Ratings_icons Our association with Fairport Animal Hospital

Norma H.

Pet Pride of New York is a non-profit organization and as such we rely on the generosity of local Veterinary Hospitals to keep our Spay/Neuter Program operating. Over the years the Fairport Animal Hospital has provided our clients with the highest standard of veterinary care. We have found them to be professional and caring at all staff levels. It is our pleasure to be associated with such a fine animal health care establishment. Norma Halbleib, Assistant Shelter Manager Pet Pride of New York

Ratings_icons In response to Heba

Brian H.

When Fairport Animal Hospital opened in 1980, one of core beliefs is to do our part in limiting the number of unwanted pets. We were also aware of the need to help some families who had limited incomes and needed help paying for spays or neuters. We arranged to work with some of the humane organizations in the Rochester area and provide a limited number of these procedures at no cost to the owner. Heba visited our hospital for this reason. Also treating the ears was above and beyond our agreement with this humane group and would have represented an additional charge to Heba.

It is our policy to do a physical exam before the surgery. Because of work schedules and other family commitments in the morning, it can be very difficult for families to bring a pet in the morning. We offer to admit patients the night before surgery at no additional cost to the family. Following spays or dog neuters we always keep patients until the day after the surgery. This is done to check for postoperative infections or other problems that might affect the recovery. Hebas cat stayed with us the night before and the night of the surgery. There was no extra hospital time.
On the day of a pets discharge we provide a free bath where ever possible. Hebas cat like a small number of our patients became very upset when away from home, with strangers working with them and doing medical procedures. This makes it unsafe for the pet to have a bath. Unfortunately, the person trying to answer Hebas concerns was unaware of this. She was trying to gather information to help her. We normally would have suggested to bring her back in to the hospital to bath her.

We pride ourselves with having a very courteous and helpful group of technicians, veterinary assistants and veterinarians. WE have many testimonials to this. There is no reason for Heba to fear visiting this hospital. Every encounter that I witnessed with her was friendly, courteous, and helpful. I believe that there was a miscommunication that could have been handled in a better way

Ratings_icons Saved both my kitties...

Ann S.

I have two cats one will be 6 in May and the other will be 6 in July. Both of them are adoption/rescue kitties and have serious, chronic medical conditions and most likely would have died without the great care they got. One of my cats had a problem that less than 5% of animals survive and she is still doing quite well for herself. I live out of state at the present time, but when we return to NY I will be returning to Fairport b/c of the great care my furkids have gotten here.

Ratings_icons Wouldn't go within 10 miles of this place ever again.

Heba M.

I took my very healthy cat (8 mo. old) here to be spayed. When I picked her up she was in her cat carrier and when I got home and opened up the carrier...I noticed she smelled really bad, her fur was all dishevelled and there were big matted, almost sticky parts on her tail. She also kept scratching her ears and could barely open her right eye. I called the Fairport Animal Hospital and the woman who answered the phone, Angela was not helpful at all and told me that all that was wrong with her must have happened when I got her home and that they give the cats bathes before they leave. WELL turns out my kitty got ear mites and has blood all over her tail which got covered in their cat litter. She was never bathed and have reason to believe didn't eat or drink (she was kept an extra day after the surgery). I was also told that they 'check her ears' before leaving. Hm. Then maybe they would have noticed the ear mites. She is my only pet and does not go anywhere near other animals. Maybe if they had taken some responsibility and treated my kitten better I wouldn't now be so terrified of vets!

Great staff and good vets. We have been taking our dog there for 6 years. The staff is very friendly and great with the animals. Vets are very good at explaining procedures/feeding/shots. We also took our rabbit there to have stitches removed.
