As much as I have in the past enjoyed the occasional (albeit very pricey) meal at Park Terrace Bistro, I must warn you that if your burger isn't as you requested (ie, well done in my case) YOU might get yelled at by the OWNER and yes even thrown out of the restaurant. When my "well done" burger came out bleeding onto the plate, I had the audacity to request that it be cooked a bit more and in retaliation for my outlandish request, my burger came back with partially cooked bacon and a burned bun. I did however appreciate that he had wiped the bl00d from my plate. As I asked the waiter to speak with the manager to address these issues, the cook gestured me to the kitchen. When I didn't get up from the table, the cook (owner) then flew out of the kitchen ranting about not having time to make my dinner "twice" saying that is how he "would make it for his mother". Stunned , I tried again to simply request that he correct the problems and he got in my face and responded with, "SHUT UP AND GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT OR I'LL CALL 911."
Confused by his actions, my friend and I looked around at a restaurant full of other confused and shocked faces. I must stress that we remained calm and the OWNER was the one screaming and creating a scene! How a simple matter of an undercooked burger could escalate to a situation bordering on violent is confusing to say the least. I thought it only fair to warn people that these issues stem directly from the owner and that they should patronize the restaurant at their own risk.

Pros: Beautiful Restarant

Cons: Violent, belligerent owner, inconsistent quality

There's nothing I love more than "discovering" a gem of a restaurant, and this is one such place. I went for dinner and got some type of salad with goat cheese and I think slivered almonds. For the entree, I got lamb shamp with couscous I believe, prunes, peanuts, and wonderful spices. For dessert, some cookies and the best mint tea I've ever had. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I can't wait to introduce it to a friend!

My wife and I happily live in the Inwood section of Northern Manhattan and absolutely love it. There are great parks, lots of spacious apartments, and very nice people. The only things that were missing when we first moved to the neighborhood nine years ago were "fine dining" restaurants. You can't beat the food and value of the numerous Spanish restaurants in the neighborhood or some of the pubs, but we wouldn't call any of them fine dining. This was why we were so excited when we saw PTB being built and heard all the buzz about it. Soon after it opened, we went in and were very impressed by the interior - very nicely decorated and cozy feeling. It is Moroccan-inspired and the decor lives up to it without being over-the-top. There is a wonderful bar and a good wine list. We've gone there on several occassions and mostly enjoyed ourselves (b/c of the ambience and company), but can't say that we go there independently without being invited for special occassions. The food quality has been inconsistent. We've had some nice meals (usually the specials), but other meals failed to impress. The prices are VERY steep for this neck-of-the woods and the portions are usually pretty meager. The menu is pretty small with very little variety. We were happy when, for a time, they offered lunch sandwiches, as were many of our other friends in the neighborhood, but the offering was halted abruptly. It's also been confusing trying to figure out when they are open other than dinner hours because they have inconsistently been open for lunch and/or brunch. The waitstaff has always been friendly and attentive and the owner is a very nice person. I wish them continued success, but I suggest that if they want to bring the masses back, they really need to either up the portions or drop the prices.
