I've been going to this jean louis david for a while now and my only complaint is that manager. She is completely unprofessional. Everytime I'm in there she yells at someone like they're idiots, meanwhile I feel she is the only idiot. She's constantly on the phone or hiding in the back. I can't tell u how many times she has stopped my stylist to ask her to mix her colors for her. How sad. She brags about her experience which I think is minimal. She has no leadership skills and I feel this isn't the position for her. My stylist should be the manager in this place because she can thoroughly answer your questions with confusing you or sounding incompetant. Maria is lazy and unmotivated and I feel she should not be running that shop. If u ever go to this jean louis david, ask for danielle. This is a girl who knows her stuff and will always have u feeling good when u leave.

I'm not opposed to different nationalities but the girls in this place speak so rudely. I had gotten a horrible haircut in there and this little lady who looked like a witch was absolutely rude to me and was left dissatisfied and upset. Next thing I knew this young kid chased me down the street and professionally apologized to me and that amazed me. She was so nice and understanding and offered to help me out but she explained that it would have to be when her manager was there since she was not the original stylist. I understood and was back to see her soon after. If u go there look for the trandy young kid who's gonna be going places. She's fabulous!

I had done an experiment on my head that didn't go to well. I walked into jean louis david and they recommended Danielle to look at my hair. When I sat in her chair and began talking with her she made me feel comfortable and relaxed. She made me trust her the second she began speaking and I was relieved cuz let's face it I was FREAKIN! After we did a thorough consultation she bagan her magic. And by the time she was finished I felt better then my old self. I am now a regular customer for her and each time she makes me look and feel great! I definately recommend this girl to everyone. She's hip, trendy, sweet and most importantly extrememly knowledgable in her field.

I have been going to Maria for my haircuts for more than a year. 18 months ago, I had hair almost to my waist and stupidly went to Supercuts on St Marks, asking for a few inches off. I came out with a lop-sided bob ABOVE my shoulders!!! So after 8 weeks of misery, I got up the courage to return to a hairdresser to get it fixed, and found Maria at Jean Louis David. I explained what had happened and how nervous I was, and an hour later I came out with a cute, shaped mop of curls! So I have been going to her ever since, and have never had a bad haircut. She knows I am on a tight budget so never pressures me to get the blowdry and other extras, but always gives me lots of time and attention. I would definitely recommend her.

It's impossible to judge a salon by one person's cut, but my experience certainly weighed heavy on the sheer-terror scale. I have a basic haircut and just asked for a trim, so my request certainly wasn't a difficult one. The hair stylist never once used scissors. Instead she broke out electric cutters (a la boot camp) and proceeded to give me a Full Metal Jacket-style cut with short hair on top and almost no hair left on the sides and back. Better still, it wasn't even in all places, unintentionally. Looks ilke she went too deep at one point towards the back of the top of my head and then missed a patch of hair right next to it. I had an Alfalfa hair-clump sticking upin back (that's the character from Little Rascals, right?). Fortunately I could just snip it off, though nothing I could do about the super short hairs right next to it. In all fairness, I should have jumped out of the chair early on. I thought the electric cutter were for the sideburns, and by the time she just dug on in, I thought it was too late. You know how stylists take handfuls of hair and cut? She literally did that with the electric cutters, so she wasn't merely running the razor across my head (though she did do that too, which left my scalp feeling almost burnt). I should have just gotten up and had another salon try to salvage it. Instead, I took the half-full cup approach and gave her a chance hoping she knew what she was doing. Ultimately it was a trainwreck. I literally cancelled all social outtings for the next few days and then made plans to leave for the weekend to avoid my girlfriend hoping the hair on the sides/back of my head would grow back to a stomach-able length before having to face her. (I'm seeing her for the first time tonight and I expect she's gonna make me wear a hat). Again, might have just been this lady. I saw another stylist do a good job on a young lady, but if you go there, just beware of any stylist that pulls out the electric clippers. Run!!!

Pros: inexpensive, great location

Cons: worst haircut I ever got
