Service has always been very bad, even if we were the only customers the service is very slow. I had a living social coupon and got completely ripped off. They served less than 1/3 of the normal portions expecting us to pay the full

If you are looking for great Traditional Peruvian dishes look no further. Everything from the atmosphere to the service and especially the food was nothing short of outstanding. The most aunthentic and tasty ceviche I've ever had including the pisco sour. Main course lomo saltado out of this world delicious!!! Very friendly people . I highly recommend this place and we will definately be back.

This place is amazing! The restaurant is really nice, and the food is delicious!!!! :) The portions were just right and the presentation was enticing. We quenched our thirst and began the festivities with a pitcher of Sangria that served it's purpose and gave us the buzz we needed to finish our meals. Our server was quite knowledgeable of the menu and the service was prompt. The atmosphere was cozy and warm and allowed us to unwind for the evening. The best authentic peruvian food I've ever had the best in the city hands down! I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for delicious Peruvian cuisine.

What an awesome Ceviche I had at Lima's Taste, it was definitely cooked the way Ceviche is supposed to be cooked. My favorite is the Ceviche Caliente, yeah baby it will rock your world. The Yuca to accompany it is so delicious and sweet. I've had the Chicken Causa as well and it is so tasty, mmmmmm. As you can see I am a fan of Lima's Taste. On another occasion I've had the Pollo Escaveche, and OMG it is out of this world....the taste will make you see angels..I recommend

ON 03/20/10 ME AND MY SISTER WANTED TO TRY HOW GOOD WAS THE FOOD IN THIS "RESTAURANT"
WHAT A HORRIBLE DISSAPOINTMENT!!! FIRST THE TOASTED CORN(CANCHA) WAS BATHED IN OIL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE FOR SO LONG TIME STORED SO THEY CAN SAY IS FRESH!!
SECOND WE ORDERED TWO CEVICHES AND THE NIGHTMARE STARTED . NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD PAID SO MUCH FOR A SERVING THAT SIZE,.....A DIONNER PLATE IS USUALLY (AT LEAST IN PERU) USED TO SERVE FOOD . THE CEVICHES CAME IN A LITTLE TRAY (USED TO SERVE CORN ON THE COB) ....THEN NUMBER ONE THE SWEET POTATO WAS SO HARD AND UNCOOKED AND THE FISH INSTEAD OF BEING RAW AND MARINATED IN LILME JUICE(AS IT SHOULD BE) WAS TOO MUSHY AND COLD DUE TO THE FACT THEY PREPARED WAY BEFORE HAND AND THE SOAKED IN LIME JUICE AND FREEZE IT..WRONG!!!!!!!!!! ASK ANY PERUVIAN HOW FRESH THE CEVICHE SHOULD BE ..... THE FISH FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE SHOULD BE FRESH( NOT THAWED) AND THE LIME JUICE AND OTHER SPICES SHOULD BE ADDED AT THE VERY RIGHT MOMENT OF SERVING ...THIS CEVICHE TO GET THIS MUSHY STATE, WAS FREEZED TOO LONG IN THE FRIDGE ALONG WITH THE JUICES..........
AND TO COMPLEMENT WE ORDERED A CAUSA...AND TO OUR SURPIRSE THE SIZE OF A CAUSA WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A WATER CRACKER/COOKIE WHICH WE PAID 10 DOLLARS
AT THE END OF THIS HORRENDOUS SITUATION FOR TWO CEVICHES 1 CAUSA AND 2 SODAS
THE BILL WAS 60.00 DOLLARS....!!!!!AND THY HAD THE NERVE TO ADD A WHOOPING 20% GRATUITY (ABOUT 10 DOLLARS ) AND I CALLED THE WAITRESS AND ASKED WHY THEY INICLUDED THE GRATUITY ON THE BILL AND HE SAID IT WAS THE RESTAURANT POLICY.NOT IT WAS PLAIN RIPOFF SO I DENIED TO PAY THE GRATUITY AND HE IN TOTAL STATE OF SHAME DEDUCTED FOR THE BILL
I USED TO HAVE A RESTAURANT AND ONE THING TO BE IN THE FOOD BUSINESS AND ANOTHER WHAT LIMA'S TASTE DOES IS A HOLDUP OF MOSTLY AMERICAN CUSTOMERS WHO DONT KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT THE FLAVOR AND DETAIL OF PERUVIAN CUISINE..PLAIN AND SIMPLE
TO END DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR DO NOT GO THAT RESTAURANT GO SOMEWHERE WHERE YOUR POCKET AND STOMACH WILL THANK YOU

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: WORST CEVICHE I HAVE EATEN IN MY LIFE

.

