This was by far the worst manicure and pedicure that I have ever received. I had a guy, don't know his name, and he was very, very bad. During the scrubbing/exfoliation part of the pedicure, he scrubbed off the skin on the side of my foot and made me bleed. I didn't realize the full scope of my injury until afterwards when I inspected my foot. There is a whole portion of my skin the size of my pinky nail that is now gone. Though he realized his error and put some stuff on it to stop the bleeding, he less than overly apologetic. It's now incredibly sore and I don't even want to think of my risk for disease from it. The massage part lasted 30-60 seconds per leg, which also sucked. I chose dark red nail polish and he had to make corrections with nail polish remover on the edges of most of my nails. During the manicure he also cut me and made me bleed. He was again not overly apologetic. He said and I quote "sorry I cut to much" He put the junk to stop the bleeding on that injury too. The manicure massage was a lot better than the foot massage, but it wasn't even close to as good of a massage as I have received elsewhere. I came away with a quite crappy nail and toenail polish job and I got 2 injuries that drew blood. The nail polish has already flaked off of one of my nails and I have been careful all day. Never shall I return.

My husband and I just experienced a couple's massage for Spa Week at this spa. It was a fabulous experience and the staff was polite and helpful and the relaxation room was just that...relaxing. The massage therapist were great and we felt were top notch. One thing I didn't care for but may not be a big deal for some, is the bathroom/locker room. Its very small/cramped and the locker rooms barely fit my belongings. On another plus side though, the robe and slippers were very comfy. Over all, it was a very nice experience and you can't beat the Spa Week prices for a $50 massage!

Normally I don't write in on these things, but the woman who was stressed must have been at another spa other than Modern Day at Pentagon City. I have been going there for over a year and have never once seen kids running around screaming! The staff there are always pleasant and the services are fabulous. Every time I've gone there, I leave more relaxed than ever! They get an A+++++ on waxing and nails - (Ask for Nina, Ann or Amy) they are all great! A little pricey - probably - but you're getting great service and they aren't over priced like some other spas! Highly recommend!

They over charge for bad service
Good luck on finding their good massage therapist
The receptionist lied to me about who was available
They let a bunch of kids run around screaming and laughing while I attempted to get an 80 minute massage.
I am more stressed out now then I was before I got my massage and the manager acts like they did not do anything wrong. I am a mom of two it would have been just as nice to sit in a massage chair while my kids on a sugar high.

Maybe the manager will eventually feel like calling me back so she can tell me that couldn't do anything about it. Who owns these places and do they not know they have bad service?

If you want a good massage go to Statements Day Spa in Woodbridge or Vincent and Vincent.

Although I have not personally beused any of the services offered at this spa, I have visited and purchased a gift certificate, which i woudl recommend to many of the guys out there., who are looking for gifts for their girlfriends. The prices are about in line with many of the other spas in the area. It is also very accessible, and reservations are not neccesarily needed. They treated my girlfriend wonderfully, and she told me that it was a great way for her to unwind from a stressful day at the office.

Modern Day Spa is a very relaxing place to spend a girl's day out and enjoy some pampering. Their prices are a bit high, but most spas are. I like the availability of gift certificates as well, which are great for bridal showers, mother's day, etc. The massages are definitely recommended, and they have a very professional staff.

PROS: Location
CONS: Price
