5 Stars: Taboon is a west side must ! (by april c.)

I love all middle eastern food, but I have never had the pleasure of eating the flavors featured at Taboon. I would suggest reservations, as it almost always has a long wait. I would also suggest talking to the bartender and requesting a seat at the bar for dinner - it's quite lively. The wines are almost all great but cocktails are a bit strange (licorice martini ?) . The stuffed flat bread with cheese and peppers is irresistible. I like to get a few appetizers, both meat and veggie, to nibble on while I drink some wine. Entrees I've had have all been delicious , but somewhat pricey. This is an impressive place for both an imtimate date or catching up with a close friend. It's not cheap, but worth every penny.

4 Stars: Great nouveau middle-eastern in the 50s (by Andrew S.)

If you're looking for an interesting place to meet someone afterwork near midtown but not in midtown I recommend Taboon. I recently dined here and found the food pretty delicious. The bread they serve you to start is worth the price of admission alone - it was some kind of warm flatbread with a ricotta-type cheese filling that was both light and rich at the same time - the spicy halibut is the dish to go with for an entree and the chocolate lava is a great dessert. The ambience is subdued - you may not even notice the place from the outside it's so subtle. But once inside everything is very warm and friendly.

PROS: Great bread
CONS:
