I used to go here a lot as it was the weekly gathering spot for all of my friends. Place is a little small but as long as it doesn't get super crowded, space isn't an issue. The patio area is nice but can get congested when crowded since people are surrounding the small bar outside to avoid the wait inside. DJ spins good music..nothing spectacular but good enough to get you moving. Not incredibly exclusive so good spot to go if you have a large group of men and women together.

ok. where should I start. first things first, the decor is great and impressive. the DJ was cool played decent mixes but some people might not like it. the place is small but nice. they have a patio but it gets very crowed it. The drinks are decent, some might consider it overprice for the quality. they have more than one bartender so I don't know if there all good because the drinks we got were ekkk, simply bad. Although we ask another bartender named Enrique he made our drinks and there were much better. sometimes the crowd can be one type but for the most part people are nice and friendly. Just keep in mind to get early, not too early to get a nice spot plus stay away from the speakers the music tend to be loud. And this is not a club is a lounge. Overall, is a nice place to hag out with friends.

Pros: great ambiance, no cover, casual, no-smoking
Cons: parking difficult, so-so drinks , gets very crowed

The first time it happened I thought is was an honest mistake, they swiped my card 4 times, then two days later I went there again, not at my choosing, and it happened again, this time they swiped it twice, Please if you do decide to go, which i would really discourage, do not use your credit card, they WILL overcharge you, and not by mistake. It makes me wonder how many people dont notice the overcharges. Management will not help you, i tried speaking to manager and nothing. He didn't even try to help me, he said to call my bank. They could have just voided the transaction. Now i have to wait about a week to get my money back.

After a decent brunch on a Sunday, we decided to give this place a try. We got to the door and the bouncer says he isn't letting more men inside. Usually I roll with a girl to guy ratio where this is not a problem but that day it was only me and one of my friends. Maybe that part we could see coming. My friend is not as patient as I am and he wanted to leave but I wanted to make sure that the bouncer was true to his word. I waited at the door and made sure that he did not let a single guy in the club before my friend and I were inside. Needless to say that sped up our entry because some of his "regulars" were starting to get annoyed. Once inside though, I was not impressed. The crowd was ok at best and the music was an awkward melange of house, techno, hip hop, salsa/merengue, and r&b in no discernible order. It really had no rhyme or reason. I am all for different types of music as long as the transition between songs and genres is smooth (not cacophonic). You won't get great music here but some of it will make you dance. Those of you, like me, who want some good hip hop and music in general, will be disappointed. Once again, not the friendliest places to young African American men but eventually they will let you in (hence the 2 stars) . . . Stay strong

Great for a party or a low-key drinking night or date, although it gets crowded and seating is 90% bottle-service. Outdoor access is a plus if you want fresh air, a break from the music, or a smoke. Bartenders are fast and hot. Easy place to stay until close. Everyone there is well-mannered and properly dressed. Cliques have a tendency to frequent there. Overall, it's worth checking out, and a decent fall-back location.

I do dj here, so I am biased.....but most my friends and people that show up to Deco on Fridays, usually end up there cause everything else around Houston has gotten stale.....

We have great bartenders, hot gogo dancers, and some of the best djs around....if you are looking for a fun mix of people on a friday night...stop by!

I loved the atmosphere here it's a very nice lounge, drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but hey it's midtown people get used to it. I found it to be a great place to relax the staff was friendly and i didn't have to wait hours for a drink.

I completely agree DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD AT DECO. I dont go to DECO very often- but the few times I have gone there has ALWAYS been a problem with over charging. At first I wrote it off as just being a simple mistake. However, the bar isn't crowded enough to where the bar tender is just so busy that they make mistakes. And it has happend more than once! If you want to avoid a headache- don't use your credit card, or just go to another bar/lounge! Beleive me- you won't be missing a whole lot by going somewhere else- I decided it's just not worth the headache!!

