We purchased a Fisher Paykel Washer and Dryer In late September 2009 it is now June of 2010 and we still have no resolution on the
off balance issue with the Washer. Standard has been no help for us at all and has not done and will not do anything for us until the Warranty is expired. Then the service contract is supposed to kick in and they will talk to us.
This issue started the day the washer was installed and 9 months later we still have the problem. Every time we wash anything we have to run down stairs and reset the machine because it goes off balance.
This company has treated us so poorly that we have started buying our appliances, Televisions etc from Best Buy. So far their service has been excellent.
We bought about $5,000 worth of appliance in January from Standard. When one of the ovens (for a rental) was delivered, both handles were broken. We did not see this until later, since the remodeled kitchen was not quite ready for the oven to be installed. I called our sales person and she said she would handle it. A week later, after hearing nothing back, I called her again. She said I would hear something in the next day. Again, a week later I called again saying I've heard nothing. So, I called and asked to speak to someone in customer service or a manager. The receptionist was extremely rude. After transferring me to the installation department, I called back and asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation and he told me that there was nothing Standard could do because they had a "policy". I said, "You delivered a faulty product to my home and now you want me to pay a restock fee to have the oven replaced?" After a 20 minute conversation on how poor their customer service is and how I could not believe how they were handling the situation, KJ (the manager) said that if the company wanted to replace the oven, then they could. But, Standard would not. The best they could do is have the handles shipped to our home and installed. (By the way, there is no way to reinstall the broken handles without taking the entire oven apart, which is why we wanted it replaced). These guys are RIDICULOUS and I cannot believe in today's economy this is how they choose to behave with the few customers who remain out there.
We came in to Standard TV and Appliance not really sure of what we were looking for and received very good service. The sales person asked if we needed help but also gave us space to look around on our own. Even though we did not end up purchasing something on that visit, the sales person continued to be helpful and we will shop there again.
Great place to purchase appliances, sales people are not pushy and are ready to answer questions to help you make a good decision. Their delivery service is great even when you purchase the wrong size and have to return it. Have purchased several appliances and have been very happy with the service I received and would recommend to anyone.
This showroom features a finished kitchen for almost every appliance brand they sell. It definitely shows the appliances off, and also gives the buyer great ideas for countertops, sinks, and overall kitchen design. The girl I worked with was very knowledgeable and had great suggestions. Check out this store if you're in the market for new kitchen appliances.
In the 10 years that I have dealt with this company they have gone from a great locally owned business that was reputable to deal with to just another big box store that will say anything to sell the most expensive model of appliance on the floor. Recently I was up sold on an appliance that I was promised would be in stock the following week and would be worth the wait (most expensive of it's type on the floor - I was looking at a Manager's Special - in stock, reasonably priced). Four weeks passed without the appliance coming into stock. Each time I called the sales person said it would be in within the next couple of days and each time seemed to think that it was hilarious that it wasn't in yet and that I was being inconvienced. I finally had to cancel the order (that was a hassle with them as well) and go to another store to purchase a similar appliance.
It's sad to see a once reliable, local business deteriorate into just another money grabbing big box store.
Pros: Locally Owned
Cons: Turned into just another Big Box store
We had Standard come out and look at our dryer that was on the fritz. First of all, they said they would call to schedule a time and we never heard from them. Then they just showed up unannounced. The technician was very nice and told me I might need a new part. He suggested I order it and just monitor the dryer in the meantime. If it wasn't acting up anymore, he said to just call and cancel the part. He also asked what day in the next week would be good for them to come out - I said Tuesday. My husband then got a call from them that they tried coming out for the original service call and no one was home. He explained that one of their technicians did in fact come out. They then said there was no way the part would be in by Tuesday. Meanwhile, our dryer was working just fine again, so I called to cancel the rest of the service. The guy on the phone told me that I was just charged for the labor ($130), but I was looking at a receipt that read $290 (part + labor). He was very condescending and again told me there was no record of being charged for the part. I told him I would check with my bank and call back if there were any descrepencies. There were - I was charged the full $290. He said he had no record of it, but that he would be sure my card was credited back. The bottom line is that they are incredibly disorganized, I can't believe they are running a business! The guy on the phone later called back and said he found the info and that my card would be credited back in a week - JUST LIKE I TOLD HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE! I never got any kind of an apology.
Pros: Good selection of appliances
Cons: HORRIBLE service!
