After a tour at the WTC site and it's surroundings, I was looking for a good place to eat but didn't know exactly what I wanted. When I walked into Oliva's Gourmet, I fell in love! They had EVERYTHING that I had hoped for. This came as a bad choice in a way because at this point, I couldn't make up my mind. I couldn't resist the pizza. I picked out a pesto/tomato pizza to eat there. The man behind the counter heated it up for about 3 minutes in their brick oven. It was some of the best pizza I had ever had! I had paid $87.00 at a pizzeria (claiming to be the best in NYC) the night before and had OK pizza. The pizza at Oliva's with a drink cost a mere $5.75!!!!!! I loved this place! I will be back, for sure!!!

Pros: Great FOOD!

Cons: Limited seating in back

We haven't had this much fun in years. We had to wait a bit for our table because the place was jumping. But handsome Christian the bartender charmed us at the bar and had us doing a "tasting shot tray" of high end tequila followed by these shots of "sangrita" this spicy red concoction. The tapas was authentic and inexpensive and really excellent. When the band started up we felt like we were in Spain and after a bottle of good Rioja we were primed. The staff is friendly and very good looking and all of the food was wonderful[try the skirt steak]. This will be a regular destination spot for us. We made it out for under $100 for five people and we didn't skimp on anything, particularly the drinks!

I watched in horror as an employee knocked a stack of plastic food containers to the floor, then picked them with her ungloved hands, reorganized the stack and put them back for people to use. If you go anywhere near the cold food buffet, you're a fool. You might as well eat off the sidewalk -- at least that hasn't been handled by someone who minutes earlier took out the trash.
