I like this store but I don't understand why they don't carry Goya refried beans. They carry Goya products. And they carry American-made refried beans, but why not carry the best? This store is great other than that, though

Market Basket on Lowell Ave, off River St, is like the neighborhood grocery store of my younger days. It is quick and easy to run in and get a few items or get a week's worth of groceries without taking too long to get in and out.
I prefer to shop where there is a bakery and this Market Basket has a nice one. If you can't find what you are looking for in their display tables ask one of the friendly bakery employees. They have even gone into the back room and brought out a loaf of bread from the freezer for me. It thaws quickly at home and you don't need to put it in the oven.
My only drawback is that they change or replace many items. When I asked a clerk about an item I was told it was a seasonal change. I think vegetables are seasonal but certain kinds of pasta or support items aren't really seasonable. My wife and I always joke that if we like a certain item a lot the store finds out and stops selling it. It can be disappointing at times when you come in to shop.
I would recommend the Market Basket on Lowell Ave to any busy person who likes lower prices and and a well organized store. Just don't get too attached to "seasonal" items.

Pro: Market Basket has the best non-sale prices compared to Shaws and Stop & Shop - no key chain card required.
Con: Store displays emphasize bargains not attractiveness. Selection missing (Barilla mushroom pasta sauce sold but not Putanesca). Coupons not doubled.
Good prices on Lindt bars and Haagen Daz. Balance bars go on sale for .67. Good prices on prepaid phone cards (example 2000 minutes for $20 - that's 1cent/minute). Around holidays, these prepaid phone cards are on sale for less than face value (a $10 phone card for $7.50).
Unlike the Central Plaza, Haverhill location, this store has an in-store bakery. They have the best pumpkin pie and garlic ciabatta bread.
Another favorite item found on display tables near registers or bakery: dark chocolate and pistachio covered toffee.
I was pleased to find several brands of Tzajiki (cucumber dip), not found at other locations.
This store is located in the Westgate plaza. Other tenants are a Marshalls, Payless Shoes and Sherwin Williams. Across the road are a 24hr CVS and a Walgreens.
The chain does not have a website - so you can't find their flyer online.
