Ratings_icons Good Taekwondo class in Houston, Great Instructors!!!!

houstonkarateka

Awesome instructors!!!

I have trained about a year or more with Chuck Sears 5th Degree, When I moved from NJ to TX.
Awesome personality and great mentor.

Class has all the equipments, good workout, and highly recommended.

Though discontinued due to health reasons, I would highly recommend this class, if you are interested
in learning good techniques and have fun at the same time.

Ratings_icons Greatest little TaeKwonDo School

legs1313

I started with West Houston ATA over 6 years ago, and it has really been great. The instructors are wonderful, and the student-teacher ratio is very low. This means each student gets personalized instruction and all the attention that they require. It has been difficult to make it to class with a new husband, a new house, going to grad school, and a full time job, but I hope to return when life allows. I miss it a lot.
It is also great exercise, helps with flexability, and doesn't get boring like aerobics classes always seem to. I started at age 29, and was never told that I couldn't do something just because I was older than most of the students.
It is a great atmosphere for a whole family to enjoy and exercise together. Self-defense is a big part of the training also, giving an extra reason to go in and check it out.
ATA is comprised by a large community of schools that spans the globe, all teaching the same material. If you start here, and have to move, you can always find another school where you move to, and pick up where you left off. The ATA also sponsors local tournaments, Spring and Fall National tournaments (in Las Vegas and Disney World, respectively), and an annual World Championship in Little Rock, AR (where the headquarters are located). They even encourage people with "disabilities " to join and compete, anything can be overcome.

Come find out just how much you are capable of accomplishing!

Pros: Individualized instruction, good workout without the boredom, workouts in pajamas :)

Cons: Spending more time with the kids (Ha Ha)

Ratings_icons The best martial arts school in West Houston. A real find!

emmasimpson

Great martial arts school for families and singles alike. Small, friendly atmosphere with experienced and fully-trained instructors (one 4th degree and one 5th degree black belt). They will never make you do silly things like some takewondo schools...(Punching a tree until it dies to make master or sparring the black belts during your first class anyone?!? Thought not.) They just want to bring out the best in everyone. (And I managed to lose 25lbs!!!!!)

They are affiliated with the American Taekwondo Association (that's what the "ATA" stands for), which means real quality-standards, which have to be adhered to. They also make a really big deal out of academic excellence and good behavior at home for the kids they teach.

This is a martial arts school for Texans. The ATA is *huge* in the region and there's always fun tournaments and stuff going on if that's what you're into.

I can't recommend this school highly enough. I had to move to Illinois and I can join an ATA school up here and work on the same material I was learning in Houston. It's not the same though :((( Miss you guys!

Pros: Great instruction, quality students!

Cons: None. Just the greatest.
