I went to check out Cuba Libre, but as of 2 weeks it is now Agave, a place that still needs to work out many kinks. The service was extremely slow.

Being Los Feliz folk, we take pride in our restaurants that line Vermont. We've been to this place back when it was the retro Hollywood Hills restaurant. Then wet saw it was reincarnated as Tiger Lily, but it always looked empty-a bad sign in our eyes. How interesting that they split the place into TWO different restaurant! We've been over to Mes Amis. TRES BIEN! Definitely a step above the OTHER cafe down the street.

Anyways, we decided one evening to get our Mojitos on and try Cuba Libre as we love latin cuisine too! We REALLY wanted to love it, but it fell short unfortunately. The place was NOT packed, but the poor overwhelmed young lady at the host stand said it would be a 20minute wait. I used the restroom and looked at the floor plan of the place indoors. A very large party was inside so they had to push many of the tiny tables together. So it's a few booths and tiny tables. The host DID offer us an even smaller table on the sidewalk butt up next to one where two women were chain smoking. So we waited, but did get seated sooner. Our waitress was a cute latin gal that really knew how to charm my husband while not making me dislike her-guess she charmed me too! First mojito-fabulous. 2nd one-all ice and mint. I know this because I took one sip out of my straw and all the liquid was gone!! Our appetizers were good, and I ordered the skirt steak-a Cuban specialty. The rice was ice cold and the steak was fatty. The topping was also very cold and since it's a raw sauce, all I could taste was the cold onions and garlic smothering the grilled steak. Thanks goodness the plantains were edible. Everyone BUT us on the patio got bread and my husband could not eat his rubbery shrimp. We had bad tummy aches.

I think this place has a funky vibe that would be great if you have a group of friends that want to sit on a patio in Los Feliz and drink cocktails and nibble on appetizers.I would have to pass on the idea of coming for dinner again though,

So my friends and I had just read about this place in the LA Times a few days ago, and we were interested in trying it out. We weren't disappointed. Great vibe and decor, attentive service, and fantastic Sunday Evening Happy Hour pricing made this a great choice for a relaxed evening, and the mojitos weren't too bad either.

Re: Service. One of the waiters happened to have a slight accident with a drink out on the patio while we were outside, and he very quickly went to each individual table in order to made sure everybody knew that the patio was wet. Before we knew, it was all mopped up. Great handling of the situation, I'd say.

Pros: Ambience, service, Happy Hour Menu

For what you get, you pay too much. That said, it's not a nice interior and isn't a bad place to grab a drink. There are, however, better asian / asian fusion options in the area on Hillhurst.

We were there on one Thursday night for a night club they have. Nice crowd, nice music but a bit of lousy bunch in the crowd, probably like this guy below me!

2 glasses of cognac for 68 bucks??? THAT'S REDICULOUS, WHY DID YOU PAY FOR 2 IF YOU ARE GONNA COMPLAIN ABOUT IT???? You know this guy's sooooooo lying! Tiger Lily doesn't serve food anymore, so you know this guy is lying and talking out of his rear! That means that 1 shot was 34 bucks and I dont think they sold cognacs like that. Maybe Macallen 18, but this guy doestn know what hes drinking anyway. He probably got hennessey vs and think its the best.

It's better that this beautiful place doesn't invite these nasty guys anyway. It will leave more pleasant room and space for people like us that truly enjoy and appreciate the place. The service there is always excellent and all the bartenders and the barbacks are absolutely charming!

This place has the worst expensive food I have ever tried. I will never eat there again! A hair on my plate that wasn't mine. Enough said! I left early one night and one of the girls with me told me about how the owner was hitting on her and getting too close for comfort. Is this proper? Especially since she's only 24 years old? FYI, Don't get any of the burgers.... Horrible. Drinks, Too expensive and weak.

Pros: The neighborhood. Try the vermont or palermos Italian instead of here. Trust Me!

Cons: Food, Vibe, Too $$

So my boyfriend and I go out on monday night for a nice dinner out. Our luck we come to Tiger Lily! What were we thinking, food was less than below average. What? Do they pay less than $1.50 for a meal they charge us $30 on? I could've made this meal with my eyes closed and my hands tied! The drinks we ordered were horrible!!! AND they were expensive. My boyfriend and I don't like to complain but this place is dissapointing! To top it off a 2 inch brown insect ran passed the floor as we were leaving. I couldn't wait to leave this dirty place~!!

