I love this restaurant! The food is amazing, fresh and delicious and the staff (especially the owners) are really friendly and always make us feel welcome. They've been a great addition to our neighborhood and i can't recommend them

The Valentine's Day dinner at Ohana are nothing short of amazing. Everything was made from scratch with fresh ingredients. We expected it to be good; we didn't expect this good. The prix fixe dinner included Hawaiian ginger chicken salad with macadamia nuts, ribeye steak with wasabi yukon mashed potatoes, and roasted garlic crab over noodles. Dessert was Kona coffee creme brulee, and coconut cake. The owners said they put their "heart and soul" into these special menus. Sublime perfection.

This is an excellent Hawaiian BBQ neighborhood eatery any day of the week . The special occassion dinners will knock your socks off. Wow.

Love the Kahlua pork. This cafe has great & tasty meals for your dollar and the owners are very nice. One of the favorite desserts I like to get is the Sweet Potato Pie..and no it's nothing like pumpkin pie trust me..you just have to try it!
Atmosphere is to be desired and could use a little improvement but all in all. thumbs up.

The simplicity of good bar-b-cue from any culture is it doesn't hide anything and that is the case here. Tasty, well crafted meals that are reasonably priced and the folks that run it are extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room is clean and inviting. Recommended for a quick, healthier lunch.

Being born and raised on Oahu, I know very well that some of the best places to eat in Hawaii are little hole in the wall establishments, where the focus is on the food, not the decor or ambience of the place. Ohana Hawaiian Cafe reminds me of home for a number of reasons. The food is very well-seasoned and tasty, and the meats are fork tender. The decor leans towards more of the utilitarian side. The restaurant is clean and functional, but not fancy, reminding me of my favorite eateries back on Oahu. My favorite local dish is hamburger steak, and Ohana Hawaiian Cafe makes an excellent one, topped with onions and a very tasty gravy. My husband, who was raised in Oregon, loves the mixed plates...especially the Ohana mixed plate, which includes great short ribs and kalua pig. The lomi lomi salmon here is also delicious, and I normally don't even eat lomi lomi salmon. I love the fact that you can get shaved ice here too. These guys from the Big Island sure know how to cook!

Ohana Hawaiian Cafe is such a great restaurant! The food is excellent and the service is exceptional. The waitress that served us was so friendly both times we came. The second time we came as a large group the owner went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our dinner and to find out how everything was. We were blown away by the servings we received for the amount they charged. It is a great family restaurant and for just going out with friends! We will definitely be back.

The Ohana is just okay. It was not bad or especially good. I did not like the sides that well, but the grilled meat with rice was okay. The kimchee was also not authentic.

The pulehu ribs were fantastic, the bbq chicken - not so much. The mac salad is not the best. They have decent shaved ice. The purple sweet potato & haupia pie with macadamia nut crust and whipped topping with toasted coconut dessert (yes that is ONE dessert) was super ONO! I would recommend this place, but only certain dishes. I've been there 3 times and the owners are super nice.

I was in this cafe for the first time this past weekend, and it made such an impression on me and my wife that we wanted to promote the place as much as possible. The combination of the unique flavors and the family service was awesome. It seemed as though they were busy, but they still took the time to stop by, smile and ask us how the food was. Our server was very patient and answered all of our questions about the food; Some of which we gad never heard of and were curious about. The cook got a break for a minute and went from tabbl to table asking how the food was and thanking people for coming. The place has a simple cafe style atmosphere with tables and chairs much like a family dining room. The teriyaki was good teriyaki, but the kalua pork and beef teriyaki were amazing. They have several unique Hawaiian deserts and while we were there a family of nine came in for shaved ice for everyone. This is a low key place with great food and large portions. lt is like you are over at a friends house and his mom is cooking for you. When my wife and I go to a restaurant and we want to eat something that we probably couldn't recreate in our own kitchen and that is exactly what we found at Ohana's. Great food that we couldn't make ourselves at home coupled with great service and a casual and friendly environment. We will definitely be going back.

I reaaally wanted to like this place. I've eaten here three times now, with an open heart and mind and I have yet to be impressed. The graphics are great (love the logo) the idea is great, location is great - but there is something missing. Could it be...a feeling of home? 'Ohana' means family in Hawaiian. The name is supposed to embark feelings of fresh cookies out of the oven, an aunty's big bosomed hug, huge portions of comfort food...but dining at Ohana's made me feel none of it. The teenager who took my order was checked out, seriously. No warm familial interaction at all. And the cook seemed to be robotic in preparing the food. The ambiance was lacking thanks to uncomfortable furniture and a cold interior. It all came together in the food, which was probably the antithesis of "Like Water for Chocolate". What is going on here? I just don't get it. I guess my ohana is not their ohana.

Cons: cold and not very friendly

Stopped here today because I love to explore new hawaiian restaraunts. I had the waimea platter, with the Teriyaki Chicken and the Kalua Pork. Both were quite yummy, and moist, although the pork had a little bit too much of a smoke flavor. The Mac Salad definitely left something to be desired. Just a little too dry. The Coconut Haupia was DELISH! I would eat here again in a heartbeat.......Only one big detractor: The Iced Tea, which was $2.50 a glass and NO refills!

The wife and I were passing through Portland and based on the 2 previous reviews and the fact that it was within 5 minutes we stopped in. We were very pleased with the whole experience. The staff was very friendly and Matt took time to talk to all the patrons. He also answered my questions about getting around the area.

The food was excellent. Both flavorful AND plentiful! The prices were very reasonable especially considering the portion sizes (we had enough left over for a small meal that evening)...would have had more except I ate my entire meal...couldn't help myself!

The wife had the Waimea plate which was 2 bbq boneless chicken thighs, a generous portion of kalua pig, 2 scoops of rice, and mac salad. I had the Sumo plate which had a pile of thin sliced, teriyaki pork, 2 bbq boneless chicken thighs, 2 cross cut Hawaiian style ribs, 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. All the meats were perfectly seasoned and moist. The rice had the right stickiness to it...not too wet, not too dry. That in itself says alot.

Stop in, you will not be disappointed!

Pros: The food and friendly atmosphere

Cons: parking is on the street ...but hey it's a excellent place to eat so I'd deal with it.
