I would say zero stars but the fantastic marinara dipping sauce (served with wretched calamari) with fresh garlic was so fantastic, i'll give this place one star.

as a goodwill gesture to my fellow man, i beg everyone DO NOT GO HERE or else you're wasting your money! don't get the Prix Fixe for $25 because you will have to stop next door at Subway to actually eat something or else you'll walk in as hungry as you walked out! Calamari was horrible, total rubber, not fresh. The breading on calamari was great but the actual calamari inside was just awful. Not just bad, but awful! However, it got worse. The entree was the worst. I got the pesto gnocchi with potatoes which was ABSOLUTELY FLAVORLESS. i did not feel comfortable enough to complain because i was alone and in a rush trying to see a show in 45 minutes around the corner on Walker St but i was so mad at myself for dropping the $30 (incl tip) on such CRAPPY food that i wanted to cry. You could not pay me to eat here again. Lovely building, vibe, design and service but if you actually are HUNGRY, don't waste your money here. The 3rd part of my prix fixe 'trio' was the ricotta cheesecake. I'd gotten that to go because i was so angry at this point that i just decided to leave. it took FOREVER just to get a slice of cheesecake wrapped up for me to take with me. Ridiculous. i have never left a restaurant so angry. the only reason i gave this ANY stars was that the ricotta cheesecake was DELICIOUS. really stellar. sadly though, the restaurant managed to foul up again by giving me THE SADDEST, smallest slice of cheesecake EVER in this ridiculously GIGANTIC takeout container. so after carrying around this huge takeout container all night, i finally did get home and thought, ok, i hope this ricotta cheesecake is worth the overpriced $30 dinner....it was like 2 bites....RIDICULOUS.

i gave this place a fair chance. i wanted to like it. i just wish i hadn't ordered the prix fixe. the other option i considered was ordering just one entree, maybe the lasagna, i thought. but i love calamari and i THOUGHT this place could do it right. but NO. so please people, do NOT WASTE your money. i am still so angry about getting screwed over and knowing i'll never get my $30 back....and ironically, i'm still starving.

wanna be still hungry when you leave? wanna walk out feeling like someone f-ed you without lube? wanna leave utterly unsatisfied? THEN EAT AT BREAD TRIBECA!

Best Chicken Salad in town. Delicious skirt stake salad. Should you be in the mood for seafood, their octopus meal is memorable, you will go back for it again. They also have a great bottle of Rioja, if you care. Best way to spend a long lunch in a trendy Tribeca spot, close to everything. Not to destroy their coffee sales, but get the coffee after your meal next door at La Colomba, the uncontested best coffee in NYC. Sit by the bar, and get taken care of attentive staff. Very highly recommend it.

Pros: Great Food, Great Atmosphere

Cons: Portions could be slightly bigger

We have eaten there several times and also have had delivery - food very average - nothing inspiring, but it is comfort food. Loved the white beans.

It used to be a good neighborhood restaurant, but it has now priced itself out of the market - $20 for an average plate of pasta is just too much! The decor is fine, but the seasoning on the entrees is not great, and the service is just OK - at this price-point, I expect better.

I did not like Bread Tribecca. I dined there last night for the first time. The room was nice, the lighting was pleasant and the location convenient, and the company lovely, however, that is where this positive review ends. The food was too rich, too greasy, and just not lovingly prepared by a knowledgeable chef. The service was average. The wine was average. The atmosphere was average. In a city like New York a diner with standards can do much better than this. Do not waste your time.

Me and my husband, my best friends and my neighbous go to Bread Trbeca all the time. It is a very busy and very popular place, so sometimes, even us being regulars, we have to wait for a table for 30 minutes, because that;s what happens with great places that serve great food! And trust me: it's well worth the wait! I have been coming there with my husband for 4 years now and sometimes the place is completely overflown by people and sometimes we had to wate but everybody there has been more than nice and polite to us and the food was well worth the wait! We live around the corner and Bread Tribeca is our favorite place in the whole neighborhood. As far as I am concerned: I worked in restaurants in NYC through out college and I know that sometimes things can go bad but - I love Bread Tribeca and everybody in the neighbourhood loves it too. Amazing food and great customer care a far as I am concerned.