Food is dissapointing. Atmosphere . YUK! I tried posting this before but it seems it's getting erased. I met the owner (who I thought was a woman), then met a man who invited me to a drink and flirted with me all night who claimed to be the owner. Some blue eyed dark guy. I asked him if he was married and he said no! I just met his wife a couple hours earlier?! OR there's just some weirdos in here. Vibe was unreplenishing and if Its not dead it's cheezy. Did I mention overpriced and cheezy? This place is inappropriate!

I also came to this restaurant expecting the owner to honor the 1/2 off happy hour. The owner refused to honor the happy hour, thought his own staff including a manager and wait persone confirmed the 1/2 off price. We, the guests, were put in the position of trying to get the promised price as well as not compromising the waitress. The owner was unreasonable and beligerant. When I said that his attitude wouldn't be good for his business, he said write whatever you want online. Okay, I will. I will never go back to this restaurant. There are hundreds of great restaurants in LA who honor any promotions they have endorsed - this is not one of them. The owner threw me out of his restaurant when I protested and was very rude. DON'T PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT. I felt sorry for the wait staff.

Bar and wait staff are friendly, but not so competent. Been there a few times, (gave it the benefit of the doubt) but no more. The food is OK, but nothing to write home about. The owner is unbelieveabley unprofessional. If you want a nice dining experience, this is not the place. You can find much better for the price. There is a very long story that explains my opinion, but it would take too long. Take my word for it. I've been a waiter for 8 years, and I was very dissapointed, as you will be.

After reading on THEIR website that they offered discounted appetizers and drinks from 5-7, my three friends and I decided to try this place. Before ordering anything we asked the waitress to confirm the happy hour special. We asked specifically if drinks and appetizers on the patio would be 50% off. She said she'd never heard about a happy hour there (?!) but after checking with the MANAGER told us that we would get the 50% off. We ate and drank and the food was delicious. Then she brought us the bill, told us she'd been wrong about the discount, and that we'd have to pay a much higher price than promised. We questioned the OWNER and he was extremely angry that we wanted to pay the prices we'd been given before ordering our food and drinks. He said they hadn't offered happy hour in months, that the website was wrong. He said he was sorry his waitress and manager had misinformed us but that we'd have to pay the higher price. (He expected us to know more than his own staff!) He acted like he was doing us a favor by knocking a few bucks off the bill. It was only after a loud, heated argument that he adjusted the bill to reflect the discount we'd been quoted. He made a real scene, all because there was problem between him and his staff. He attempted to make that problem ours. Very, very bad service. I hope this was a genuine mistake and not an ongoing scam.

My boyfriend and I eat out alot, since I refuse to cook, so we get to try alot of new places. I realized that most of the places that greatest reviews usually are the worst . I read all the good and negative reviews before I went to this place just for kicks. It was the first time that I've read such mixed reviews about one place. We had to see it for ourselves. We went on a sat night pretty late at night 10ish. When we arrived the kitchen was closing in 15min! Still the waiter gladly seated us and even took time to give us a detailed description on certain foods when we asked. We tried alot of things and they were all good, but the mussels really stood out, we could live off those alone! Our waiter was the nicest and most informed server I have ever had and that's alot! He never made us feel rushed or ignored. I forgot his name but he will most likely be there since he seems to take great pride in the place. They had some sort of club thing that they were starting in the next room but that didn't bother us. So, I recomend anyone to try this place for yourself and maybe after your dinner you can dance the night away. Just remember to tip your bartender!
To the waiter: I gave your card to the promoter at my club. He liked the idea. Good Luck!

I guess it's my fault for just going by the # of stars this place got rather than actually reading all the reviews but this place is definitely not better than average! Don't get me wrong, it's really not a terrible place to eat and they do some things really well: the service, the decor, the music and overall vibe were all excellent. Except, I went there for a tasty bite to eat and was disappointed by the greasy and bland food. My date and I started with the dim sum appetizer combo then both ordered of the specials menu. I tried the black and white salmon and she ordered the seafood rigatoni. Presentation of the appetizer and main courses were excellent and the food came out hot and fresh but after one bite, we both knew that we would be choking the rest of our meal down.

Sadly, with so many great restaurants in LA, we won't be coming back here to eat again.

