I travelled 250 miles to look at a 2008 Lexus ES 350. I was told on the phone before I came down that they were flexible on the price. I drove to Birmingham and entered the dealership. No sales person greeted me or even looked my way. The receptionists were friendly enough. While they were pulling the car around for me to drive it, I took it upon myself to go shake Jeremy's hand. He was polite, but didn't look terribly pleased to see me. \r
\r
I drove the car. The navigation computer did not work. The body was pretty dinged up. When I returned, I told Jeremy about the shortcomings in the car, but said that if we could get to a mutually acceptable price, we might be able to do business. He said, ""We're firm on the price,"" which was listed at $24,600, and which was directly contrary to what I had been told less than 24 hours earlier on the telephone. \r
\r
Jeremy went on to say, ""We've got a woman coming in this afternoon to buy that car, actually."" Great. Thanks for telling me so I wouldn't waste my time. So I said, ""Well, I guess you and I have been wasting our time here."" Jeremy replied, ""Well, I haven't been wasting MY time."" He didn't try to show me anything else; it was clear he wanted me out of his hair as quickly as possible. I obliged him, and left.\r
\r
I was shocked and insulted at this rudeness. After traveling four hours and 250 miles, I would have at least liked something on the order of, ""Gee I'm sorry, but this woman came in after you called, and we couldn't reach you....""\r
\r
By the way, I went right over to Highline Imports, and they were super to me, and sold me a Lexus THEY had, which was in much better shape. They made me a great price. Donahoo stinks!\r

STAY AWAY FROM DONO-BOOOOOOO!!!!! \r
Salesmen are one of the best B.S-ers.... Finally I was able to talk to Jay to give a little discount. He seemed to be professional enough and willing to work, rather just cutting short like several sales people did. Gave me the total, took $500 deposit on the card, charged my card, and he went on being absent from the office. I tried calling him for 3-4 days, leaving him voicemails and personal massages, but NO answer. Finally I was able to talk to someone else in the office, and they told me my car was sold to someone else. Holding on to my $500 deposit for several days, going on not returning my calls for a few days, and selling my car to soemone else.\r

Perfect way of doing business. you do the math!!!!\r

I purchased my VW from Donahoo and got a great automobile at a fair price. I was happy with the car and service we got, so I decided to take my car to the service department when it was time for an oil change. I had looked around and gotten several quotes from shops for prices on the oil change. I was happy to see that Donahoo was the lowest price at $34.95. Below is the actual copy and paste from their website:

Beetle, Jetta, & Passat ($34.95)
Oil Change
Inspect Brakes, Belts & Hoses
Top off vital Fluids
Transmission not included
Check exterior bulbs
Check Tire pressure

When I came to pick up my vehicle, I was shocked to have a bill for $69.72. I was charged $25.44 for oil, $15.60 for oil filter, $5 for shop supplies, and $20 for labor. Charging labor without warning or any notice is ridiculous and unheard of in the area of general maintenance with set pricing. I called several local shops which all told me the same thing. I will never take my vehicle back to them. I passed three shops that I could have used, but I went to Donahoo in good faith and because of the listed price on their own website. The service manager was of no help and acted like labor on an oil change was a common thing. It surely is not.

My husband and I purchased a 2008 BMW X3 from Donohoo last week and all I can say is WOW! The car was a steal of a deal and it runs like a dream. As stated in previous reviews, the sales approach takes some getting used to, because there really is no sales approach. The ""salesmen"" are really just drivers. You tell the receptionist which cars you'd like to see, and the ""salesman"" pulls the cars around so that you can take them for a drive. They do not ride with you, they do not negotiate, as a matter of fact, I don't think we ever said a word to our ""salesman."" When we were ready to do paperwork, we told the receptionist which car we wanted and from there we were directed to an office.
David did all of our paperwork, and I wasn't completely impressed with him, but he did a good job. He just didn't seem really excited to be there. And while I know that he does this everyday, there is an amount of enthusiasm you expect when you purchase a vehicle from a dealership. They should treat you as if they value your patronage. This was the only part of my experience that was lacking and to me, it was the least important. I got the car of my dreams at a fantastic price!

From Texas and bought a 2008 BMW from Donohoo and I could not be more pleased. The car is excellent, the buying process was excellent. I actually bought it sight unseen and trusted them and it worked out. I would buy from them again. There were no problems with these guys in fact it was the best car buying experience I have ever had. David and Nic were great. As well as that being excellent so was their administration paperwork side, the titles, the financing, etc They took care of everything. I would recommend them to anyone. Price was very good (no negotiating as thats the way they operate) and what was advertised is what I received. VERY pleased. Thanks Donohoo.

I live in Greenville SC. About 2 years ago, I had an extended stay in B'ham and found myself looking to purchase a car for our daughter. I found one at Donohoo. Before purchasing, my husband came to see the vehicle and the stopped in Atlanta to check autos there and do some price comparisons. The end result was Donohoo's price could not be beat. Since then, I returned to purchase a car for my son and on a whim, traded my car also. So in less than a year and a half, we purchased 3 cars from Donohoo. David has been our salesman every time, (I do not buy without David). I look forward to our next purchase from Donohoo. I cannot see us going anywhere else. They are definitely worth the drive! Service is incredible!

Too bad the other reviewer did not understand the business model. The staff is very upfront about the price of the vehicle. They advertise an extremely fair price so there is NO negotiating. Their advertised price is the bottom line. I drove 300 miles to buy a Lexus because it was a top notch vehicle at the best price in the southeast. I offered less than advertised via a phone conversation but a salesman explained their method of doing business and I said fine. It was still the best price. There are no pushy salespeople because they do not work on commission so everyone is willing to help you. Best car buying experience I have ever had and I am no spring chicken but I am an accountant!

Was in the market for a vehicle and found one online that was for sale at Donohoo Auto in Pelham, AL. I drove over to check out the car. The receptionist was very friendly, but the salesman was INCREDIBLY rude and acted like he didn't want to deal with me even after I made a cash offer on the vehicle to begin negotiations. He didn't even make a counter offer to get things going; he was very short and rude. I am a very pleasant, laid back person, and buying a car is incredibly stressfull. These people are NOT fun to work with and I took my business elsewhere. I would NOT recomment doing business at Donohoo Auto even to my worse enemies.