The staff at this place are bigots. We were there as a group of 6 last weekend. The waiter, a dark-haired Italian looking guy in his 40's, did not even bring over water for 10 minutes after we were seated. Another waitress dropped a glass that shattered on the floor, spraying water and shards of broken glass on my wife and I. No apology was made. When the waiter finally did bring the water, one of the glasses were knocked over. He did not return with any paper towels to dry our table. The famous bread and oil arrived at our table at the same time as our sandwiches. Overall the experience was horrible and when we left only 12% tip, the waiter in a very loud voice, meant to be heard by all of us, stated "these cheap fuc*ing Indians always leave bad tips". We asked for the manager to discuss our experience but were told by the girl who seated us that he was not available. We will never go to this restaurant again and recommend all to stay away.

Tribeca in the past couple of years has seen somewhat of an explosion of new restaurants popping up here and there, but one eatery still holds my heart and that is Bread Tribeca. From the casual non pretentious waitstaff to the ambience giving off just enough hipness without being too overbearing to the delicious menu and impressive drinks, My husband and I had a wonderful experience. It had been awhile (more than a year) since I last gave this downhome place a try. My last experience was uneventful, however this time more then made up for it. We had one of the new additions to the menu,. the swordfish. We had intended on sharing this dish but I found it impossible to do so, my husband ended up having the chefs special pasta dish; bucatini with pork sausage. Can I say OH MY GOD! It was just divine. We ended the night with two glasses of Brachetto and fritelle. We will definately be back

Bread is a great place to relax and enjoy the food and the conversation with a friend. It's best for brunch especially if you are looking to geat away from the Soho shoppers and get some peace. They have the best dink menu to go with the season. All of the cocktails are made with fresh fruit puree and the food menu can satisfy every stomach. Very friendly service.

I have been going to Bread in Soho since it opened and finally got around to trying Bread in tribeca last weekend. Unbelievably (given how superb the Soho restaurant is) I had literally, no exaggeration, the worst service I have ever encountered New York.

The hostess who seated us could not have been more friendly, and the bus boy quickly brought bread and olive oil (just as in the Soho restaurant). I asked him for salt. Shortly after, the waitress came by and took our order. So far so good.

For the next half hour I could literally not get a single person's attention. Our coffee never arrived, no salt and when we tried to flag a waitress or busboy they were all chatting in a group near the kitchen (it was late afternoon on a Sunday). The food came and I asked again for coffee and salt and waited. The coffee finally arrived and not only was it actually room temperature (it wasn't merely "cold" coffee it clearly had been turned off for at least a half hour). Not only that, no kidding, the filter must have busted when they brewed it because it was full of coffee grinds.

I couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for hot coffee for another ten minutes and still no salt. Finally, i got up, walked through the group of chatting waiters, and asked for salt. Instead of apologizing the waitress (I am not making this up) just motioned toward three salt shakers sitting on the counter. I also told her about the coffee and she simply said they would replace it, as if they were doing me a great favor.

While we were waiting for our check, the coffee finally arrived.

I'll never go back there again and since I have gotten to know the managers of Bread Soho over the years I plan to talk to them about it.

I had a party here a couple weeks ago and we absolutely loved Bread Tribeca. The staff were friendly and the service great, and the restaurant has beautiful decor (I heard that MoMA designed a lot of the restaurant).
I've been to both this location and the smaller one in Soho, and this one is by far the better location. It has a full bar too and excellent special drinks so I would recomment hitting up the Tribeca Bread.
During the day I go for the panini or the pizzas (they have an open brick oven) and at night I love the saffron pasta and the rib eye.
The decor, crowd, and staff alone are great eye candy, and with the great food I would recommend Bread to anyone looking for a hot place to eat/drink downtown.

