Beware of your investment. They are no longer Toothsavers they call themselves Universal Dental. I went to them Oct 2011. Paid them in full on my first visit. 18 months later I'm still waiting for my porcelain final product. They gave me a set of upper porcelain crowns to try on anbd see how I feel with them. The bite was completely off. Within 2 weeks The porcelain cracked and chipped on four of the teeth exposing the cheap metal they call "precious". Whatever you do; make sure you get anything they promise you in writing. Trying to get anything in writing from them after they have your money is like Pulling Teeth. The place is very unsanitary. The professionalism there; there isn't any! The worst investment I've ever made was with Toothsavers/Universal Dental. Look them up on NYS Education Department to confirm the doctors. You'll see what I'm talking about. I encourage them to challenge this review and prove me wrong. Also; Don't be surprised they asked people they know to write great reviews on their behalf. They have 53 Supreme court cases against them.

After an initial FREE consultation, I received an estimate for extensive implant surgery (not covered by Insurance). The price was more than I could afford. When I asked for a discount, much to my amazement, Toothsavers substantially reduced their fee. I immediately scheduled an appt and started surgery that week. The dental assistants, administrative staff and doctors are patient, nurturing and approachable. Their waiting room is usually packed with a diverse group of interesting people. Waiting time is occasionally delayed because everyone is treated with equal care, and prudence. The office staff function like a hard working family, accommodating their patients with the utmost regard. The owner, Mitchell, is a friendly and constant presence, often checking in on patients to inquire about their comfort and health. I began treatment six months ago, with at least a year of dental work ahead of me. I am absolutely confident that I will walk away from Toothsavers with a perfect set of implants and a bright new smile!

It was a wonderful day! With newly minted driver??s license in hand, and little red, shinny car ready to go, everything seemed fine. The driver was experienced enough to do the defensive driving necessary to get out of the way of a head on with the delivery van, but not able to avoid the parked cars along the side of the street. In a fraction of a moment, I crashed, hit the gear shift, and found myself spitting out pieces of my front teeth. My braces hadn??t been off even a year ?? now my perfect teeth were in bloody bits in my hand.
The first bridge included three teeth. A decade, five teeth were involved. By the time I was in my fifties, that initial injury resulted in very limited options: a full bridge built on implants or dentures.
Dentures were out of the question. I??m single, and for so many reasons, was not willing relay on removable, awful dentures. Visions of her teeth in a glass on my grandmother??s bedside table were a nightmare.
What were the alternatives. One dentist after another - even the one who had made my seven tooth bridge less than three years earlier - estimated costs for implants and needed bone grafts at almost forty thousand dollars. My situation was impossible.
A friend suggested that I ??just get an estimate? at ToothSavers, a large multi dentist practice in midtown Manhattan. Well, it is conveniently located and I had seen their advertisements. After the frightening estimates other dentists had offered, what did I have to lose?
What I found out was that I had much to gain!
After an exam including a panogram x-ray, and far more thorough exam than previous dentists had conducted, a treatment plan was suggested - one more complete than the others offered. Implants would be done, and to assure the best chance for success, bone grafts on both left and right sides would be completed, plus several missing bottom teeth would complete the work.
The cost - more than 50% LESS than anywhere else! The level of understanding of my very limited finances is amazing. Payments were arranged that are making the work possible.
I??m almost there ?? healing and implants do take time. Even the temporary bridges are cosmetically pleasant. And, yes, sometimes I??ve had to wait ?? that happens in any medical or dental practice. What is important is that the work being done by ToothSavers should keep me smiling for many decades. I??m one who has more experience with dentists than most and can absolutely say that the work done for me has been competent, professional and reliable. Having the full resources of a large group of dentists has saved me much travel and waiting time.
Thank you. And, I am smiling!

BE WARNED!!! SCAM ARTISTS! The other reviews here are fake. Just check out Yelp for the real deal.

Besides all the bad reviews, read these:

I also wish there were no stars allowed here. My mother has been ripped off by these guys in the hopes that she could find an affordable dentist. The work was horrible, she has been in pain. She's going to be suing Tooth Savers and the dentist. Apparently they are the most sued dentist in NYC. I only wish my mom did her homework before choosing such a horrible dentist!

