Completely agree with the previous review. I'm a former student and after having spent over $6000 they were not interested or helpful in helping me find a job; not that it's their job, but understand that if you are a new esthetician just starting out it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get hired as a type 7. You can only get your type 6 license(which means you can work independently) after 2 years of working under someone else. For 600 hours we had minimal training with wax, and what was taught in 600 defintiely could have been taught in 300. Think twice about esthetics school and if you are looking to start your own business right away. The school is also in need of some major reconstruction. A suggestion to the school would also have a job fair or two for your students who are paying big bucks to attend your school. Prepare them better for the field.

I recently completed the 600 esthetic program at catherine hinds. Some of the instructors there are wonderful. I would definitely recommend completing 600 hours IF YOU CAN GO FULL TIME. If you go part time, it takes one year which is too long. If you don't have the luxury of going full time, I would strongly suggest only completing the 300 hour course. It's really all you need to get started and get your license. You can always take a class somewhere else (for a LOT cheaper) to learn more skills. They are definitely in the business of trying to get you to complete the entire course. The 1200 hour program(which is about $15,000) teaches very little laser. If laser is what you're into, you can take a course somewhere else. In 300 hours, we had about 5 different instructors which was obnoxious. There was a lot of staff turnover. In the student clinic we got a lot of experience. However, the clinic WAS NOT BUSY ENOUGH to accomodate the amount of students. When there were no clients, we would have to sit in a flourescent lit classroom with nothing to do. There was nothing for us as students to work on, learn, or practice. That was the biggest problem I had with this school. Towards the end of my time there, the cleaning/laundry lady(and there's a LOT of laundry to be done) was no longer there at night, so we were frequently asked to do laundry. I don't mind doing chores, as we all did our part cleaning up after ourselves, but I did not pay THOUSANDS of dollars to do LAUNDRY half the night. I thought people should know these things. I wish I had. Definitely good instructors and hands on practice. But TOO MUCH DOWN TIME. The school could definitely use a facelift. The lighitng in all of the classrooms is terribly bright and not pleasant to be under for 4 hours at a time.

Just had my first visit at Catherine Hines. It was amazing! I'm 44 and starting to see some uneven spots, fine wrinkles and sagging neck skin (ugh- the ever dreaded waddle). I didn't expect much but was shocked to see and feel such a huge difference an hour later. I really liked the experience, very professional staff and enjoyable service. (It was not painful, actually quite relaxing). Others have complained about the noise - I thought everyone worked very hard to speak in a very soft voice and preserve the clients privacy. Loved the experience andwill definitely be back again! The cost is easily within reach of the average working person that wants to take good care of their skin. THANKS!

I got a back facial here once for $21 , a great deal. You could tell the girl really tried. The atmosphere is not private as it is a school but you barely notice.

Bearing in mind that when you book your appointment, it's with the student clinic. So, you're not going to find the atmoshere you would at a spa. But the treatments are great. I got a fantastic facial with a couple of add-ons, including face, neck and shoulder massage for $44!! I would have paid close to $200 for this same service at a "real" spa. The students are great, they really take their time with you and the instructors are nearby ready to answer any questions.

I left this school with a smile because people were real and down to earth. I also get my phone calls returned promptly along with emails with more info. Anyways, I made my decision on which school I'm going to attend and its Catherine Hinds School of Esthetics in Woburn Mass. It has 20,000 square feet and 300,600,900 and 1200 hours programs. Im interested in 1200 hours at 15,000 which ill be certified as a Master Esthetician in spa and medical esthetics. The financial aid office was great. The women there gave me every piece of info I was looking for and I can get 2 stafford loans for around 11,000. She also is going to try harder to get me a federal pell grant because I just got laid-off from my job. So that leaves me with around 5,000 I have to get. I have 2 options, which is pay directly to the school for 10 months in payments monthly of $500 or try to get a loan for that amount (which I would need a co-signer for) but I did find out that if I get a co-signer after 2 years of paying the loan off I can take the co-sign off. Which is a great option!

So anyone looking to go to Esthetics school in Mass go to Catherine Hinds its the best and in NH The Institute of Esthetics in Concord NH. (ive been to just about every school in NH and MA after visiting the worst school Michaels School of Hair Design and Esthetics in Bedford NH)

Pros: they have 300,600,900 and 1200 hr options unlike any other school in the area

Cons: the clinical area needs to be more private for each bed, and soothing music with no vocals

This place is pretty good. You can get a nice facial for under $25. However, be aware that it is not at all "private" and some times the students talk to each other just a bit too much! Also, when you get a massage it is not private (unless they have changed)

I received a gift certificate to this place as a gift and because it was a school, I was a little leary of using it, but I was quickly proven wrong!

For approximately $100 dollars, I received a full body massage, a full facial and eyebrow wax, a make up consultation, and a foot treatment!

Because they are students, they really worked hard do their very best, and I can honestly say I was impressed!

The only down fall to this was that your treatments are done in large rooms where other people are receiving their treatments. However, the rooms are very dim and the students take great pains in keeping the noise very, very low and, more importantly, keeping everything very private. I honestly did not even notice I was in a room with other people!

I hightly recommend this option to people who would love to get a spa treatment but who can't afford the option of a full service spa!

PROS: Very affordable and professional
CONS: Less private

There is no place else that you can go to and get a facial for so little cost. The students are great. A very busy place, but they have night appointments. You can go with the basic or add more treaments. I purchased the facial series and it was worth it.

PROS: Time slot available and the price
CONS:

Teachers were excellent and very knowledgeable in the skin care industry. Tons of hands on practice. Very focused programs with loads of support from the instructors. I would highly recommend this school to anyone in receiving the best possible education in the field of esthetics.