Everything about this place is excellent. As a New Orleanian, I KNOW FOOD...and Lima's Taste is EXCELLENT!!! The ceviche is fresh, spicy, and utterly foodgasmic. The pisco sour cocktails put the New Orleans Hurricane cocktail to shame. If you are on a date...order the pisco and your nerves will immediately fly away. In addition your date will suddenly appear to be more attractive.

Last night I went to The Lucille Lortel Theater on Christopher Street. When we left it was pouring rain. Across the street is Limas Taste. To avoid the rain we ducked into Limas Taste. Good lord that was one of the most superb culinary experiences I have ever experienced. The three of us shared everything--ribs, paella, the chicken smothered in a peruvian sauce over yucca and shrimp wrapped in bacon were all washed down with a very powerful sangria. Peruvian food is cool....

This is one if not my favorite restaurants. The food is a treasure. Try the ceviche mixto, the papa rellena, the ribs and the chicken in the cream sauce. The seafood in a spicy sauce is the ultimate. I am half Peruvian and can tell you this is the best Peruvian food I have ever eaten in America. I also feel the need to defend them after reading some of the reviews. The service is not that bad and they deal with a large "international" clientele. As a Peruvian I will say we are a warm beatiful people but when it comes to eating in restaurants we are a little difficult and I understand how the wait staff might have had a few off moments. My experience has always been pretty good with the wait staff, they are not exceptional but they are more than adequate. The place is great for drinking, you must try the Pisco Sour.

I had dinner there on Oct. 1 and it was a big disappointment. No one greeted us, the host was playing a video game facing opposite the entrance. Most f the drinks on the menu were not available since the slush machine had been broken for a week. Really...
Then we saw a few mice crawling around the dining area, they were hard to see since the light were dim. When I alereted our waiter, he shrugged indicating that it happens at nighttime. The passionfruit dessert was rtoo swet and had to wait 5 minutes after it was brought to my table to get a spoon.

Excellent food, uniquely different to other cuisines. We found the staff to be very curtious and friendly. The service was slow, but, we were out enjoying our dinner, our company, and talking over delicious food - who want's to be rushed when you are enjoying yourself. It was our second visit and will not be our last. Lima's Taste is a favorite for us.

First of all, I am not exaggerating when I say that the entire staff here are so incredibly rude, to the point of being shocking. You can expect to be rushed out, only after being ignored and subjected to a "your lucky to be here" attitude. There's a guy [ with a rather disturbing Geri-Curl ] who stomps around loudly, like a zombie taking plates before asking, mumbling about the patrons and grabbing menus out of peoples hands. It was unbelievable, everyone was looking around at one another in disbelief. Everyone on staff was nasty to everyone. I thought perhaps we were taking part in a "Candid Camera" episode. You do not want to go here, especially when there are so many wonderful restaurants in Manhattan to choose from. If you are jonesing for paella, really great paella, go to Socaratt [spelling?] on 259 W19th and 7th Ave.

Yesterday, I had dinner with my best friend at Lima's Taste. She was coming from Ohio and I wanted to invite her to have some Peruvian food. I'm from Peru and I have tried almost every peruvian restaurant in New York and I have to say that Lima's Taste offers authentic Peruvian Cuisine.
First, we started with Ceviche Mixto that was very good even the portion was kind of small. Then we tried Papa Rellena and my friend was surprised for the flavor, she just loved it. As a main course, I ordered Aji de Pollo: even is a different style than the original one (no steamed potato) the dish was excellent. My friend ate Lomo Saltado that was amazing!!!! We had two Pisco Sours (were ok) and Alfajores as a dessert (10/10). The place is small but cozy and the service is average.
My friend has fallen in love with Peruvian Cuisine thanks to Lima's Taste.

I went last Saturday to have some ceviche at this small restaurant with my husband. We had Pisco Sour that was ok and Fish and Salmon Ceviche. The Ceviches were really excellent with a side of huge steam corn. Then we tried the Creamy salmon with rice that was amazing!!!! The atmosphere was romantic, the service was good. I recommend the place.

Had plans to eat dinner here but since it started pouring, I almost decided not to go. Glad I didn't let the rain from changing my plans. Ceviche was very good as well as the papa rallena (sp?). Tried the cow heart skewers and they were tasty. Had the escaveche (fish) and the sauce was very good. Drinks were good as well (pisco sour and sangria). Service was a little on the slower side but maybe thats just the culture. The food and drinks more then made up for a relaxing night at a cozy restaurant.

