great food  4 Star Rating - Very good

This restaurant has great stir fry and other great traditional chinese dishes. They also have some that you see in an ordinary Chinese restaurant in the US.

What a rip off! 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

My husband and I will never be back to the place! They didn't tell us the prices of dim sum plates. Cart ladies pused us to get something different that we asked questions. I guess they pushed more pricy plates! Moreover, our bill was already included a 15% service charge! Hello? We were just 2 adults. We found it before we handed our credit card. When it was back, they already removed the details and just gave us credit card receipts to add tip and sign. We were glad we found the service charge!

Pros: none
Cons: rip off, price was not clear at all!

Good, solid Chinese food in Union Square... 5 Star Rating - World class

Had dinner at Tian Sing just last night (7/5/08) and it was quite good. The decor is quite nice, the restaurant wasn't over-crowded on a Saturday night and the service was very attentive, but not at all intrusive. Although they do make and serve Dim Sum, it's a bit on the expensive side, and although it is quite good, I wouldn't come here for a true dim sum experience, the dim sum here are more like appetizers or side dishes. In other words, they only have one lady pushing around one of two carts, one for fried plates and one for steamed, so I wouldn't say this is a true authentic dim sum restaurant, I'd say it's more like a chinese restaurant that also serves some dim sum, too. So, that having been said, we had the Beef with String Beans, which was excellent, and the Chicken with Cashew Nuts, also excellent, although it had some celery in it, which I, personally, feel always overpowers the subtler flavors of any dish it's in, but my wife, however, loves it. Plus, we also had a few plates of dim sum as appetizers- some spring rolls, some chicken satay on sticks in a nice curry sauce, and some chicken-stuffed mushrooms, all very very good. Dinner for two, with a couple of Tsing Tao beers, came to $67 including tip, and it felt like a good value. So, if you're in SF, in the Union Square area and don't want to shlep all the way over to Chinatown to wait in line for an hour for your dinner, try Tian Sing- it's a few steps off the beaten path, but very very good. We'd go back in a heartbeat, and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Pros: Very good Chinese food outside of Chinatown
Cons: Small selection of kinda pricey dim sum

Food is not bad, but pricy 4 Star Rating - Very good

Read the review and went there for DimSum because it is close by to our hotel.
The food is not bad, but it is a little bit pricy. We (2 people) order 10 samll DimSum dishes and the check is mroe than $60. They also charge %15 of srvice fee in the bill.

Pros: Food and Service
Cons: Price

Dim Sum - Yum! 4 Star Rating - Very good

My husband and I stopped in on a whim late Saturday morning for dim sum, and we really enjoyed our meal. The service was prompt and friendly. They offered a great selection of delicious dim sum, chosen from the carts. The dishes were all very fresh -- some of the best dim sum we've had in SF, and we've had a lot! Decor was also very nice -- we liked the exposed brick "dragon" on one side of the restaurant. Nice natural light from the wall of windows, and a semi-open style kitchen.

Pros: Overall excellent and yummy food, good service, great selection.
Cons: The wide table base made for uncomfortable seating for my tall husband; sweet sesame rolls were not as fresh tasting as the rest of the dishes.

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place. A great addition to the Union Square area eateries. Oh, and regarding the prior post about parking -- hello?!? This is SF! Never park on the street without paying a meter and carefully checking the street signs. One can, however, find cheap and easy parking a block away at the Ellis/O'Farrell garage for just a few bucks.

Pros: Great selection of delicious dim sum
Cons: Tables

Fantastic Chinese in Union Square 5 Star Rating - World class

This is a great dim dum place in Union square, comparable to Yank Sing! I thought Yank sing was it for dim sum in SF, but Tian Sing does mean dim sum without the crazy rush madness. Its about a block away from powell street near Bart. Highly recommended!