I went with my friends for dinner last week and had a great time. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. I loved the passion fruit martini I had while waiting at the bar. My SeaBass was perfect. My friend got the Linguine with Clams and said it was as good as his mother's ...and he's italian! Definately going back for my next party.

This used to be a good standby for delivery but has gotten much worse in the last 6 months or so. Fried calamari and marinara sauce is way too salty, the whole roasted chicken now only comes in half portion for i think the same price, grilled shrimp is mealy, the green beans (side dish) drown in oil, and their online menu doesn't match what they currently offer. perhaps there's a new chef or management?

I went with 10 colleagues to celebrate on Friday night and we got CR4P FOOD & WORSE service. If you were lucky enough to actually get your order it was cold, tiny, bland and/or undercooked. Most of us had to ask for our orders several times and often did not even get the right item. There is no effort at decor beyond the bead curtain on the way to the restrooms. I will never ever ever recommend this place or go there again.

Probably the worst service i've ever had, I don't think the waiter could have messed up our order any more. We ordered a red wine, they brought out white. we asked for a recomendation of a pasta that doesn't have tomato sauce, they bring out something that ends up being basically penne w/ manarana. And I gotta say, even after they 'comped' us the chucky-cheese style spaggetti w/ olive oil replacement dish, the bill still seemed a little over priced. There are better restarants out there, enjoy them instead.

I went with a couple of colleagues from work for lunch. Immediately and without provocation, the waitress develops an attitude. As we looked through our menus after only a minute or so at a time when the restaurant was not particularly crowded, the princess waitress says with a sarcastic tone "So, are you just going to have water?" We were shocked. Since this seemed to come out of nowhere, it is clear she is unhappy with her job and has other things on her mind. Other things were said, but I will not list them here. So, if Bread wants to hire staff with that type of attitude, I will spend my money elsewhere. Good luck, Bread.

Recently my girlfriend and I (regrettably) decided to grab a bite and a drink at this supposedly hip place. In plain and simple English: the service at Bread Tribeca is disgraceful/miserable/pitiable, the food is just average. Ex.: after ordering a bottle of wine (which was originally, inexplicably mistaken for 2 glasses of it), the (2) waitresses "in charge" of the outdoor space claimed that the bottle was "right there in the only cooler used to service about 10 tables"...we were just wondering...what if 6 out of 10 tables are going to order a bottle?...our glasses had been empty for a long while yet nobody was coming over to refill them (let's not even mention the never-refilled glasses of water). The place was empty. When politely questioning the "service", both of the "waitresses" showed the savoir faire and attitude proper of an irate truck driver (no offense to them, please). Sad.

this place is very cool, very hip, quite a good bar w/ a great bartender and it's pretty hard to beat the setting when they have all the doors open to the street.....the only place in my view that they came up short was with the food, as it was just average. Now I'm only speaking of the pasta, people in my group had the pork chops and quite liked it, but the pasta was just bland food, nothing interesting or creative or different just sadly regular. It was disappointing given all the other elements of this restaurant that I like. Oh & the brushetta (sp?) was BIZARRE (all pesto & one cherry tomato???)!

My wife she is Italian wanted to try the restaurant for hearing about the pesto that had a write up in the times a year ago. What the times said about the pesto was right on the money. I had the calimari and the ribeye which was told by the most helpful attentive waiter a tall african american gentlemen that he was right, this is excellent. My wife had the trofie with pesto that reminded her of the pesto her grandmother had made. The drinks, were very good so good that I tried at least five of them extremely to my liking. And the desserts, I highly recommend the banana tart which came with the best vanilla gelato that I have ever tasted. I left with a smile on my face for the very good dining experience that I have had in awhile. Bread tribeca it is so choice.

I think the pasta dishes are a little overpriced. The food is decent. Restaurant is chic. The music a little too loud for a regular restaurant. All in all, it would be more attractive if it doesn't charge $18 for a pasta dish with no worthy ingredients.