I went to this cozy peruvian restaurant last Friday with some doubts before reading the mixed reviews, but my experience was excellent. The food was superb! The mix ceviche and the filet mignon were so tasty, the drinks (pisco sour) were ok. The service was very good, the waitress kindly answered all our questions about the menu. I strongly recommend this place and I definitely will come back.

We had a dinner on a Saturday night, the food was excellent.
But the service was horrible.
Waitstaff was in hurry to close the restaurant, they closed the coffee machine before we got the main course, and the waitress dropped the check (200$...) while she was having a conversation on her cell phone...
In those difficult time I think it's important to remember the restaurants who will survive are the ones who take care of their guests...

The service was almost perfect, even though the place was extremely busy. The drinks were great, and everything, from the starters thru dessert, beat my expectations.

-1 star for the somewhat the creamy fillet. Still tasty, but should have been warmer!

Reasonable prices and GREAT food. Good wine portions - you get a lot for what you pay for. This place is really known for their seafood, so I can't really complain. However, I've heard that their chicken are good too. You have to order their desserts.

This was the first of numerous Latin cuisine places we visited on a recent trip to NYC. Nice enough inside, but some soap opera was playing on the flat screen that early evening, rather than SoAm futbol, or something. The Ceviche Pescado was terrific, but VERY limey. Still, we preferred it over the Mezcla. Followed by what is probably the best piece of Snapper I've ever had (We live on the florida East Coast, and get a lot), firm, still moist, with a slightly sweet, caramelized topcoat. Really, really well-executed. Service was fine, and attentive enough, although the place was only half-full at 5:30 on a Thursday. We left wishing we had a few places like this close to our home. Try it.

I went there with some friends for a cocktail and appetizer and wound up trying so many wonderful dishes.
The wine list is impressive, the food authentic and sensational. Nelly, the owner/chef is right there with her customers. Friendly, helpful service, if you don't know what to try she'll recommend something amazing and get you the right wine to go with it. Good ceviche and interesting Peruvian specialties.

GO THERE, TRY IT YOU WON"T BE SORRY!

I had my birthday dinner here a few months ago and was very happy with the overall experience. We were a party of about 15, many of whom arrived late. The host still sat us and the wait staff handled the large crowd wonderfully. On top of the good service, the food was excellent! Everyone I spoke to after dinner commented on how great their meal was and many of us plan to go back in the future. I would highly recommend Lima's Taste for any occasion.

The host still sat us and the wait staff handled the large crowd wonderfully. On top of the good service, the food was excellent! Everyone I spoke to after dinner commented on how great their meal was and many of us plan to go back in the future. I would highly recommend Lima's Taste for any occasion.

Pros: Excellent food

Cons: None

.

The seafood ceviche was delicious but too picante for my friends...the rest of the food was ok. Better the Pisco souer. I went there hoping to find a good taste of Peruvian food and friendly people. Anfortunately the service was awful...the waiters were not at all friendly and they brought us the check without even asking for it and we couldn't get desert or more piscos. A complete dissapointed as I have Peruvian friends are very nice and warm. I won't be back there for sure.

While we quite enjoyed Peruvian food in Peru we were very disappointed by Lima's Taste. Apart from the ceviche and the pisco sour which were quite good, the main dishes were mediocre and the lamb I ordered had so much pepper my taste buds went completely numb.

Apart from the mediocre meal, the service was indifferent at best with a bored wait staff and a bill that took almost thirty minutes to get. The owner seems to be hovering around in an effort to salvage the situation but we won't be dining in this expensive pepper-galore restaurant.

Where should I start pleasant and friendly environment as you walk in, the ceviche bar is amazing not only they have a great variety of ceviche is also the best ceviche we ever had it's clearly the best compared to any other. Hot appetizer like rellena, anticucho are out of this world, main courses like lomo, ribs, picante are to die for its DELICIOUS!!! Overall is the most delicious Peruvian authentic food we ever had everything is so yummy and well decorated. The service is very friendly makes you feel like home along with good looking waiters is a plus GREAT SERVICE. The drinks pisco sours and sangria are also amazing we definitely coming back without a doubt and if you havent been there yet you should we highly recommended.

Bad place, service is very bad, they make you feel that they are doing you a favor for eating there, the food is over priced, over $20. the environment is not for kids, innapropiate peoples' pictures at the bathroom walls.
its located at Christophers st, sourrounded by many adult stores. some drunks were peeing in the streets, we were discusted to see that, right accross from our window. The waiter was very rude and not willing to make you feel welcome. When I asked for an extra side of eggs, he said"The cook is the boss", " She doesnt do that" no further explanation was given, he never came back to ask if we needed anything, we requested water and naver got it. We paid about $60 for a salad and a dish, I will never goback.

My dining experience in this place was a nightmare, when I ordered a bottle of wine the waiter got me an uncorked one, put it on the table and walked away when I asked the waiter for the menu because I was sure that I didn't make a mistake on my order the manager showed up with the excuse that they were serving a "substitute"??, I was so upset because they tried to fool me in something so basic that I told the manager that I was leaving , in that moment the guy replied ..."go and never come back", of course I won't!! then the same waiter from the other side of the room yelled " get out you f**" and four guys from the kitchen surrounded me trying to intimidate me, at that point I called the police, if you don't believe me call the Precinct (police) they should have a note of the incident.

Pros: Located on a nice and friendly neighborhood

Cons: worst service ever, even worst management.

This is the best food in the city. If you love to eat good food, with amazing flavours then you should definetly eat here. Peruvian food is the best on earth, but here it is made even better. the Aji de pollo, Picante, lomo saltado, escaveche are amazing. Everytime single time I go I always have a great time- the ambience is beautiful, the service is perfect, and the food is amazing.

I had the most amazing dining experience on friday night. I had recently returned from a trip to Peru and was craving the native food when a neighbor recommended Lima's Taste. I was greeted with a smile at the door and the waiter went out of his way to find the perfect seating arrangements in an already packed resturaunt. I can be very picky when ordering and all my needs were met exactly. I had the ceviche and my friend had the aji de pollo.............wow!! I felt like i was back in Lima. I can wait to return to try the rest of the menu and the friendly service will be an added bonus. This restaurant is a must try and definitely on my top ten list. Thank you Lima's taste :)

I went there on Friday night, I?m Peruvian, and I have to say the food is not that great. It doesn't taste like any Peruvian food that I know. However, that's not the worst part it was the horrible service we had. The waiter was awful and couldn't wait to get rid of us he basically kicked us out by bringing the check while I was still eating. I wasn't even done and he brought the check over! It gives Peruvians such a bad image.

If you're in the mood for Peruvian food, I recommend Mancora much better -drinks are fabulous and the food is delicious. Its at first avenue.

I've flight to Peru few weeks ago and i fell in love with the food over there. Then i came over Lima's Taste, a cozy peruvian restaurant in the west village. At my surprise the food was even better over here than the one i have in the very same country. The enviroment was great, the music was very inviting and the sangria was totally spiritual! I started witha few ceviches, then i tried the lomo saltado and we ended up with a green paella that absolutely fantastic. Simply the best eating experience i ever had. I totally recomended it..bring your friends you wont regreted!

EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SO COLD AND WE WERE LATE FOR OUR RESERVATIONS AND WE HAD TO WAIT 20 MINUTES TO BE SEATED, THE OWNERS OF THE PLACE WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND OFFER US A COMPLIMENTARY DRINK AS WE WAITED. THE ENVIROMENT WAS VERY COZY AND ROMANTIC, THE DECORATION ALTHOUGH SIMPLE IS VERY TRENDY AND THE FOOD WAS AT ITS BEST! MY GIRLFRIEND AND I HAD THE BEST VALENTINE'S EVER AND THE CHECK WAS VERY REASONABLE TOTALLY A PLACE I RECOMEND.
PS. YOU MUST TRY THE PISCO SOURS!

BUT TOTALLY UNFRIENDLY .ALSO, THEY DONT LIKE GAY PEOPLE BECAUSE THE WAITORS WERE MAKING FUN OF ME. I HAD THE ABSOLUTE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE THERE. THE MENU SAYS THEY CHARGE A 20 % GRATUITY FOR PATIES OF 6 OR MORE. GREAT. BUT WE WERE 4 AND THEY TACKED ON A 20 % GRATUITY_ AFTER TAX. WE RAISED THE WAITOR WHO SAID HE WAS THE MANAGER AND OWNER AND HE SAID
THAT"S JUST THE WAY WE DO IT. I THINK THIS IS ENOUGH REASON TO MAKE ME DONT GO BACK THERE EVER AGAIN.

I was in NY for business and everywhere I go I check out a peruvian restaurant. This place was outstanding. It is located in a real chic, cute part of town. Even though the restaurant is cozy, I think it seats a little over 50 people, it is elegant. I am Peruvian and I think there were mainly non-peruvians there. At 9:30 p.m., when I arrived, it was packed. That is a good sign that the food is good. If you want real authentic, savory peruvian dishes this is where you should go!

