The Village of Kinderhook is an early 1600's Dutch settlement. It's most famous native son was Martin Van
Buren, the 8th US President. His home, Lindenwald is
located here and is a National Historic Site. Washington
Irving frequently stayed here and wrote his famous novel, "Rip Van Winkle" during one of those visits.
