I heard about these stores through my hospital class, and went there when I was having a difficult time breastfeeding. Their consultant was very reassuring and I saw that they have support groups for other new breastfeeding moms as well. I bought a nursing pillow there which has been my favorite, despite later receiving 2 others for free. They have a variety of clothing and equipment to help make nursing as convenient as possible. But be prepared for the prices - my pillow cost $75. It was very well made but definitely not something normally within my budget. I did not buy any clothes there for the same reason.

PROS: Very supportive atmosphere, great equipment and resources
CONS: Expensive

This is a great resource, especially during those first few weeks with a new baby. It is a second location for the store in Santa Monica, but they have the same lactation consultants and group leaders.

Lactation Consultants: I saw Wendy, who was great at being positive, supportive and non-judgemental when I was very sensitive and worried about my baby's health. Because of her advice, I was able to continue breastfeeding my baby.

Support groups: This is the key advantage of this place, the groups are great, full of other mothers going through many of the same issues, facilitated by a lactation consultant. (Though I found one of the facilitators to be somewhat inflexible -- really pushing some viewpoints on childrearing). Even if you don't attend one of the groups, the shop is full of other moms who give support and advice freely in a very positive way.

Store: As mentioned about the Santa Monica location, it is overpriced. They do have a great variety of nursing bras and clothing -- better than anywhere else I've shopped. Sure, you get more information and instruction on how to use the products (slings, pumps, baby clothing, etc), but it's not really worth the extra money if you can buy it elsewhere. But often, with a new baby, getting to one place is about all you can manage!

PROS: Supportive community, Great groups
CONS: Expensive store
