Though Buon' Amici is a new addition to Lower Manhattan, the Communiellos are not. Patricia and Michael are Little Italy natives and live in the seaport area. With a true sense of community, they have embarked on a new venture and have brought "real deal" home Italian cooking to the up-and-coming Fulton Street neighborhood. Buon' Amici serves up great tasting southern Italian cuisine, with many of the dishes created from Patricia's original recipes. Most of the ingredients are still purchased at the famous shops on Mulberry Street, and all the food is as fresh as can be. Executive Chef Braulio Bunay perfectly translates old family recipes into a sumptuous Italian feast, complete with freshly made canolies that are impossible to resist. Each diner immediately feels as though they have been brought back to their grandmother's house, as family is there to greet you when you enter.

New York City has many places ti eat as you know, but a lot of the time you can come across a very good place that will blow you away, it may be something as simple as a pasta dish.

The best Italian place to eat in Manhattan!

by dkennedy11

Maybe it's because I am good family friends and neighbors with the owners, but I truly do love this restaurant. It's the only place where I can eat raviolis that aren't made by my mother. Their food and wine is fantastic and comforting, just sitting back with a glass of chianti and a plate of pesto gnocchi listening to dean martin in the background and you're back in Sicily. I love Pattie and Mike, they're great people and they always put the customer first, just how any restaurant should be ran. Love you guys!

Pros: Fantastic environment, food, wine, EVERYTHING!!

Cons: Too small, EXPAND!! :)

The Best Italian Restaurant in the Downtown Area -- It's a Must!

by johanna11

Folks, you've just got to try this place. The food's great -- real homestyle, oldstyle Italian dishes. The people who own it feel like family and anyone and everyone that comes in is family too! I live the in the area and there are lots of new places cropping up around us, but if you are in the mood for hearty, tasty, Italian dishes, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

Tell Pat and Mike hello when you get there!

Pros: Can't say enough about this place -- best for your dollar

Cons: Absolutely None

Excellent neighborhood restaurant.

by spencemasta

I tried out this place after reading the reviews of others on citysearch. It is exactly how they describe it. The food is truly solid. At the start of the meal, the bread given was toasted nice and crispy. The entrees that we had was the porkchop, lobster fra diavalo and the osso buco. All were cooked very well. The porkchop was a thick cut slab that was perfectly cook. Very Juicy with a very cheesy potato pancake and stir fried spinach. The osso buco was soft and tender with a very well prepared. The lobster was just barely cooked through. The timing of the chef is very good. If you live in the area, this restaurant is definitely worth a go.

Pros: The owners care.

Cons: Limited seating

Delicious Food

by kbnugget

This is my fave Italian restaurant in NYC b/c of the owners! They're such sweet ppl.! & The food is absolutely wonderful! Definitely doesn't taste generic! The artisanal pastas & crisp, but soft, bread are delicious! I've never had a glass of wine or a cocktail @ Buon Amici that I didn't love either!

Pros: Yummy menu, friendly owners & staff, great drinks, intimate setting

Cons: Can't think of any!

So worth it!

by pd0011

One (1) word defines this place . . . GREAT. Great food, great atmosphere, great service, great location, great owners, great location / neighborhood and great prices! Just went with a group of nine (9) for a friend's birthday and everyone loved it. Excellent menu with plenty of options. Rave reviews on the pork chop, the penne alla vodka, lasagna, chicken parm AND the meatballs!! Very good and inexpensive wine list too. There is a really cool wine bar around the block for pre dinner cocktails and a fun bar right next door. Well worth the trip!!!!!

Pros: service, menu, atmosphere

Charming Italian in the Neighborhood

by lizzylist

Pat and Mike make you feel right at home here. Had brunch here, again today. Brunch is a fairly recent addition at Buon'Amici. It is one of the best values in the neighborhood. My friend had the seafood omelet, I had the eggs florentine. They have really good bread here! I have also been here for dinner and lunch. One time I had a pasta/mushroom special that Pat suggested. Pat will always guide you in the right direction! The atmosphere is small and cozy (even better when the TV in the bar area is OFF). There is always Italian music playing which adds to the ambience.

Pros: Food, Service/Value, Tiny/Cozy

Cons: Tiny/Cozy

Hidden little gem!

by cb1977

This place serves up standard Italian cuisine with a huge sincere punch! I stumbled upon it one night and when I walked in, I was welcomed with so many smiles, I thought I was home. A quaint little place with budding flowers on each table and Sinatra serenading me and my stuffed shrooms..which are to die for. I had the Chicken Picatta. I wanted to lick my plate. My friend had the pork chop broiled with cherry peppers. This thing is a monster packed with flavor. I left seriously satisfied with money left in my pockets. South street seaport needed a place like this!

Pros: big portions, cheap, ambience

Great little place with a home feeling

by crkboy1

I overheard a woman sitting next to me say... " I had to check in the kitchen to make sure my Grandmother wasn't back there!!!" Honestly, she was right! The food was great... A small place but it has a feeling like you are sitting at home with your family. I live in the neighborhood and this place is a great new addition. I would definitely recommend checking it out!

Pros: Inexpensive, Good Food
