The Peru Bergner's has THE rudest, most arrogant sales clerks in the area! I've had multiple instances where I was either treated rudely or ignored altogether by salespeople.
On the evening of April 18, I stopped at the Estee Lauder counter to make a rather large fragrance purchase. There were two sales clerks at the Estee Lauder counter. One was not doing anything, the other was just finishing with a customer. They both saw me. Neither acknowledged me and neither offered to help. The customer that one clerk was finishing with offered to wait but the clerk ignored her comment. On May 7, I was in Bergner's for a return at the Juniors department. The clerk was talking to another clerk and gave me a dirty look as she stomped up to the register. I returned two shirts and she argued with me that a third - same brand, same price, same style, different color - hadn't been purchased on that receipt. I showed her where it had and she told me that wasn't the same shirt. She took my bag, threw the remaining shirt and ticket across the counter at me. I left. I am returning the remainder of my merchandise to Bergners, will pay the remainder on my Bergners charge and will not shop at the Peru store again. The service is slow, awful, rude or nonexistent. Cannot understand how this store stays in business in the Peru Mall!!

My daughter and I shopped the Galesburg ,. Bergners store and were so pleased with the service we received from a very friendly efficent sales lady. Her name is Bette Rakers. She went out of her way to be help and to give us information on sales and specials. I just wanted to let you know what a great asset she is to your store.
I shop Bergners at Galesburg several times a month and can really count on find what I need at a good price.

I am very disappointed with my outing tonight at bergners at the peru mall il. I returned two cosmetic products unused with the original receipt about two and a half weeks ago.Tonight i was told that since i have returned products before, i cannot purchase anymore, which i have been a customer for more than ten years. I am very upset and i was told in a very abrupt manner that i am not allowed to purchase from bergners and that i am banned from purchasing. I feel this is unfair and i was not contacted by phone prior to going into the store. Bergners has my phone number but no one has contacted me on this situation. I have had some issues recently, i just started a new job recently. I had been let go of work previously for a year and a half due to the economy. I had a vehicle emergency, which my vehicle has had to have major work done at a garage.This is my transportation to work.This is the reason i returned these products. I was going to repurchase some items tonight but i won't be doing that now. I feel very upset and i thought that bergners would be an understanding company, but i have no choice but to place my business with a different company.

Today I had a very GOOD! salesperson help me with my purchase. She was pleasant and upbeat and happy to help me. Her name is Cheryl O. and you are very lucky to have her in your Peru store. Most of the time I cringe when I have to have someone help me in most departments in the Peru store. I hope her personality rubs off on your employees, thats from the store manager down. 5 Stars to you Cheryl O.

Yesterday I had my arms full of clothing that I was going to buy at Bergners in Peru. I had a few more things I wanted to try on, and approached the check out to ask if I could leave the pile I was purchasing at the counter. I held up the other things I was trying on. The sales woman asked me if I saw the other piles at the counter and if I was going to be gone two hours. I repeated that I was just trying on a few things (3 shirts) right here in the store, and it wouldn't take long. The sales woman made another remark about not being able to keep things for two hours. I said ok., I would keep the things with me then and carried all my things back to the dressing room. She followed me to the door of the dressing room and said she would take them. I said very politeIy I would keep them. She took them out of my arms and said she would keep them at the desk. I have had very polite sales women in this area, but not on this day. This is the third incident at this store in the last 6 months.
The first incident happened in the shoe department. When I got a box of shoes from the sales woman and opened the box, the leather of the shoes was obviously different. I took the box to the counter and showed the sales woman. She said she didn't "think there were anymore." She made no move to check to see.
The second incident took place in the shoe department also. I had asked for a variety of shoes in my size. The sales woman brought several boxes. One box was one I hadn't asked for. I went back to the counter to ask for the correct one. I sat back down to try on shoes. The sales woman brought the box, but called me from the counter to come pick it up. She was on her way to her break. It was not crowded at that time. As a matter of fact, two other sales women were standing behind the counter talking at the time.
I have bought shoes in the shoe department of Bergners in Peoria. They are extremely helpful and polite, but the service at the Peru store in some cases leaves a lot to be desired.
