This place was a nice setting, the waiters were so nice and efficient. The setting was a bit dim where flash lights were needed. But other then that we enjoyed ourselves. The food was very good, not like abuelas, but definitely good..

The vibe is very welcoming with its beautiful interior decorations and an open kitchen. The entire staff was extraordinarily professional. All were friendly and alluring. Our server was knowledgeable, articulate and enthusiastic. All eight of us had the ?Pre fixed? menu, it?s a four course meal where I can say was its money?s worth -- every course was superb. Even the birthday song was different & great. I can't wait to get back and do it all over again!!!

They also have a lounge where we proceeded afterwards to relax, listened to music and enjoy the ambiance. I recommend SAZON to everyone, especially if you are in the tribeca area!!!

Pros: FOOD, DRINKS, MUSIC, BIRTHDAY SONG

Had dinner with my gf here recently and we were analyzing Sazon's prospects. Here's where we came out (although I have to confess I like this place and hope it does well):

Pros:
- Very good, genuinely warm service. Like you'd expect in the Latin Caribbean.
- Tasty food and extensive menu (more on this later).
- Funky decor stands out in a good way in Tribeca.

Cons:
- Undisciplined portion control. We were served mountains of food-- good value you say? yes, but feels like IHOP-- not what you want in an upscale Tribeca eatery.
-- Uneven food quality. My fish was frozen and thawed and I could tell. Issue isn't that it was thawed, but that someone seemed to think that was not an issue.
-- Still needs an anchor. Sure, they'll attract a loyal boricua fan base at least initially but lower Tribeca isn't about to become a salsa destination anytime soon.

My odds are 9 - 12 months max for this place, unless:

- They nail food quality down. Portion control, fresh ingredients, etc. -- ATTENTION TO DETAIL

- Space out the tables some more. Agree with a previous reviewer that you sit on top of each other here.

- Ask themselves what it will take to make diners leave with a special memory. Flor de Sol, the tapas place up Greenwich is one of our favorites not because of the average, overpriced tapas but because the ambiance is terrific, lighting works and the live bands keep bringing people back.

- Sazon needs to figure out its niche, otherwise before a year passes we'll it will run out of steam

Went for dinner with a good friend at around 5:30 p.m. We were able to enjoy a drink and an appetizer before the music started which was loud. We shared the paella that was great. And for once the rice was not over/under cooked, and all the fish was prepared perfectly! My tongue was delighted! Loved my Sangria - the sour apples exploded in my mouth as I bit into them - drool! The desserts were to die for - we had a chocolate bread pudding that made my toes curl and another concoction that had a raspberry topping which reminded me of flan. The Chef said they were new to the menu. It was such a really nice experience all around because "everyone" on staff was very attentive and fun! I felt like I stepped back in time when I went to the lady's restroom. There was a real person there who was very pleasant and gave you paper towels after you washed your hands! The last time I had that experience was back in the 70's! The restaurant even had a really cool bar downstairs with a dance floor. After a couple of drinks, good food and being spoiled by the staff, I was sorely tempted to show folks what a dance floor is really for, especially with the great music selection. Yes, I would definitely recommend the place to my friends. I will return just so the staff can spoil me again and I can try out their dance floor! Kudos to you all and thank you for the lovely experience!

Well, i was thinking of a place i could take my girlfriend for a special dinner on our Anniversary. We usually go to japanese restaurants since she is from japan, and i personally love japanese food. Although this time we decided to go to a nice Spanish place. long story short, i chose Sazon. The Decor looked pleasant and their menu seemed nice.

So the day comes we get dressed up and go to "Sazon"...

Issues started as soon as we walked in.

so we walk up to the receptionist and i state that i have a reservation. She looks at me and my guest like if we are aliens from space, and smirks at me. and says "well, follow me then". quite snappy.

First thing i noticed is the seating arrangements that they have here. It is so cluttered, you literaly feel like you eating right next to the stranger beside you. The waiters bump into tables and chairs trying to get your food to you, i honestly do not know how they keep their balance.

