Cowcathers has a great atmosphere and furnishings. The food is good, not memorable. The biggest complaint I have is that the steaks taste too generic. When I go out to eat a steak at a steakhouse, I want some flavor and thickness. I will return, but if the steaks do not get appreciably better, not too many times.

Pros: ambiance, building, country setting

Cons: steaks do not have enough flavor

I am the owner of Cowcatchers Steaks Restaurant.

The young man in question was NOT, I repeat NOT terminated for missing a shift because he had enlistment proceedings and it was inconvenient for Cowcatchers.

I believe the author of this review received his information from an article that was written from the local Bulverde area. The article was written by the young mans Mother, without any inquires from Cowcatchers.

Cowcatchers understood he was enlisting and made arrangements to accommodate his schedule for his enlistment. He had missed several shifts with a no call no show which are grounds for termination. He was counseled by his manager and we made his schedule 2 weeks in advance to accommodate him. We have had several former employees that have enlisted and there has never been a problem.

The young man in question did another no call no show, he was subsequently terminated. He did on that day call another employee to say he would be late. He called the same employee again later to tell them he was not going to be in. He did not call anyone at the restaurant to tell them this. We were informed after the fact that he was not coming.

Do you think the recruiting office waited until the afternoon of the day it needed him for testing to tell him ?????

My father was a Marine and served in WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. He is buried at Fort Sam Houston. I fly a flag at my residence daily. We offer discounts to people in uniform, Military, Police and Firemen. We praise and pray for our Soldiers fighting around the world to protect us.

This is about an 18 year old boy who was not honest and truthful about the events of his termination with his Mother. I understand the response of the author of this review based on what he read. He was misinformed, just like the author of the article itself.

I welcome the author of this review to contact me personally for a converation of this matter.

Pros: I am the owner I have a positive outlook. we charge less for our dinners than some of our competitors cahrge for just their steak, large servings, no a la cart. Great ambiance, over 76,000 served

Cons: WE are not perfect but work to provide good service and a plesant experience for all our guests..

DIGUSTED -- I just read that Cowcatchers fired a young man after being informed he may miss his evening shift because of enlistment processing for the Navy. The 18-year-old boy had been employed there for 8 months and had done a fine job, but management and the owner found it unacceptable that this young man wanted to do something better with his life rather than wait tables. This is very unpatriotic to all of the Veterans who have made greater San Antonio their home. I enjoy a good steak as much as the next guy, but can guarantee I'll never step foot in this place. I have tried Cow Catchers 3 different time. Steaks are good, Service is very slow. You can expect this to become a night excursion (1-3hrs). You wait an average of 1 hr even if there are tables avail. If you complain expect an even longer wait. Management is only concerned with there friends and act as if you owe them something for walking in there door.
