facial and was a little disappointed. I spent a lot of money thinking I was going to get a fabulous facial but the skill was just not there. The spa is very small but very clean and modern. They also have some fun things to buy like jewerly, baby clothes and candles. Overall, it was ok...not great! Was pressured a little to buy products.
Pros: location is beautiful, beautiful and modern, free wine and beer
Cons: skill level, small and cramped, not worth the money
Posted 09/09/05
I have to guess that the reviews you will read about this spa are written by the family and friends of the owners. Just look at the fact that this place opened in November and was already voted number one by the end of the year. I had to see for myself if it was all that in such a short period of time. It's possible! Well, NOT. Top of the line products, yes. Beauty school level service at best. I had a prescription written out for me by my Esthetician but the front desk/owner lady went against what it said telling me I needed something totally different. Who to believe? The only way this place will be around for a faux rating next year is by unexpecting, unknowing travelers who don't know any better or more family memebers. Beware, top of the scale prices, beauty school level treatments.
Pros: nice product
Cons: uneducated staff, overpriced, pushy sells

I've tried everything for my skin, including those infomercials. So, when the girl here said they could clear my skin up if I followed the regime she would set up for me, I didn't expect much. That's why I was so surprised when I started seeing real results. Three months later, my skin has almost completely cleared up. If you're looking for a spa that can pamper you and get results, give Portland Spa and boutique a try.
Pros: Great results, Stylish spa, Valet parking
Posted 08/24/05
I went to Portland Spa -it took me forever to find it. I parked and walked - but I told this really nice girl at their front desk (she was all cool with lots of tattoos and really sweet) and she explained about the valet parking - so it could have been easier. They were really nice but it looks big on citysearch and it is really tiny. I didn't get any service except a facial and the girl talked through my service and I don't think she meant to make me feel pressured but it seemed like getting a regular facial wasn't good enough - I felt like she was upselling me all the time. Again the front girl was really funky and nice - on the sofa in the waiting room they were nice but in the facial it was not very nice - too much selling!!!
Pros: Small & intimate, fun down to earth, people at front
Cons: Too small for more, than 1 person at a, time in waiting area.

I have been to all the spas in Portland craving a good massage. I don't know if its that other spas underpay their therapists or if the masseuses are all just bored, but at this spa I got the best massage ever!! Luna did an Ashiatsu massage where she walked on my back while holding onto bars linked to the ceiling. This was the absolute best massage i have ever had. I have paid top dollar in the Pearl expecting bliss but walked away less than satisfied. From now on this is my spa of choice!
Pros: free valet parking!, complimentary wine, friendly!
Cons: NONE
Posted 07/06/05
I loved my facial, manicure, and pedicure. (What a fabulous pedicure room!) This was a great spa experience that I'll recommend to everyone I know. The staff was friendly and helpful. I can't say enough.
Posted 06/28/05
This spa is like a little jewel, right on the riverfront. I just stumbled on it while walking on day band thought I'd give it a try....great move! Excellent service and a great vibe from the whole place. Very urban and sophisticated like you'd expect to find in the Pearl, but with very resonable prices. Coolest pedicure setup in town, too.

Portland Spa and Boutique
I recently went to the Portland Spa at Riverplace to try a diamond Microdermabrasion.
Ive tried different spas in Portland without getting the results I thought I should get.
I not only got great results, I had a great spa experience with extras I didnt expect
(foot rub while in facial mask)
Ive found the best spa in Portland.
You must try Portland Spa and Boutique.

While staying at the Riverplace Hotel, we just stumbled on Portland Spa right on the riverfront boardwalk. What a nice surprise! The treatments were absolutely first rate and the prices were very reasonable compared to what I've paid on other out of town trips. From now on, this will be a part of our regular Portland routine.
Pros: value, treatments, location
Posted 05/19/05
make sure and check out this place i love it, i will definitely be bringing my mother back here for a pedicure!
Pros: nails, waterfront location, valet parking
Posted 05/11/05
I've been going here since December, and I think the praise is well deserved. I've had a few different servives, including a couple of massages, a facial and some waxing, and I've found everyone to be very competent and professional. Plus, they treat me very well. After my first visit, they already knew me by name and everyone always seems genuinely happy to see me when I come back. That kind of customer service is rare these days. Wonderful spa.
Pros: staff, riverfront, value
Posted 05/02/05
I followed your recommendation and it was big disappointment! I strongly doubt the reviews are written by real customers. I took massage last week and fount it very unprofessional, done by young, very nice but totally inexperienced person. Since I take massage for several years, this found done with huge ignorance of human anatomy. I am new in Portland and very surprised by the low level of service. But the worst thing was complimentary make up, just dont do it there!
Posted 04/30/05
My wife loves going to the spa, but I never knew I'd like it so much, too. I had a fantastic massage...the best I've ever had. And although the spa was warm and welcoming, it was also clean and modern...not to foofy for guys, but not too cold for women. Everyone here was friendly and helpful, and for one hour, I felt like the most important person on earth. Who knows....I might even try one of their men's facials!
Pros: friendly staff, great atmosphere, parking
Posted 04/22/05
They messed up my appointment when I first called. Tacky sandwich board and small cluttered store in front - spa is different story. The interior design is clean and modern. The main "waiting area" however is TINY - I mean TINY - it looks big on the website and is awkward to sit in a robe next to someone in their street clothes. One drawback is that all the treatment rooms open to this tiny waiting area and you watch all the stress - including a direct view of the utility closet. My facial kept trying to upsell me to diamond microdermabrasion BUT - my Ashiatsu massage with Luna was mind blowing - she is amazing. Skip the otherstuff - it's average. So, overall, the spa is clean, beautiful, tiny and is a nice alternative. The services are good - ashiatsu amazing - and I'm happy Portland Spa is here.
Pros: Parking, Water View, Lunda
Cons: Tiny Space, Work on Flow in, front of clients
Posted 04/21/05
I get a lot of massages done, so sometimes it can seem pretty routine. When I called here, they recommended an ashiatsu massage. I didn't know what that was, but hey, they're the experts, right? I'm so glad I listened! After a nice (complimentary, thank you very much!) cup of green tea, I was led to a room with parallel bars on the ceiling. The therapist told me she would use these bars for balance while she worked on me with her feet! If she hadn't prepped me for the fact she'd be using her feet, I would have never known during the massage, except that she was able to apply the pressure I wanted in a way I've never quite felt through hands.
Their brochure calls ashiatsu "the most luxurious massage on the planet", and they might just be right! Truly a special and delightful experience.
Pros: ashiatsu massage, waterfront location, valet parking
