Featherheads

How SAD ! Featherheads is FILTHY AND OVERCROWDED. The poor Birds -no toys, dirty water, one bird actually had bird poop all over him ! I wanted to buy all the birds just to get them out of there. The birds did not look healthy or happy !
THE ONE GOOD THING IS THEY HAVE LOTS OF TOYS- BUT everything is filthy ! Who wants to buy a dirty toy for their Bird.

DJFeathers in Chantilly is by far the place to go !
At least the owners really care for their birds, and keep their cages and the store clean.

Went there and I couldn't even breath because of the bird dust. The place is really run down and the staff look dead. Tried to buy a bird and they tried to force me to buy some bird pellets that the bird doesn't even eat because I saw the food they were feeding him and it wasn't pellets so if I didn't buy the pellets I couldn't take the bird home. This is the biggest BS ever and she was so rude. They lost business over pellets never going back and you shouldn't either. Djfeathers is more friendly staff and clean store.

Staff is rude to say the least. You need to wear a mask when you go into the store because the odor is so offensive. The cages are filthy - no toys - no rungs for the majority of the birds - water is filthy - some of the cages there was no food at all in there for the birds. I truly believe they are in way over their heads and need to be forced to clean this store - clean the cages - give the birds the necessary things like water, food, rungs.I wanted to buy 1 or 2 just to get them out of that horrible place. I actually felt like crying - no bird or animal of any kind should have to live in a place like that. I didn't buy any though because I don't want to risk bringing home to my birds any kind of disease.This bird shop is a disgrace. Don't buy anything there - no food - no toys - no cages and most of all no birds - maybe then they will realize they need to clean this place up once and for all.

I read the reviews here and decided to make my own decision based on me going there.

I went, I won't be going back. The staff were rude, I had to hunt for them even though I was standing by the cash register looking for help.

There is no rhyme or reason to how the store is set up, even two staff could not agree if they had what I was looking for. I got the feeling it really annoyed them to have to hunt for my item.

They do have a nice selection of toys but it is very dusty.

There are birds, birds, birds everywhere...to include on the floor where I almost stepped on a baby who flew off the play area. No one seemed really concerned when I picked him up to put him back.

There are better avaries in the area, I would recommend bypassing Featherheads to find them.

I cannot believe the dirtiness of this store. More than 5 birds at a time crammed into bird cubicles with little to no toys.

The smaller birds are even crammed into little boxes that sit upon other cages with nothing in them.

The floors are filthy as well as the toys they sell (covered in bird dust). It makes you wonder if they are safe to take home. They have multiple weanling birds right by the cash register hanging out for people just to handle them.

The staff is not even dressed in any uniformed way. You cannot even tell they are staff.

The upstairs for boarding is dark and is not isolated from the rest of the store, just a set of stairs.

The store is too crowded, it is not organized, nor is there a sign asking you to wash your hands before handling any of the birds- they just hand them to you.

If you want to bring some sort of disease home to your bird, this is the place to go do it!

This is a great shop for the psittacine lover! They have a large variety of food, toys and cages. They also have a nice selection of "human" products (t-shirts, cards, etc) for the bird lover.

PROS: Friendly, knowlegeable staff
CONS: Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
