Messob is a hidden gem! The vegetarian menu is full of great dishes without a worry on whether or not the food has been prepared properly. It's a small place with no extra 'fluff' but the food is delicious, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable.

This place is a gem! The flavors of the food are rich and delicious. They have a great vegetarian menu, so I can go there with any of my friends. I especially love eating the lamb! The service is also really great, definitely a must to visit!

Located right on Piedmont Ave, this place has a great location and terrific food. The owners/service is really nice and good. It is a small restaurant--not the most atmosphere, but the food is great for a good price.

Best ethiopian i've had

I felt compelled to give this place a shout out. The food was much better than I expected; a diamond in the rough. The kitfu was outstanding and the beef cubes as well. The honey wine is worth the price, and according to the bottle, bottled here in oakland! so i'll be looking to pick some more up. If you've never had ethiopian, or any african food, dont let this place intimidate you! It's easy to pick up (no silverware!) and the flavors will impress! Give'm a shot, they really deserve the business.
Pros: outstanding food quality and flavor
Cons: interior is a little bland, but that's not why we eat is it?

this is undoubtedly some of the best ethiopian food i've ever had...the mesir wot is amazing and i love the beef kitfo.the injera is impressive...not the harshly tart or rubbery feel of many places i've been to, which tends to overwhelm other dishes. instead, messob's injera is light and slightly tangy.
the service was friendly and the portions are generous. plus - you can order ahead and pick up your food in 20 minutes or so! highly recommended