We went late last Sat night (after attending a tacky fight-night event) and the lounge side was rented out for a loud private party (Armenian?). An ambitious promoter from the party tried to charge us $25 for entry. As we were walking away, a waitress/bar tender from the restaurant ran up to us and offered us entry for no charge. She chastised the promoter and walked us in. We told her that we just wanted drinks and appetizers and she gave us friendly, courteous, and quick service! She sat us at a quiet table in the restaurant side, recommended great appetizers, and made our drinks herself. We had the popcorn shrimp and the Malaysian chicken skewers with ice cold and strong martinis! Though she was also working the private event, she checked on us often, brought us water, and refilled our drinks. She saved our evening! We live close by and will be back!

Cons: Parking is valet only

I found the dining experience to be absolutely wonderful. The ambiance was great and played really great music. The full bar offered a great menu of drinks. The bartender made one of the best martinis I ever tasted. Lastly, food was excellent. We ordered mostly beef and chicken dishes, and they were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My buddy was throwing an engagement party here for about 50 people. The management gave us a section of the restaurant that was closed off to the public. Service, management, drinks, food everything was excellent.

Special props goes to Evan. What service! He went above and beyond what was asked of him.

My girlfriends and I went there to have a nice gals night out. It was totally ruined by the worst service we ever had. We found this place from city search and trusted the good rating. It was a kind of Chinese fusion reastaurant. We went there on Friday night, but it was not packed. The food was okay. It was nothing make you 'wow'. I rather say I was disappointed. The portion was small,, it was too dark to see what's on the plate. I rather go to P.F Chang. The server didn't even come back to check with us. The bill came and they double charged one of the order. When I told them to fix that, the server didn't even apolgize for their mistake, but rather she seemed frustrated. When I asked for the original receipt for my copy, she said, "i threw it in the trash can, do you want me to pick it up from trash can?". Then my friends and I were so mad. We couldn't believe our ears. We asked for manager, and the manager blamed on how busy the server was. She even said maybe the server was having a bad day. Again, we couldn't believe what we heard. Why should we get afftected by how the server's feeling that day? omg,,that is her job,, and that was the stupidest excuse. They never apologize until we demanded for apology. Unbelievable!

A group of friends and I went to Tiger Lily for the first time during my birthday celebration. The decor is sleek and dark in a good way, and I anticipated what was in store for us later in the evening. We started at the bar with some cocktails and some of the martini concoctions were excellent! I had the Chinese Dancer which included lychee puree and it was absolutely delicious.
When we finally sat down for dinner and got our appetizers and entrees, however, the overall experience was a mixed bag. The first thing I noticed was that their menu was a pared-down version of the menu listed on their website, which disappointed a few of my guests. (Something of note to the owners to update?) The tiger lily dim sum was amazing, especially the goat cheese and mushroom wontons, and my boyfriend's main course of sole was literally melt-in-your-mouth. However, my friend ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which was nothing special, and later in the evening, two of my friends' green tea ice creams had shards of plastic in it! (They did get their desserts for free, though, kind of redeeming the experience.) My creme brulee trio was delish, even though one of the brulees was too watery.
We'll definitely come back again sometime for happy hour to take advantage of those great cocktails, but until the menu has been perfected (even if it means paring it down even further), I might hold off on patronizing the dining area again, especially for the price.
On a more positive note, our bartender AND our server were wonderful - cheerful, professional, and eager to please!

I was hanging out with a couple of friends from New York headed to the movie theater on Saturday Night and realized we were an hour early. We were walking down the street trying to decide on where to go for drinks as we noticed a hip artsy crowd of people going into Tiger Lily's Bar Lounge. My friends wanted to go in so we decided to give it a try. As we walked up to the door we noticed there was a big crowd inside and there was a Dj playing really good music that had pretty much everyone on the dance floor. Needless to say we never made it to the Movies and my friends met so many people that it was definitely a great experience for all of us!!!! To top it off there is no cover charge!!!! FYI i found out the Promoter (Lady L)for that night is now having Club Flash every Thursday Night (@ Tiger Lily's) and i am definitely going to be there!!!! Pros: Valet Parking right at the door, Great Music and Great Crowd with no cover charge!