022108 I visted Deco w a group of friends, 3 different tabs among us. After a couple of drink requests it was obvious our server was out of her element; taking long amounts of time to return each order & there were less than 15 people. I requested to close my tab early. She returned with 2 checks; not 1 & informed me she didn't know how to process gift cards; gave her my debit card. We found out she was new to bartending. Not at all annoyed by that. We?ve all been new at one time or another & wanting for others to be patient & understanding. The server later came back to tell us she made a mistake. She claimed she placed my order on my on my friends? tab. On my drive home I remembered my receipt showing ?Up to $25 placed on hold? & I know my card # was on the receipt. What did she swipe my card for if she added my drink order to my friend?s tab? When I checked my account there were FOUR$25 items from Deco. Similar issues occurred with my friend's accts as well. 02/25/08 my coworker complained a bar overcharged her. It was DECO! Why didn't she tell me or apologize? There?s NO reason why 4 $25 items should be on my acct. I realize as a business Deco reserves the right to hold $25 for a $7 tab. I can understand making a mistake once, causing 1 $25 authorization, then processing the purchase correctly adding a 2nd $25. I don't understand making the mistake THREE times! This is my checking acct. A total of $100 has been on hold since Thurs & will remain on hold, unavailable to me to spend until Thurs of this week. What if I needed that money? What if I didn?t have the funds available? I could have balanced my acct responsibly & spent accordingly. My bank would charge me an insufficient fee for EACH item, regardless of whether or not those items were authorizations or purchases. Ultimately I would end up paying for a merchant?s mistake. I can?t believe that waitress would allow me to discover this mistake, instead of informing us. BEWARE of DECO and TAKE CASH!

Went here Saturday night with a group of girls and had a lot of fun. The place was moderately packed by the time we arrived (12:30-1:00). No problem getting in, the crowd was fairly diverse, mostly asians and indians. People were nice and I ran into alot of people I knew. Not much dancing going on, more of a lounge area.

This place is great - great music, lighting, decor, specialty drinks, etc. Lounge/Bar, but still enough place to dance. Usually there for HH on Thursdays and they have great prices on drinks and appetizers. We use to go to Cyclones down the street, but too expensive & I think they use everclear in their ritas, which always packed a *!@#$% the next morning. Fun, fun, fun...see you there.

ok, so that last reviewer must've not gotten any that night because Deco is nothing like what it says. Fridays can be very crowded and if it smells like curry, it's because it's indian night. hellooo, get to know your promoters! EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. there can be a line at the bathroom, but i'm there a lot (this is my choice club) and the line hardly every goes outside the bathroom. actually, the number of times i've been this summer, i've never once waited outside the door. not that many people smoke there. Most of the smokers go to the other patio that faces the street. plus, those that are smoking at the large patio by the dance floor, the ac pushes most of the smoke out. cold air is stronger than warm air - duh. the drinks are priced very similar to the rest of the bars in midtown. i've never had a bad time at deco and am actually having my birthday party there in a couple of weeks. if you're looking for a place with good music to have a great time, i think this is the place to be.

The drinks are overpriced, when the bartender told me $31 and some change for a shot and two drinks, my response was immediately, "I DON'T wanna leave it open..." when I handed him my card.

We finished our drinks and moved to the dance floor where many people who appeared underage or very young (similar to the crowd at Bond) were grinding on eachother. Of course, the dance floor was somewhat crowded because of the line for the bathroom that strung all the way out to the middle of the floor (just 2 stalls in the womens room).

Needless to say, this venue was small. And, even though it's "smoke free" except for the patio, the patio just off of the front door (that sits with all doors open all the time) extends no more than 4 feet out from the venue walls, so even the million people out there smoking aren't separated enough from those inside to make a difference. Also, this place smelled like curry.

I gave it 3 stars because the doorman was cute and polite and the location is great for wandering around midtown... and obviously I've been more than once. My favorite thing: their DJ is always fantastic!!

I must say being from Los Angeles and moving to Houston has been a big shocker. I had no idea how much I had missed the non-smoking of a lounge/ club till moving here. I'm telling you from experience that once you have experienced not smelling and feeling like you smoked a pack a cigarettes the next day when you know you don't ever smoke, then you will be happy to be in a smoke free lounge/club.

Deco was hot this last friday, lots of people and all just out to have a good time. So good I came back on Saturday to find an even better DJ and even more packed then the night before.

Great service and bartenders and they had like 30-something wines at $5 which I loved...

Thanks Deco your are a head of the rest...

I'm starting to become familiar with houston's night life after spending time in San Antonio as well as Austin.

I have to say I was pleased with deco. I agree with others that it's a great place to go with a group because it's got lost of cozy seating. However, I found it very easy to talk to other people (girls and guys) around the bar.

People are really friendly and the bartenders pay great attention to you. It started out empty and very chill around 10ish but around 11:30ish it started to get crowded. The music was better, more people were dancing and everyone became more social.

It's a great place to start your night off at however the energy picks up and eventually dies out. The drinks are yummy and I think decently priced. I had a great night there overall and hope yall check it out.