They are rude and unprofessional. Tooth Savers does not keep adequate or accurate patient records. Tooth Savers is committing fraud. They must be breaking several regulations and laws. The previous owner (the father of the current owner) had his license permanently revoked. They lie that he is not still working there. He was there yesterday and stated that he has an office there!

How are these people still in business???

SHAME ON NYC FOR ALLOWING TOOTH SAVERS TO STAY IN BUSINESS AFTER ALL THE PAIN THEY HAVE CAUSED TO SO MANY PEOPLE!

I was in need of an emergency extraction and Toothsavers came to the rescue. After searching for a dentist to relieve my pain, the only one available was Toothsavers. They were kind and gentle and immediately made an appointment for the same day, just hours after I called. They are great.

My son has always had a fear of going to the dentist. After paying a visit to Toothsavers for a routine cleaning, my son was much more relaxed. The staff is great with kids and the dentist had a sense of humor, making my son much more at ease. I highly recommend Toothsavers as the place to take your child.

It's hard to be able to afford to go to the dentist, but toothsavers made me see how important it is and how there are dentists out there that do charge reasonable prices and work with their patients to get them the care they need.

I've been to some dentists that really don't seem to care about their patients. I've been uncomfortable at the dentist, and like to know what's happening before it's done. Some dentists don't bother talking to me through it to make sure I'm comfortable even after I've asked them to. When I went to ToothSavers I found that everyone I dealt with game me thorough explanations and the dentist was great!

I'm sure like many people I've avoided to go to the dentist because of the cost. I don't have insurance that covers dental care, and I make a pretty average salary. I had heard of ToothSavers but never thought I could afford to go since they are known for dealing with celebrities. A friend told me I was wrong, and it's true, they were willing to work with me to make sure I could afford to pay and already their costs were cheaper than the dentist I went to before

Prior to being a Toothsavers patient, I had an incredible fear of all dentists. I believe this is pretty common, so that is why I want to share my experience. The dentists at Toothsavers are great. They are gentle, caring and explain everything before they do it. I no longer have that fear and my teeth feel better than ever.

Like a lot of young kids, but child has been afraid of the dentist. We do not have insurance, and we are only able to bring our children once in a while, so often by the time we go they require treatment for cavities. They dread this, obviously. I also wish we could take them more often and focus on prevention. We eventually heard about ToothSavers from a family member and decided to start going. They??ve worked with us financially so our kids get to the dentist more often, which, with fewer issues has made the kids like visiting better. They??re also great at putting us all at ease during what can be a traumatic experience.

Last July 4th I had a dental emergency and my regular dental office was closed. I called around frantically to try and find a place that would take me walk-in on the holiday. ToothSavers was the only one that I came across that was actually open. They gave me directions to their office and said just to drop by.
There were other patients at practice, and I was surprised to see a few staff there on the holiday. The receptionist greeted me instantly, and within 10 minutes of walking through the door I was in a dentist??s chair. They sent me home feeling great, and between their prices and experience that I received during my visit, it was enough to convince me to make them my regular dentist.

I was referred to ToothSavers by a local friend who heard I was looking for a dentist after moving to New York. She had seen a doctor at one of their practices for a number of years, and said that despite some unusual new stories circulating about them, that they really are the best with price and with making your feel comfortable.
After doing some research online, I found that while there was some negative information out there ?? there was plenty of positive from patients of ToothSavers for many years. Having had bad experiences with dentists in the past, I was skeptical and had to be diligent. I finally decided to make an appointment and all of the good things that I??d seen and heard were true. Their prices are affordable, especially surprising in NYC but the experience that you receive doesn??t feel like one that??s on a budget.
They have done a great job every time I go into their office, and they are so professional and compassionate. I can??t imagine how anyone could experience otherwise in one of their offices.

Professional and speedy! I'm so grateful to everyone on staff. I had to have a few teeth removed recently and they made a very stressful and scary situation as peaceful as possible. I'm now on a great payment plan and keep recommending toothsavers to my friends.