Cons: Cant eat and Dance in the same room

We were at this restaurant last Sat. night, it was fantastic. We started at the bar for a happy hour appetizer of the best calamari I've ever eaten and Lily saketinis. We moved into the dining room for our entrees. It was hard deciding from the variety and a very innovative menu. We went the surf and turf route and shared the pan seared salmon that was cooked to perfection, moist and delicious and the grilled rib eye steak that was served rare, as we ordered, and was a nice blend of sweet and savory. The servings are plentiful, maybe too much, we vowed that next time we would save room for dessert. The service was excellent, our waiter was professional and very knowledge. This is a must try it to believe it

Pros: Like two restaurants in one

.

recently went to the tiger lily for a 23 person party meal. We had a party deal going for 30 bucks a person (not including tax and gratuity). Who ever wanted to partake in a 3 course meal of pre selected items from the menu shared it with everyone else who participates in the deal. If you didn't want to go that route, you can opt out and eat an item off the menu like a regular meal to yourself.

I chose to eat from the party meal- a mistake that i regret doing. The portions for the party meal are supposed to be shared with the people at your table. In my case 2 other people where sharing my food. Because the meal is meant to be shared-usually these portions are generous and meant to accommodate more then one person. Imagine my surprise when the amount of food that was served to me and my 2 eating buddies was equal to the amount of 1 dinner for a single person. AND that hat to be split 3 ways. A person who didn't buy into the party deal got an entree of ribs. The amount of side portions and the main course portions that this person got was equal- if not greater then the portions of our shared three-course meal.

So a person who paid less for the single entree got considerably more then what i got in our expensive family meal. Not fun. And what was served to us, the quality of the food is not worth the 30 bucks i paid. I've been to a place that charged me 30 bucks (tax and gratuity included) for a 1 square inch cube of fillet mignon. Not much at all. but every bite of that fillet was a fantastic menagerie of flavor-well worth the money invested. This food that we got at tiger lily was about as good as the best panda express has to offer. I really feel like i was ripped off.

In total i spent 40 bucks on a meal best served to a child. If you ever go to Tiger lily in a party group don't ever buy into a shared party meal plan. It's a waste of money. You get far more in a single entree. Don't end up poorer, and still hungry- like me.

Slow, Expensive, and not enough food for the people who paid for the "prefix" meal. Would not recommend for large groups. Our expectations and needs were not met for how much we paid.

This is how I look at it. I paid 40+ dollars for a meal (tax and gratuity included), and still wasn't full. We were led to believe that we could eat "all you can eat." if that was a misunderstanding, and it were "family style," there still should have been an abundance of food (or at least enough). There wasn't at all. Our friend at our table who paid a lot less than us ordered a regular entrees and got the same amount of rice as what was meant to be shared between 4 people who had the "prefix" menu. It just was not enough food. We asked for some more rice, but the server seemed reluctant about bringing it out.

Instead of fully being able to enjoy our friend's birthday, we were wondering if more food was going to come out or not. Most of us were a bunch of small asian people, it doesn't take too much to fill us up yet we felt we were ripped off.

Appetizers were ok. Portions for the shared entrees were small. The beef was too sweet and salty. The garlic chicken was kinda bland. Really though, the food itself was fine but didn't live up to the hype, there wasn't enough of it, and it was a pricey.

Even though the service was slow (understandably because we had a big party of 22 people), they waiters were extremely friendly and upbeat. It was a nice environment for our party, no doubt, but whoever ordered the "prefix" would expect to be full, but was left wondering "that's it?." The seating arrangements for a group our size was really really cramped. Still, thumbs up on the nice waiters and the atmosphere. That made it a bit more better of an experience.

I feel like this may be a nice place for a date (before the party gets started on the club portion of the restaurant), but not for large group parties.

Cons: Bad for Large groups, small portions, expensive, average food

Always empty, so I decided to give it a chance. BAD DECISION! The food and drinks are way over priced and the service is over bearing! We had the calamari which was soggy and lacking any flavor. Stay away from the seafood!! I was there on a Monday and to my surprise it was a night of some very untallented comedy and had me itching to leave consistantly throughout my meal. I will never go there again! This place needs to figure out if they want to be a pathetic club or a restaurant and put their energy into one area..... because right now they are both lacking taste!

I returned to find that the menu had changed. Before it was very good and now I just can't decide what to order, it all sounds so good. I had the Gnocchi (frankly it was the best I've had in Los Angeles)which was served in a very rich beef gravy, YUM. My date had the Blue cheese burger, it was obviously premium ground steak and it was cooked to perfection even though my date ordered it well done it was still moist. Our waiter was very helpful and when it came time for dessert he suggested we share the chocolate cake, it was just the right amount.

