Absolutely amazing! I'm from Long Island, NY and lived in Las Vegas for about 10 years, this office is far superior to any other I have experienced! \r
Dr. Richard Jackson and his wife Angela are wonderful! So glad we decided to move

Decent facility overall, but the membership policies are horrible once you actually understand them. They tout the month to month membership but it takes an act of God to actually terminate your membership and then they still bill you for an extra month.

The staff is very pleasant UNTIL...you don't go along with their orders and then it's night and day.

I had some issues which could have been resolved, but the minute I complained no one wanted anything to do with me.

By the time I was mad enough to cancel, the last thing I was told was I would be turned over to collections.

This, after NEVER ONCE being asked what was bothering me about the facility or the services....NEVER ONCE.

Ive been a member here for about 3 years. The Wellness Center has the best facility in town and a pretty good staff of managers and trainers. It is a very clean place. The only negative thing to be said about the upkeep is the young girls/guys at the front desk dont empty out the used towel bins very often. I'm not sure if they think its below their pay grade but you can almost guarantee a towel bin so full of used towels you have to cram yours in the door just to get it to fit. I joined to play basketball and overall have had a good experience for the first 2.5 years but lately there is a bad trend taking over the courts. Parents around town with high school aged and younger children have realized that they can pick their kids up from school and drop them off at the Wellness Center for what amounts to a $50 a month daycare center until later in the night when they decide to pick them up. This has led to the courts being overwhelmed with 10-20 13-17 yr old kids mon-fri which is not a good time for any men who enjoy playing. Your options at that point are basically to try and get the kids to leave the court or play a 4 on 4 game with maybe 5 men(5'6"-6'6" 170-250lbs)with average to high skill level and 3 kids (5'1" 90-140 lbs) with a low skill level playing in the same game. Full grown men having to babysit/incorporate junior pro kids into the games is very LAME. The gym knows about the problem but has yet to do anything about it because I assume 50 bucks is 50 bucks to them whether it comes from the parent paying the 50 for daycare or the long-time dedicated member who has enjoyed this place for years. I suggest a "no minors unless accompanied by an adult" policy or maybe assigning kids night, preferrably on a tues or thurs as the men have been playing ball on mon, wed, and sat. for years.

In terms of facilities in the Tri-Cities, it does not get any better than the Wellness Center. I temporarily tried out various other facilities, which shall remain nameless, and was thoroughly unimpressed with both the facilities and the staff at those places. Even though the price may a little more than other places, they offer a wide array of group classes for every fitness level taught by patient and kind instructors who are true professionals; however, you should pay attention to what fitness level they have marked the class as. A person with a lower fitness level will probably find taking a more advanced class unsatisfying and frustrating. I found I had questions about which classes would fit my own fitness needs and was able to get good advice from the friendly folks working at the front desk. I see a lot of neigh sayers below, but from my own personal experience I could not be more satisfied with my workout experience. I have experienced none of the elitism mentioned below, and that is not because I am an insider. I have only been in town and working out regularly at the Center for a little over a year.

I also sensed an air of "entitlement" there. The staff is rather cold unless they believe you are one of the cliques. The facility is lovely, clean and well kept, but that does not alleviate the feeling of eliteism that prevails there. My income is in the six figures, but I get the feeling that I don't fit their member profile.
I mistakenly believed this was about fitness.

I must say that I did not find my membership at the Wellness Center to be a particularly satisfying experience.

While the facilities are outstanding, the finest in the Tri-Cities, I did not find the atmosphere particularly welcoming. There is definitely a "cliquishness" among some of the members, along with an exaggerated sense of entitlement. More than once I witnessed one participant telling someone that the equipment next to him was in use just so they could save it for his buddy, altho his buddy had just arrived and hadn't even warmed up yet. Petty, but when you see it occur over and over again, it definitely creates an unwelcoming environment for the newcomers. It was definitely NOT for me.

Great facility and I especially love the outdoor pool they offer. However, the one-time $180 "startup fee" or whatever they call it.. in addition to the $50/month auto draft out of your checking or credit card seems a little steep. But $50 seems a fair rate for such a nice place. I was considering signing my mother up as well, but they offer NO senior discounts. Also a heads-up: while it is month-to-month membership, they do require a 30 day notice if you decide to cancel which automatically bumps you into an extra month. I'll be staying at Franklin Health & Fitness to get more "bang for my buck".

I loved the facility, but had to wait for equipment, especially the treadmills which always seemed in use.I ended my relationship with the wellness center both because of the treadmill wait time issue and I was not comfortable on the new machines and the extremely quick "training" on them was not sufficient. I think sometimes places get so big and busy they dont pay attention to the needs of their patrons.

The Johnson City Wellness center offers a variety of ways to get and stay in shape. From several aerobic classes to weights and machines, there's something for every fitness level. The personal trainers are always available to answer questions about the machines and how to use them. I highly recommend the Johnson City Wellness Center to individuals or families.