I brought a huge group of people to this bar this past weekend and was taken aback by how rude the people were there (with the exception of a few good bartenders). They made very rude comments about a girl that was in our party. They said that she should have never been in the bar in the first place. Who do these people think they are, the club is in a stripcenter!! They have no room to judge people. The worst thing about this place is that they hired the dj to spin house music, but then were trying to bully her into playing hip/hop. I'm not doggin hip/hop, but when you hire a dj to spin house, don't get mad when that's what she plays. And to top it off, they didn't even pay her for working at the end of the night. Great management!! I will continue to tell everyone I know that this club is horrible. If you are a dj, please don't ever spin here, they won't pay you!! They think that they are hot #%^$, but in truth, this bar may last two more months before they turn it into a Starbucks. I have worked in a lot of bars downtown and one thing you don't do is make a big group of people mad that are spending a lot of money in their bar. Whoever wants to continue going to this bar, go ahead, but you will be wasting your money when there are so many other bars that are way better than this one. And one more thing, if you valet your car, leave before 1:30 because the valet shuts down at 1:30 and your left to find your own damn car somewhere downtown, which isn't very safe at 2:00 in the morning for ladies by themselves.

This place is nice. Midtown, near BW3, with lots of street parking. Minimalist interior, lots of seating, and spacious bar. Good house DJ, spins mostly hip hop. No smoking, which is a definite plus, as well as no cover. Bartenders are fast enough.

Crowd varies and recently, has been dead on fridays. Saturdays are better. Highly recommended for a chill, relaxing night or a pre-drinking for another venue.

Some friends and I went on a Saturday night, and despite the good dj, the place was DOA. The decor is somewhat underwhelming - typical Houston minimalist-sleek with abit of a Pier One vibe thrown in. I can't get into strip-mall bars, so maybe I'm biased, but it wouldn't be a draw to me. Maybe this place is hotter on Thursday nights, but it got cobbered that night - we went elsewhere and found a good crowd. Now I know why they charged me $7 for valet parking - I didn't stay long to buy drinks. Careful about that - they don't charge you or tell you when you drop the car off. Overall, not a standout.

I was impressed with the decour, service, atmosphere and all around vibe. Although the clientel has changed and grown from opening night, the misses and I love popping in for a drink to people watch and listen to some great tunes from the live DJ. The non-smoking, no cover idea is great. We love that we can go in with minimal line, easily get a drink and just chill. Then head home with out a headache and not smelling of smoke. The free Champagne and for ladies on Sundays is a nice touch for after brunch as well.

The free Champagne and for ladies on Sundays is a nice touch for after brunch as well.

Pros: Non Smoking, No cover, Great tunes

Cons: Parking

The place had a very nice atmosphere, nice furniture and a large bar. DJ played good tunes and dancing. Lot of room allowed for personal space. Non smoking was key - felt considerably better the next day without the second hand smoke. Check it out.

The place was boring. The only reason the service was average was because nobody was in the place. It is just another copycat club.

Well I arrived in my reptile suit, and they said either untuck your shirt or take off your pants, so, I decided to take off my pants. Great place. I was able to get up on the tables and dance, and this was actually encouraged by the management and DJ Moons. Great place, will keep going and tell all my frat brothers.

Yesterday was my first day at Deco and certainly will not be my last. The service, atmosphere and drink specials couldn't be any better.

You might want to get there early because the parking lot gets packed.

Keep up the good work guys.

Pros: Attractive Ladies, Midtown, Laid Back

Nice, stylish chill atmosphere when there is not a modeling contest going on. The Dj was striking, the people where eye-catching and it was hard to believe that Deco is a coffee shop during the day. This seems to be the trend nowadays. A normal and tranquil cafe by day and an animated and energetic lounge bar at night. Do dress to impress here especially if you are a female....

Went last week Friday to hear DJ Sun. Great music, Great Vibe. I appreciate the no velvet rope no dress code idea, but I wish that some of the Midtown locals would show a little more self respect. This is a nice lounge not a frat party beach weekend. Other that a few patrons in shorts and plastic flip flops it might be the perfect bar. Smoking is only allowed on patio so bar does not smell like an ashtray. Thumbs up.

Out on a dinner date and was recommended to the 'newest of new' spots in trendy Midtown Houston - Deco. Didn't expect much being in a strip center, but this place is absolutely gorgeous! The staff was extremely friendly, the decor was exquisite, and the drinks were reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that this place actually doubles as a coffee bar during the day with wireless capabilities. Cool jazzy music from the DJ. If I could design the perfect date destination, this would be it! Non-smoking policy inside and smoking on the outdoor patio makes the place nice too. We'll definitely be back!
