The office help is pleasant and helpful. The prices are outrageously high. Convenience isn't worth the price.

Dr. Zern is one of the best vets in the Orlando area and I've lived here for 20 years. He is the ONLY vet I use and the ONLY vet I recommend. You will not find a better orthopedic surgeon or diagnostician in Orlando. If you need a leg/hip repair or have a pet with something "complicated", this is the place to go.

This is the best place for vet care in the area! Dr. Zern is down to earth, highly educated, very skilled and will not pull any punches. He tells the truth and lets you decide what you want to do. The staff is wonderful - everyone loves animals, is professional and friendly.

Dr. Zern handles difficult surgeries on a routine basis. He personally diagnosed my pup with an eye disorder (she makes no tears). Two other vets missed this and I was sent to the specialist in Maitland. I paid a ridiculous amount of money to have everything Dr. Zern said confirmed.

Dr. Zern also removed a cancerous growth from my cat that another vet chose to ignore.

My animals always come home healthy and happy from any stay at CVH. This is the place to go if you want excellent vet care. Prices are in line with any other vet in the area.

They were very quick to get me in. The staff was really nice. But the doctor is HORRIBLE! I have had 2 issues there and will NEVER go back. My cats eyes were acting weird. One night something was wrong with the right the next night it was the left. So, I took him in to CVH. The nurse was great. The Dr came in, did 3 tests, and gave me medication but couldn't actually diagnose the problem. Cost me $300 and we still do not know exactly what was going on! THEN my dog broke his leg, I took him in to CVH. The Dr suggested that I have his leg amputated because it would be cheaper being that I was concerned with cost (only by $300). I told him there was no way that I would do that when his leg could clearly be fixed. He told me that they do not do payment plans and good luck finding someone as good as him who did accept payment plans! I was offended. He said (word for word), "Good luck, you are free to go!" So I picked my dog up and walked out. No help opening doors or anything. 2 months later they call me and want me to pay him $40 vet visit fee. He didnt even do any tests on him. He took his temperature and that was IT! When I asked why they were charging me, the nurse said because I occupied the room for 35 minutes! I will NEVER EVER take any animal back there. I have 4 and I will be finding some where else to go. Preferrably somewhere that has a compassion for animals! These are my children. I treat them that way, I would expect the doctor to do the same! Do not go there!!!!!

Business Response:

Cat -Exam, one test, medication for 5-7 days, return/recheck if no improvement. Did not return for further treatment. Total bill $87.14. Puppy seen as follow up from Vet Emerg.Clinic. Exam performed, fractured femur confirmed, treatment options offered, both surgical repair & amputation. Client declined any treatment, said she would find DVM that would accept payments. Dr. Z advised it was her choice, but be cautious in choice, fracture required IM pins & KE apparatus, not just splinting. Dr. wished her luck -difficult to find DVM's that accept payments. Called client to check on puppy next day, left message re: $18 exam fee on account, asked her to call us. No response to this call, or messages left 2 weeks &1 month later. After receiving invoice, client called to dispute charge, saying doctor "didn't do anything". Explained that Dr. examined puppy, must charge for his time and professional opinion. As courtesy, charged $18 Recheck, not $42 Exam Fee. Client clearly upset with ultimate outcome of her puppy, after being treated elsewhere. Seemed to understand our charge, stated she would bring payment to CVH. Have not received any further communication from client.

Our Jack Russell Terrior's front leg was broken in an accident one night. Being new to the area, we didn't know where to go. We went to the Emergency Clinic and were astounded at how extremely high priced they were. The only good thing to come of it was they recommended Dr. Zern at Chuluota Veterinary Hospital. What impressed us the most, was Dr. Zern came immediately out to the lobby when we arrived and gave our puppy a pain killer. No waiting around in the lobby until he was free. His first concern was to ease our dog's pain. Dr. Zern was able to operate and put pins in the leg. We went back weekly for checks and were very happy with the staff and how we were treated each time. Now, 4 months later, our Jack is running around like nothing ever happened! Although we have to drive about 40 minutes and past 3 other veterinary clinics to reach him, we will always stay with Dr. Zern and Chuluota Veterinary! He truly cares!

Recently acquired a puppy and picked CVH because of convenience and referrals. Found the staff to be very personable and knowledgeable. Dr Zern took the time to listen to, and answer, all the questions I had in raising a new puppy.

Have been back twice and will continue to take my pets to this Vet.

I TOOK OFF WORK BECAUSE I HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH DR.ZERN. MY DOG WAS NOT FEELING WELL AND WAS HAVING MAJOR EAR PROBLEMS. THE OFFICE CALLED ME 1 HOUR PRIOR AND CANCELED MY APPOINTMENT DUE TO EMERGENCIES. I WAS UPSET, BUT UNDERSTOOD THEY HAD AN EMERGENCY. THEY TOLD ME MY ONLY OPTION WOULD BE TO DO A "DROP OFF" APPOINTMENT WHERE I BROUGHT HER IN AT 1:30 AND WOULD PICK HER UP BY 5:30 AT THE LATEST. I DIDN'T LIKE THE IDEA OF NOT SPEAKING TO THE DR. BUT I COULDN'T GET OFF ANOTHER DAY OF WORK. I DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM THE OFFICE THEN RECEIVED A CALL AT 5:30 STATING TO COME PICK HER UP AND SHE WAS NOT SEEN TODAY. I WAS SO ANGRY. THEY DIDN'T TELL ME THERE WAS EVEN A POSSIBILITY THIS COULD HAPPEN. DO NOT GO HERE.

Business Response:

This was a very rare and unusual situation, where we had multiple emergencies in one day. As a single doctor practice clients get the benefit of seeing the same DVM at each visit. However, in these rare cases, he must treat those patients that are in critical condition first, and then in order of need. We feel certain that this is what most would want if it invovled their critically or seriously ill pet. We sincerely regret the inconvenience that this client experienced and expressed this to her.
