Stopped into the store to check out some fabrics I was considering to use for a friends wedding dress like 4 ply silks and tulle. I was having trouble finding the particular ones I had in mind anywhere else in the neighborhood and was relieved when I found them there. In the middle of looking I noticed an older man right next to me ( I assume was the owner) arranging their assortment of silk flowers for the window display. "How beautiful, may I ask how much these start at?" I said to him, thinking they might work as an additional piece on the dress. The man was silent for a moment and condescendingly responded "Now suppose I told you they started at at a dollar and ended at a million dollars, wouldn't it just be easier if you asked me how much a particular one costs?" I couldn't immediately wrap my brain around his sarcasm because I didn't think my question was out of the ordinary and wouldn't expect anything less than professionalism as this is a place of business. I stuttered and casually left without any of the materials I needed and walked to the train wanting to cry.
A few weeks went by and I wasn't able to find my fabrics anywhere else except online, but was uneasy with not being able to feel them and was pressed for time. I swallowed my pride and hoped for a better experience and returned to Sposabella. I asked for 2.25 yards of the silk tulle which is $110.00 a yard. The helpful sales girl unraveled the fabric and told me that it ended at 2 and 7/8ths and that I'd have to take it all because she "can't cut it and leave that small amount". I made no fuss and didn't even complain when she charged me for every bit of an inch. I purchased a comb along with the tulle and all together was charged $355. After about an hour I found a larger comb in another store that suited my needs better and also happened to be $6 less. Afraid, I returned to Sposabella and asked to return the comb. The sales girl refused and said "we don't do returns or exchanges of any sort." (it did not specify this on the reciept). I then asked "even after I just spent nearly $400 in here?" She still refused and had nothing more to say to me. I will never return to this store again. They are abusive and unfair and do not deserve my business.

Pros: carry some hard to find items in the area

Cons: Mean and grumpy owners, make no accomodations at all

I've been in this store many times for various items, over the years. I've even purchased bridal accessories from this store. Having been all over the garment district, I know Sposabella carries products unique to the area. Their knowledge and experience was beyond helpful.
I have to say, I've been in the store and have seen the Bridezillas who act like the world owes them and they're lunatics. It is brides like the one who wrote her review that the We Channel has made money on cause they nickel and dime small businesses, expect and demand 1000% attention, and then trash the place in question.
I have never had a problem with FRANK or any of his employees and honestly can say, it is worth the trip if you want the best and most unique qualities and fabrics.

Ordered a very simple veil from here - no trim, lace, beading, or anything complicated, and I paid in full when I ordered it. When i went to pick it up, "joseph" who had taken my order, said he had lost the order, so part of my veil was not completed (the blusher). He asked if i could come back to get it. I phoned in the following week, and it was ready-I asked if my fiance could come in to pick it up, to save me a third trip to the shop. The owner, Frank, SCREAMED over the phone to me "well, if you have any problems I don't want to hear about it". I tried explaning to him, that first, the reason i'm having to come in AGAIN, was because they had lost my order, and second, if I did have a problem, why couldn't I just come back (again, my veil was nothing intricate at all, very, very simple - they just lost the order, so didn't know to make the blusher part of it). He continued to scream and shout at me, and then HUNG UP THE PHONE! I called back and he continued his rant in a very rude and even threatening way. In my ENTIRE LIFE, I have NEVER been treated this way, EVER. What person, especially the OWNER of a business, hangs up the phone on a customer???? especially when 1. it was not my fault that i had to come back, and 2. over something as little as who is picking up the veil? As I had paid in full when i ordered the veil, I immediately called my credit card company to dispute the charge, and report this owners abusive behavior. "in business for 30 years"...well, you may be , but it's certainly not from doing business with repeat customers, because treating people this way, you would have been OUT of businsess "THIRTY YEARS AGO"!!!

I can not speak highly enough about Sposabella Lace. I have been searching for months for a fingertip length veil with alencon lace, but was disheartened by the $700 price tag at a local bridal shop. I walked into Sposabella, they knew exactly what I wanted and I had placed an order within 10 minutes at less than $200. Frank, the owner, is warm and welcoming, recommended the perfect lace for me. Susan, the seamstress, did a flawless job. The veil is perfectly trimmed around the lace (unlike the more expensive versions in many bridal shops), the stiching is invisible and the clip is high quality heavy weight. They even set up a fitting so that you can try on the veil mock-up before the stiching is completed. They quoted 2 week turn around for the mock-up, had it ready in 3 days. It is truly lovely and just exactly what I wanted!

I visited the store and spoke with the owner about a particular lace to purchase for my wedding dress I was having made. When I called him 2 days later, told him how many yards i needed, he said no problem come on down. when i got to the store, he didn't have the fabric in one piece, he could have told me this on the phone but i am sure he wanted me to come in so he could try to "sell" it me. i know the store has many "celebrity" clients as the website states but this is no way to do business. i don't care if britney spears wore your lace and i certainly never will.....

I ordered a bridal veil here thinking it would be nice to have one custom made. I was phoned and told to pick up the veil but when I got to the store they couldn't find it! They apologized and told me they would have it in a few days. I went back and this time they had the veil but did not offer to show it to me. After I insisted on inspecting the veil, I found they had made it incorrectly They admitted to the mistake and, again, told me to come back. This time the veil was finished but was still poorly made. Order from a bridal shop so you can see what you will be getting in advance.
