The owner is a terrible bad evil sort of man. He couldn't make rent on account of his own terrible business practices so without telling his employees he moves everything out overnight and posts a sorry SOL note for his employees coming to

Bought out Jan 1. 2009. Lost most of the regulars and staff. Shop is closed down. The original owner of this coffee shop owns another in Aloha, off of 195th. Same coffee, same old atmosphere, and much of the same old staff.

This is a favorite place of mine as I prefer independant shops. $1 lattes on Sunday is a steal, although the savings is usually lost by purchasing the homemade pastries, which ususally delicious however not bargin priced. The owner is very friendly and remembers my wife and I and our drinks. The fault is partly my own as I forget to ask, however I wish they would promote real mugs over disposable cups, lids and cozies for customers who are staying there. Even when I indicate I am staying there and get a pastry on a plate, the coffee allways comes in a disposable cup. I don't see why everyone seems to prefer $tarbuck$ to places like this.

Pros: Good coffee, homeade bakery items

Cons: odd layout

I'd have to say that it's interesting watching Java Mama change hands. What used to be an extremely popular alternative to Starbucks seems to now be searching for a personality again.

Sometimes it's a little intimidating to walk in - the super-friendly atmosphere is gone.
What used to be very comfy is now feeling much more stylized. Seems like they're catering to men more than women.

I will wait to see how things go with the transition before deciding whether to continue meeting people here.

Java Mama is the best kept secret in Tigard/Beaverton, Oregon. Located on the SW corner of Nimbus and Scholls Ferry in the Miller Paint Shopping Center, this warm and friendly coffee house offers $1 lattes on weekends, free WiFi, and scrumptious homemade pastries. Now that the warmer weather is here, they also offer Gelato to keep you cool! You even get a 20% discount when you buy "Mobi-Bucks". Don't miss this place! 10115 SW Nimbus Avenue. 503-968-1892.

Pros: Way Better than Starbucks -- and Cheaper Too

Cons: Not enough people know about it

I use to be in the coffee business, and I was certainly skeptical at the change of ownership in the business. The new owner seems to have a firm grasp on the place, and is working diligently to preserve the essence of Java Mama?s while incorporating subtle, but necessary changes. The product is still the same, and consistency is surprisingly reaching it?s target quickly.

Granted, nobody likes change, but in a tough economy when you are increasing revenue of a newly acquisitioned business, it is delightful to see a family work together at succeeding in business. Everyone is friendly, and eager to serve a wonderful product. My hat goes off to them for making a brave acquisition as well as keeping their coffee consistent with what it has always been, which is nothing short of exceptional!

Also, if you haven't tried it yet, their Turkish coffee bar is incredible!

This place used to amazing, so friendly and full of life. I have been getting my coffee here for years. But it seems like over the last couple months (they were bought out, sadly) that, even though its cleaned up much better, it will never be the same again. The new owner is pushy and awkward, it seems most of the previous staff has been replaced by his family, all men. They are all nice enough, but they dont make conversation with anyone and have poor customer service skills. I dont know what it is, but they just dont have that extra somethign that i used to love about the baristas. The few people left on staff from the old crew are still great, i hope that the new owner wises up and keeps whos left. Its the very best part of that place.

This place is a must try coffee spot. I love to go in there and sit in the comfortable chairs, people watch and enjoy an amazing cup of coffee. The muffins are out of this world and the staff is always very friendly.

Love the peeps in here. They're fabulous, they remember you and your drinks, the music is good, the vibe is good. I love it! Go Tuesday mornings for an apple sourcream muffin and a double tall non-fat mexican mocha. MMMMmmmm....makes my day.

Yummy muffins (if you get there early enough to grab one) and great coffee. Very kid friendly place, although I always see people from different walks of life sitting around. Little gem in the Beaverton strip-mall.

Java Mama roasts their own beans right there on site! So cool! shade grown organic coffee makes you feel good about what you are buying and the prices are typical. My favorite part is the staff, real people who enjoy their jobs and like to be up early singing and slide dancing their way through your morning cup. Come early to get a muffin OMG marionberry oatmeal is to die for when hot from the oven... YUM. Java Mama I changed my route to work for you! P.S. Stop by for lunch sometime too, I've never been disappointed with their soup and roll. Great salads too.
