My family really love the GACA program! There are three locations that classes are held, at the Across Town Repertory Theater, Littlewood Elementary School and the Gainesville Community Playhouse. If you are looking for an affordable art class (like drawing or clay working), or dance class (like beginning ballet or maybe jazz), or music (like piano) you will find a large array of offerings each season through GACA. Class prices vary, but most classes run about six weeks in length, about once a week per class and usually less than $60 per offering. This is very affordable in Gainesville! Our daughter has taken the ballet through GACA at the acrosstown repertory theater and she loved it so much! If you cannot afford a class but want your child to experience one of these wonderful creative outlets, you can apply for a scholarship! Isn't that wonderful? The people with GACA truly want to see every child able to experience the arts and if you need help, you can possibly get a scholarship for your child. I really urge parents to look into their fun and educational programs. Children thrive when they are allowed to let their creativity shine through and this is a really inexpensive and fun way for them to get involoved in many areas!
Please know that most of the classes are not professional in nature and children can wear comfortable play clothes if they choose so no large expenses are required. This is a good venue for parents looking to find their child's true interest before dropping alot of money on an expensive instruction class. And it's lots of fun! Ages 3-18 and programs in the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

PROS: Affordable, lots of class choices, offerings for most ages of children.
CONS: Not professional in nature.