I am not a food critic but I do know good food when it hits my palate. This is my first time posting anything but I could not resist; what a fantastic meal we had at this place. Their black cod is so good even my 14 yr old loved it, cooked to perfection, moist and flaky in a delicate sauce that allowed the taste of the fish to come through complimented beautifully. We had ordered one dish to share but had to order seconds. The stuffed won tons with goat cheese and mushrooms were crisp and delicious, not at all over powering as I thought they might be. The baby back ribs were a perfect blend of sweet and savory and oh-so moist and tender. Every dish we ordered was delicious beyond expectation. After dinner we retired to their bar/lounge for dessert and coffee and were suprised by a stand-up comedy show (free). All I can say is that this place sure took the edge off Monday.

Pros: Relaxed professional service

Wow, this place was a big disappointment. Upon walking in to this HUGE and EMPTY restaurant, I got the sense that maybe someone knew something I didn't. Granted it was a Monday, but I've certainly been some highly rated and fabulous restaurants that were hopping even then. There was one other table seated and the morose host wanted to seat us at a cramped table directly in front of them. The next few minutes were spent just trying to find a comfortable spot in this place. We opted for the outdoor patio which was much cozier than the overwhelming emptiness and bad vibe of the main restaurant and had (temporarily until cigar smokers came) more fresh air than the sanitized bathroom smell of the bar. It also was concealed from the sound of the stand up comics that, unbeknownst to us, were scheduled for that night. Our waiter was professional and friendly. However, the gentleman clearing our table took a special liking to my lychee martini (which was pretty good), spastically moving it whenever he came by resulting in a spilled sticky mess. Unfortunately, the lone good service of our waiter could not make up for the quality of food. They had some really interesting sounding things on the menu, but they just didn't taste good. The tom yum soup was oily and lacked substance, the black cod was mushy and over-sauced, and the food came out at a little colder than I would have liked. I think they tried really hard to make this a nice place, but it is just lacking the really good quality food to keep people coming back. I think it would be a better idea to decide what they want to focus on: do they want to be a restaurant or a bar with entertainment? Could be they are stretching themselves too thin trying to find their niche, thereby diluting the quality all the way around. Additionally, on slow nights, they may wish to close off parts of the restaurant in an attempt to create a more crowded and cozy appearance. This place is just too big to have a slow night!

We went to Tiger Lily on a Saturday night after a nice dinner out ,for some drinks. The bartender-ette was very friendly and poured one heck of a Manhattan! But we went there primarily based on the user reviews that said the ambience and setting was very modern and sophisticated. Personally, I found the place itself less than average, and it seemed more like a neighborhood bar than a hip place to hang out.

If you're looking for somewhere to go close by for a quick drink, this is the place. But for a fancy night out, I wouldn't go again.

The ambiance is dark and trendy, the service is attentive and helpful. The menu, overall, is really intriguing, but only one of our dishes had any real pizzaz--the osso buco. Otherwise, although interesting, the rest of our dishes were fairly bland and non-descript. In addition to the osso buco, we had: Sweet corn and chicken soup, Monchurian chicken and vegetable fried rice. The adjacent lounge seemed nice, although we didn't stay long.

I came from the South Bay and went here for a girls dinner before a birthday party in Silverlake. All three of us were so impressed- we left wishing we lived closer to it! The service was superb- the waitress recommended different wines for us to try...she was attentive but not over bearing. The food was delicious - we had the pad thai, the dim sum plate, the tuna tartare and the calamari. Overall a pleasant experience!

I brought my girlfriend and my father here for dinner last weekend. I was instantly struck by how personable the staff was, and it was the first time that I had ever had the chef come out to ask me how my meal was and get some feedback.

We started with the popcorn shrimp and the ribs, both of which were incredible. Chef Eddie suggested a chilled bottle of red wine that was surprisingly tasty, and the wine went with everything we had from appetizer to desert.

After the appetizers, we ate family style and shared the pad thai, salmon, and chicken. All of the dishes were great, although I seriously couldn't get enough of the pad thai and I had to fight my girlfriend for the leftovers the next day.

We finished with the creme brulee and a mixed drink, both of which were great. The bar was willing to try to mix what I had in mind, even though it wasn't on the menu. The result was a tasty mango martini that couldn't have been better.

