.

I happened into the Scentier outlet while in Checotah right after Thanksgiving. I actually went in to see what stock they had left from Carman's Candlery (their previous business.) I had heard of Scentier, but really had no idea what the fuss was all about.

After watching a video on the lamps and their claims to clean the air, I purchased a lamp (at 75% off retail) and bottle of vanilla lamp fuel and then sent it home with my mother (couldn't take it on the plane due to it being flammable.)

I just got around to trying the lamp for the first time this week. In doing some research, it is an effusion lamp that uses a fuel made out of 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean and fragrance the air. You fill the lamp with oil, insert the wick (which is topped with a stone and is called a "catalytic burner") and then light. Let it burn for 2 minutes and blow out. The stone glows red hot and burns off the fuel with no flame.

I was immediately blown away by how well the lamp scented a large area. MUCH better than candles or reed diffuser sets. To extinguish, you place a little lid over the burner and it goes out.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and wish I would have bought more lamps to give as gifts! The prices and selection at the Checotah Scentier outlet store are excellent!