My family is Peruvian, I've visited the country, cook the food myself, and as a result am very particular about the cuisine. My friend and I started out with the ceviche pescado, which was fabulous and served the appropriate way with yams and "concha," toasted peruvian corn. We then shared a papa rellena which was fantastic, not greasy and full of flavorful meat. We ended the meal with the chicken anticuchos, which are Peruvian Chicken kababs. The chicken and the accompanying sauce were great. My only criticism would be the portions are a bit small for the price. I would definitely go back here.

Maybe my friends are trendsuckers, maybe they really like ceviche? When they came as apetizers I stared at my pals gross display of attacking the dishes like an eskimo harpooning fish in the springtime. I don't get the ceviche thing but in fairness I really don't go for sushi either. It will be intersting to see if ceviche makes a dent in sushi's marketshare. When that part of the meal was over I was relieved. It was time for main courses. And there it was my all tiime favorite dish paella. It was truly one of the better paellas I've ever eaten, and I basically eat paella when ever it's on a menu when I eat out. It had a more dimensional taste then most. It was flavorful without being overwhelmed by spicyness. It also didn't have that dreadful msg synthetic false pop of flavor. I edged my way toward the kitchen and somehow got in a conversation with one of the chefs. After a sincere compliment she broke down and told me the secret (which apearantly isn't a secret). After showing off my new found discovery at the office I was immediately shot down as naive and behind the cullinary curve). The magic ingredient (drumroll please), is for the paella to be cilantro based with Peruvian spices and not safron based. I write about this because I haven't been pleasantly surprised in a long while and want to reach out to other paella lovers who feel that life is becoming mundane. By the way those Pisco Sours are all theyre cracked up to be, especially if you want to be cracked up.

Three years ago I traveled South America and discovered ceviche. I found Lima's Taste on the internet and gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to find it's ceviche authentic and as good as what I had in south America. The Ceviche Tuna was spicy and tasty. My table also ordered the Ceviche Mixto--shrimp, squid, baby octopus and fish--truly delicious and refreshing. We smartly took the waiters advice and orderd with it the chicken causa--a mashed potato ball stuffed with chicken & avacado--and the grilled Cow Heart Anticucho. This was ironic because for a while I could of sworn they were playing Captain Beefheart on the stereo. The place is a little chaotic but the staff rolled wioth it and kept the service at an O.K. level. Two Pisco Sours later the loud crowd sounded like a chorus. The main courses were also fantastic. I had the Frederico Flintstona Ribs--best ribs I've ever eaten in New York. The waiter told me theres a special Peruvian basting sauce heay on ground up peppers that are only grown in Peru. The decor is truly stunning with odd juxtopisitions. A painting of The Last Supper with Jesus and his deciples in Panchos? A Clockwork Orange black & white still in a blue lit bathroom? The never ending parade of hustlers walking up and down Christopher Street? It's not just dinner, it's dinner and a show!! At 11P.M. with my table near the window, it really felt like "Take a walk on the wild side." Do to do to do to do to dotodo......

Halloween night I wanted to watch the parade remnants at a restaurant with a huge window on Christopher Street. Lima's Taste fit the bill--and it was gorgeous and surreal in design to boot. It was like conquistodors meets Led Zeppelin. You have to see it to understand. Anyways the pisco sours and sangria and the really cool rock set the stage for a really wild night. I have no idea what I ate but it was some of the most absolutely delicious food I've ever eaten. I'm going back not so smashed so I can study Peruvian cuisine with a more tuned eye. It is reer that I have experienced a restaurant this much fun and loose with some of the most novel amazing food. Thank you Lima's Taste for reviving my faith in finding something new and outragous thats quality. See you soon.

I took my parents here. I selected this restaurant because I never tasted Ceviche and it had great reviews. I was packed the night we went , but they come quickly with Pisco Sour while we wait, wich was great , it was worth the wait..... The ceviches were outstanding and refreshing
comes with big! corn and yams is a meal itself, and if you are feeling adventurous try the grilled cow's heart it is a real treat, for main course we had sudado ( fish steam in beer and spices),very flavorful, lomo saltado and paella which was excellent . The place is nice and private , the night made a wounderful experience for us. We are definitely comung back in a less busy night.

Bad, Bad, Bad. This place loses on every count. The service is terrible and teh food is at best passable if you are starving. We oredred sangria which tasted horrible and our tuna ceviche was fishy. We sent both back. The food was slathered in onions and salt. Our waiter was working alone, totally unfriendly and overwhelmed. Also, no music...no atmoshpere. My prediction closed within 6 months.