I was truly impressed by the flavor, personality, and uniqueness of the food at the restaurant, and I would highly recommend it to my friends. It's not often that a restaurant can make good thai, japanese and other asian foods under one roof, but this place somehow manages to pull it off.

Two of my friends and I went on a Sat. night. It was pretty mellow-the vibe was calm. The food was really good but very small portions. The waiters were all really nice. When we were in the bathroom, we heard cheers and came out to find a couple just got engaged. There was a dj but we didn't stay for any dancing. Try the chocolate cake with the "oohee goohey" filling to die for....order two cause it's small....

I just wanted to say that this place is absolutely amazing. I traveled the world (and still do) and I am a gourmand and I always expect good food and service, and I only eat at good places. I have a private chef at my estate so I know good food. This restaurant happens to be my favorite restaurant in LA! So all you people that are talking as if you know a thing about food are full of *#@*(things I can't say here). The black cod there is the best cod I ever had, their Dim Sum version is absolutely incredible, their Rib Eye is excellent and everything else I had on thier menu was outstanding. All I can say is this much, my husband hates lamb, and the chef their turned him into a lamb lover. My husband can't live a day with those skewers. I had to bring my private chef to try them to try to duplicate them. Of course the chef wouldn't tell all the secrets but close enough. And the owner here, what a gentleman. All restaurants, especially in LA, need to learn from these guys as far as food and service. I just want to say, if you haven't tried this place yet...you are missing out completely. Make your own judgment before you read these rediculous reviews...Bon Appetite

good service, food mediocre. everything SOUNDED great from the menu, and the waiter really talked it all up, but actually left me hungry due to the small portions, and disappointed in the quality of the fish, and dishes overall. not so great food - wouldn't go there again, even though the waiter was very friendly, and the chef came around to introduce himself afterwards. overall, not tasty enough, overpriced for the small portions. didn't thrill me.

My having traveled and lived in the Orient and in France has left me with the curse of being a big gourmand with a decent knowledge of European and Oriental cooking. Because of this, I have had a problem with fushion restaurants, as every one that I had visited in the States lacked the spice of Oriental cooking and character of the Euro flare they were trying to captivate ( ie the noodles would be bland, the meat tough and the sauces mediocre).
However, when my mother, husband, and I decided to have a fun evening out at the new Tiger Lily on Vermont, we were stunned by how fantastic the food was. My mother, being an incredibly hard-to-please food lover, went on and on for about 4 days as to how good the lamb was: tender and pink on the inside, crispy on the outside. The appetizers were utterly amazing, esp. the oyester, black cod, long beans, and shrimp sping rolls.
The key to this place are the sauces, which the knowledgable Edward ( chef) creates. His having trained in Paris and Japan really shines through in all of his dishes.
Great food. Great interior.

Since moving to Los Feliz 7 years ago, I've seen three different restaurants in this location. It's nice to know that they finally got it right. My date and I strolled in last night looking for a place to nibble (we both had wanted to try this new incarnation but as of yet had not). It was 8:30 p.m. on a Tuesday night and the place was rather quiet. The service, however, was prompt and friendly; and even though we were the last table of diners by 10p.m., we never felt rushed.
We started with a glass of wine and the curry mussels appetizers. I was worried because I'm a purist when it comes to mussels (white wine, butter, lemon, garlic and get out of my way!), however, I was impressed with the sauce and it wasn't as overpowering as I thought it would be (although I still think it should have been served w/lemon slices). We then moved onto the mushroom & goatcheese wontons; one word - sublime! We then shared the pan seared salmon. It was perfectly cooked and simply, yet beautifully served on a bed of rice. Two appetizers, two glasses of wine and a shared entree and we got out of there for about $60.

Out of all the eateries on Vermont between Franklin and Hollywood, Tiger Lilly probably has the most classy and romantic atmosphere.

We will definitely go back.

Had a friend in town from New York and the night she got in I decided to bring her here as I had not yet been myself . It was too late for dinner but we went to the lounge area and I must say, I couldn't have had a better mojito in Cuba! Excellent!! My friend commented how much the place had an east coast vibe and we both had a great time. The music was excellent (Sarah Vaugh, Nina Simone, Bjork, etc....they were all there, big voices filling the beautiful space). As much as I would love this place to get more recognition, I almost want to keep it a secret too. The bartender that night was a beautiful and a super sweet girl. She actually chatted with everyone and smiled! I will definitely go back for dinner next time...Classy place just to kick it minus the Hollywood bullsh*t.