THE MUSIC: OMG! now i know this is a latin restaurant and like most latin restaurants it need some spice, SAZON needs to keep the spice on their food and not with music. I literally had to scream at my guest when she was sitting right across from me in order to have a conversation.

i wish the loud music was the only case, but on top of that. it must have been everyones birthday that night! how do i know? well at SAZON they apperantly make your birthday night go even better by playing a happy birthday song on the speakers while all of the waiters come and sing happy birthday to you. Now on this specific night my partner and i must have heard the birthday song about 20 times. This is not an exaggeration. Not only is it annoying when you are trying to eat, but all the waiters gather up everytime and sing to the b-day person leaving you waiting for them to finish their birthday performance if you need anything from your server. wich happend to me litterally everytime i required my servers assistance.
"My steak has arrived!, oh but i need steak sauce, WAITER!, oh! he's singing Happy Birthday....Again!"
now i know this is not the waiters fault but how can management not see that this can not be good for bussiness?

The Crowd: Loud, like you would not even imagine. and this is mostly because of the music. Although i did have the pleasure of sitting next to a woman who was arguing with her fellow lady friends pretty loudly. Not one person from management stopped her although they noticed she was being disruptive to other guests in the establishment. On one instance she slammed her fists on the table and her steak knife flew towards me and struck me on the shoulder preety hard. I then picked up her knife from the floor like a gentleman, handed it to her and said "might want to be carefull with that" and smiled. Then asked my guest if she would like to move tables, as to not get in the way of this crazy lady. we moved everything ourselves since our waiter was singing Happy Birthday again!.

once we moved we had the knife lady staring us down the whole time we were eating. Now i know its not the establishments fault that she was being disruptive, but if they notice someones behavior is not up to par with restaurant standards they should try and treat the situation before it gets out of hand and causes an embarressment to the restaurant and its patrons.

I can go on writing for another 20min about this place. I just wish they could get it together. This place has alot of potential. The food is amazing. They just need to stear clear of the idea that all spanish restaurants need to be loud.

I really love that this place has really focused on authentic Spanish cuisine. I'm going back for dinner this sat.

I went to Sazon last Saturday with my family and we absolutely loved it! We had the Shrimp Tostones, Fried Calamari and a couple of Mixed Empanadas as appetizers and I had the Sazon Paella, which I Highly Recommend.

The Entertainment was great and our server was extremely generous and helpful! There was a live salsa band in there lounge where we proceeded to afterwards. The crowd was filled with beautiful people. Everyone including the staff appeared to enjoy being there, which furnished us with positive energy. I very much suggest this Restaurant to anyone, I promise you will have a great time!

I've been to Sazon four times, its not bad and not great. I recommend going for lunch as opposed to dinner. It can be a scene at night and service gets worse as the night progresses.

The food is ok, but not amazing. Although it seems most of the apps are prepared ahaed of time and then reheated.

Finally, my waiter, that gem of a guy! I've had him twice and each time his demeanor was as if I was taking up his precious time.... a great quality in a waiter.

With a few minor adjustments thsi palce could be great. Otherwise if you just want hang, talk loudly, and look at girls. This place is perfect.

I went to Sazon on a Friday, I had a party of five and we arrived around 4:30 p.m., so it wasn't very crowded. Service was not great - we waited 40 minutes for someone to even come to us and offer a table, and then we finally had to walk over to the bartender to ask where the hostess or waiter were. After that, it got worst. After spending over $350 for diner, we went down stairs to the lounge and after ordering drinks and sitting for about an hour we were asked to get up from our seats because apparently someone more important came in. I WILL NOT VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN NOR WILL I RECOMMEND IT. The food is better as Sofritos.

I wasn't sure if I was entering a club or a reasturant. Two different types of music blared through the entire space. I think McDonalds has better seating then this place. People constantly had to get up and move to let other people leave their tables. It's very cramped, I could have taken food off the peoples plate next to me. The food and Mojiot's were delish. I couldn't hear myself think let alone hold a conversation with my friend. So if its a club your looking for, go. If you want a nice dinner to enjoy your company, pass.
