Monday afternoon/evening I went with my daughters (3.5 and 5 years old) and they decorated a round, glass cake platter for Father's Day with hand prints, adding glass pebbles around the boarder and making flowers. They also wrote their names on a piece of paper, which I then slid under the platter and traced on the glass for them. It all involved some prep. work on my part (tracing their hands, cutting out the prints etc.) before the kids could get started. During this time when I had to focus, the owner was really sweet and kept them occupied, explaining what the different things in the studio were used for and at the end she showed them the ovens where the pieces are burned. I felt that we got 5-star service and the kids had so much fun (and so did I). We will definitely go back and I also want to plan a Mom's Night Out here with my girlfriends.

Our family had two enjoyable visits, fun for both sexes and children of varying ages. Nice staff. They probably could give a little more instruction to novices, it's pretty much trial and error. A plus is that the studio will contribute 10% to the nonprofit of your choice if the nonprofit advertises them on bulletin boards or in a newsletter, we have done this for Escondido elementary school in Palo Alto. We are trying it out for a birthday party next month and will write a review afterwards when we know how it goes.

My company just had its second corporate party here; we had a GREAT time. We brought 30 people and teh folks at Create It! had everything set up and ready to go. Several of our office mates made mosaics, and the rest did ceramics.
I would recommend this place again in a heartbeat! the selection is fantastic, the staff is really dedicated and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable.
I have come back to Create It! 3-4 times since our first corporate party, with friends and family. One night I came with my boyfriend and we shared a bottle of wine while painting mugs. Fun!
My company will be back again next year. Don't miss this place!
PROS: reasonable prices, peaceful environment, centrally located, great staff
CONS:

My daughter recently had her birthday party here; it was a wonderful experience. the staff was attentive and went out of its way to make the party work. Most of all, it was affordable, and they have a wide selection of things to paint. While I was waiting for my daughter's party to finish, I got started on a mosaic picture frame that I'll finish on a return visit.
One more thing, the poster that made a comment about a "$75 mug" must be mistaken. We painted mugs and salad plates for my daughter's birthday party, and neither item was more than $18. We looked at all the mugs, and the most expensive one was a large one, for $20.
PROS: Friendly staff, beautiful environment, affordable fun
CONS: make sure to call ahead for a table, to keep from waiting

I took my child here and she loved it! She had a blast all day long. She made about 10 pieces of pottery for the price of 3 at Color Me Mine. It's also great for birthdays!
5This paint-your-own pottery place is a nice way to spend the afternoon, if you are willing to pay for it. The staff is very nice and helpful, but the selection of pottery pieces to paint isn't as expansive as Color Me Mine in Menlo Park. However, this location also allows you to make mosaics, and it's less crowded than Color Me Mine.

Create It Ceramic and Mosaic Studio in Palo Alto is a great place to paint pottery and create mosaic pieces. My children and adult friends and I all enjoy creating gifts, home accessories and art pieces. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. They encourage your efforts and help when you're stuck. I highly recommend this unpretentions local venture for letting your creative juices flow!

On a rainy day when you're looking for things to do outside the house, this local business lets your kids become instant artists. Using pre-cast ceramic pieces (mugs, animals, plates, etc.), you just paint the design you want.
After it's been glazed in the kiln, you can pick it up a week later.
PROS: The kids get a lot of pride out of their work
CONS: You must buy their pricey pieces to paint.

they have a good selection of ceramic pieces and paints to use. tables and workspaces are kept clean. but you have to think of it as expensive hourly entertainment, or else it's just a $75 coffee mug.