Had a friend in town from New York and the night she got in I decided to bring her here as I had not yet been myself . It was too late for dinner but we went to the lounge area and I must say, I couldn't have had a better mojito in Cuba! Excellent!! Pros: Ambiance, valet, lounge

Cons: couldn't tell ya'

Whatever on the cool bar and music and people happy to smoke on the patio, all I want is to sit in those comfortably big booths and have a multi course meal served up like little tidbits of fun. Start me with the Raw Bar and Malaysian Roti Prata with Curry Sauce while drinking a bottle of Prosecco, and then some Hunan black bean Osso Buco with Shari Sotto, trying a new wine everytime. Yeah they missed a few things in the execution but Chef seemed totally intent on getting it right (our second plate of ribs was better than the first) and I beleive the owner is in sync too as he was manning the wok one night in a suit and tie, no apron, pretty cool. The place is big and decorated just right, and we love big red leather booths that are totally hip. . . Reminds us why other neighborhoods are so stiff. Place reminds me of a red haired Italian girlfriend I loved in Kuala Lumpur, but that's another story.

Pros: multiple spaces, great vibe, great lighting

Cons: a lot of courses are sweet and savory like trader vics, mr chow, chinois too.

I actually went for a drink and to scout it for a location. the only downside was waiting to be noticed for a good minute or two as the bartender flirted. By the way, it works as a couple different things - location wise, for those of you who care. Bottom line : i was taken in by the friendliness of the staff and decided to stay and try some of the food. I wasn't expecting to be wowed because after all we all have had asian fusion in L.A. The thing is, this isn't fusion as in french etc... it DOES fuse asian flavors though. We had the maguro sashimi, a creation called sake dynamite ... flash seared salmon on seared rice croquette with remmoulade (dynamite sauce) we also split the duck which we had medium rare... YUM. We thought wed be full but decided we could keep going and took the server's suggestion; the rib eye. It was described as a sweet well marbled 13 oz... and it was exactly that. I was actually hesitant to order it remembering a review i'd read of the 'sweetness', but knowing what to expect i took a shot. you know what I found it well balanced and sweet in an asian way. Granted we had it with the cotes du rhone and a strong pinot noir it balanced well with wasabi mashed potatoes. That's what made it for me. The whole asain sweet/spicy compliment. Oh and the wine! Ireally enjoyed myself and so did my husband. we will definitely be regulars. I was told things will be changing until they open in july or august. hopefully they don't take any of these diahes away. Oh and we went back to the bar for a drink and ended up making it our whole evening. it was perfect.

Pros: Fun food, feeling welcome immediately, great lounge

Cons: running out of room on the table depending on speed of food.

Yet another reason to stay away from the Hollywood/West Hollywood scene. My friends have been bugging me to drop by and check out this new joint for weeks. I don't go east of Vine so this took some effort for me. I couldn't have been more pleasently suprised or wrong! First of all the place glows with an undiscovered east coast old world quality shrouded in a myst of moody Asian mystic. West coast Italian tsar meets Memoirs of a Geisha. I would advise to get comfortable with the owner and staff before this place explodes. My friends and I settled into the smoking patio (The gods must be smiling) and ordered a few things off the menu. I generally stick to my liquid diet but the dim sum, bass, calamari, wasabi mashed, roti prata, and creme brule are all must trys. And I generally don't stray far from my single malts but ask the bartender about their summer martinis. I made the bartender give me their recipe for the strawberry lemonade martini (made with fresh strawberries) and the lychee martini will blo your mind. And these people have the nerve to offer great food (very reasonably priced for LA), great drinks, a smoking patio and then play everything from Etta James to Radiohead. Clearly they had a destination spot in mind. Thank you guys for a refreshing LA experience and look forward to seeing you soon.