I like this place and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was great, the drinks were delish, and the food was hearty and very yummy. The only downside was our waitress -- she forgot to order one of our side dishes, was not attentive, and then gave us our check before we finished our bottle of wine. This might have turned me off, but without us saying anything, the maitre'd (who was this AWESOME amazing person) gave us complimentary desserts...I think becuase he saw the mishap. Anyway, because of the great atmosphere and the maitre'd's more than generous and accomodating personality/service, I will come here again and again. It rocks!

The drinks were good if you like them fruity and the bread basket was very good w/ a nice selection. Our main dishes were horrible. My friends had to send the ribs back three times b/c it was too raw, blood raw. The waitress insisted it was well/medium. Why a waitress would agrue is beyond me especially when there's blood all over the plate. The pasta was boring. I was very unhappy w/ my experience at Bread. I might go back, but only for drinks at the bar.

The space is very average not so sexy not so trendy just inbetween. Onto the food.. I was with 11 other people and I tried most of the dishes, everything was either average or below average. The rib-eye was an exception and the ONLY dish that was satisfactory. The pasta was dissappointing!there was even one pasta dish that was like ramen noodles with green and red peppers! So my advice is.. PASSY PASS spend your $ elsewhere.

I live in the neighborhood and should have heeded the advice of several of my friends and not gone to this restaurant. The service was poor, the food marginal, and the ambiance so-so. There are so many better places than here, save your money for some place better.

Pros: , Near better places

We were expecting greater things from this very cool looking restaurant. (It has cool lighting & interior design inside). The service was impeccable, though cool. When we shared our thoughts with the maître d' about our main entrees (and it wasn't a positive review), he merely shrugged and walked away. So much for their interest in our thoughts. The food was VERY bland and boring. Definitely not worth the price they ask. There are MUCH better Italian entrees out there in the world of food! QUITE a disappointment. On the up side, dessert was beautifully presented. So - see this as a place for a drink & dessert to soak in the atmosphere, but DEFINITELY not for dinner!

Lots of places in New York can deliver great food, but the staff at this place is exceptional for a restaurant in this price range. They were very attentive to presentation and the needs of our table, especially the guy in the long-sleeve black shirt (who was a hottie to boot). Will come again.

I work around the corner from this place. Very nicely designed, good atmosphere, good waitstaff, not expensive, delicious food! Need I say more?! Well, I do think that one of their waiters should change their hairdo, it looks like some cow licked his hair..... :-o

What a great place! I would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu, but I can comfortably say their mixed veggie panini was yummy, the pansotti (ravioli-esque pasta in some sort of cream-walnut sauce) even better, and their lychee basil twist cocktail--amazing. It sounds weird, but trust me, this drink should be served in bars all over the country. The vibe was cool--comfy but still chic, laid-back, minimalist; I'm sure it would be just as great for an easy dinner with girlfriends as for an intimate date. One thing: I DO wish they had a few more options as far as the dinner paninis go. I mean, the original Bread was/is known for these great sandwiches. It seems to make sense to have more of them available at this bigger outpost.

I have to say that the food at Bread TriBeCa was a major letdown. Its sibling in NoLita has good food at a reasonable price. The food at Bread TriBeCa was bland...lacking. The pesto dollop ontop of my penne with red sauce was bad as it was uninviting. The calamari was bland and rubbery. The menu seems muddled...wants to be a TriBeCa restaurant, but can't shake its humble, simple roots.

What a great new place! Loved it! The food was really good... I had the grilled shrimp served on a huge cutting board. The atmosphere was trendy yet not with the rude door attendants or velvet rope attitude. The staff was attentive and always noticed when we needed or wanted something. Price for 2 was $66 with an appetizer, (2) glasses of wine and (2) entrees..... not bad for NY.

tribeca bread is quickly becoming one of my favorites...the ambiance is just fantastic with the open but intimate set-up...and the food is exquisite - from the pasta to the highly recommended grilled squid...one should go before it gets too crowded...