I just tried Tiger Lily with a couple of friends. We are all very seasoned, very frequent diners. The bar area is beautiful, with an illuminated opaque glass bar surface, high cielings, very classy. The dining area is spacious and very comfortable with both booths and tables. The tables are beautifully set with clear glass square plates. The service is smooth, professional, friendly and helpful. It took us a bit of time to decide what to order. Everything on the menu looks so fantastic, it was hard to choose. The menu even has wine paring recomendations with each entre. The wine list is not huge, but has a good varity. Wine at the table is served in stemless wine glasses, which I hate. I asked for a proper stemmed glass and was promptly brought a perfect glass. The wine by the glass is served in a small carafe which makes it easy to pour a small amount at a time in your glass to swirl and enjoy. Items we ordered included a tuna and salmon tartar for the table, Oysters, salads with beets, zuccini and goat cheese, baby back ribs, duck breast, osso bucco and john dory. We all had great expectations. Unfortunately, the execution of the food doesn't quite live up to what the menu promises. This may be another restaurant with amazing recipes from a good executive chef poorly executed by uninteresed line cooks. The tartars tasted more of filler than fish. The salads looked very good but the dressing was bland. All of the meat entre sauces were way too sweet, and heavy. Good meat covered in thick candy sauce, the kind of sauce you'd expect from steam table chineese fast food. The baby back ribs were "fall off the bone tender" and had a good char, but the sauce was very heavy and sweet. The Duck wasn't as crisp as I like and was a bit too chewy. The sauce fell flat, slightly tanic, needing a brighter flavor. It was served with a round disc of rice that was very burnt on the bottom. The oso bucco was the best on the table, but still very sweet. The fish entre would have made a good appetizer. Most of the appetizers and entres were too small of a portion. Everything was just a bit underwhelming. All of us felt that all of the food fell short. Nothing was horrible. Actually everything was mostly good, but nothing was great. Nothing lived up to the menu. I'll try it again. The menu is fantastic. I hope the cooking gets better.

Decor is swanky. Service impeccable. Drinks were replenished. Stunning presentation of food juxtaposed with its delectable flavoring. Good place for a romantic evening, groups or a business meeting. Brings back the class of dining out.

This place is amazing! It's simply HOT! The Bartenders are HOT, the place is beautiful, and the food is great. The atmosphere has a very classy upscale vibe and sort of takes me back to the sweet Poshy East Coast scene. My company and I had a wonderful time. Lots of class, upscale, and sooo laid back. Wow. The food is unlike any I have ever tried, it all tasted very good. The bar and bartenders are simply fun to watch while having a creative cocktail.

The food was delicious! The place is classy, dark, and quiet. I was a bit surprised that there was hardly anyone eating there on a Saturday evening, but I quickly found out from the attentive server that the restaurant was only a few weeks old. I would definitely recommend this place to eat if you love atmosphere and great food! Too bad it's not in a better location though. Let's hope this place keeps it up even when they get busier!

I brought my birthday party there on last Sat nite, and we just had a ball that whole night! We had my birthday dinner around 7:30 pm, the food and martini were just heavenly i tell you! My ablsolute favorite was their black cod and reb-eye, and my boyfriend just fell in love with their duck, and he usually never eats duck! The service staff was great, everybody treated me like they've known me for years, really cool about explaining wine, man these people just know what they are doing! After we got full and wasted from martinis and wine (try their wine list it is amazing!), we moved to their real cozy patio and drank more, and ended up leaving their when they closed! I mean can you find any place like that around here where you can spend the whole night chilling? If you havent been there yet you will definetely have to goooooo!

If I could say somethings in a nutshell about this restaurant it would be: amazing food, fantastic service and a fun fun fun place to go to hang out and get drinks. I had the most amazing black cod there ever. I have had black cod in the best restaurants in town but let me tell you...this was the best. My husband had the Rib-Eye and he was exstatic about it. Best Rib-Eye he's had since he left texas (10 yrs ago). I think that other restaurants need to learn something from these guys because they are different from everybody else and this is not just any other ordinary restaurant that just opened, as far as food and service goes. Awsome job guys...I'll be back many many more times!

This place just opened a few weeks ago and it is beautiful. The staff, managers and chef are trying real hard but they do need some improvement. Service was a bit erratic and disorganized. Quality of food varied widely, wasabi mashed potatoes and drunken chicken were outstanding but curried fries and skewers very disappointing. Place has great potential but needs some fine tuning.

I saw their review here and I didn't believe it untill I tried it myself. I was there on saturday with some girlfriends and we just were blown away by the look of the place and I was thinking to myself...I hope the food is good. Let me tell you, I had a few saketini's with my friends, some appetizers, and a main dish to share and we were like "OMG this is the best food I ever had". We were all in aww of the food and place. What ever these guys did, they did it right. What made it even better was that the chef came to our table to greet us after our meal which we thought was so nice and cool. We were treated like royalty, and ate like em too. Food was so so good you have to try it. Best in town guaranteed.
