Dr. Fanslelau is an AMAZING doctor! I would say that all the previous reviews are her lacking bedside manner are false! She was recommended to me by my OBGYN when I was pregnant with my first son. Her office is far from our house and we were going to switch doctors after his initial visit, since we hadn't chosen a pediatrician before his birth. We liked her so much we switched insurances to ensure she remained our pediatrician and drive to her office! she is great with our son and at 3 months old he loves her! she is so good with him and patient. she makes me and my husband feel very informed and is always willing to take as much time as we need to address any concerns, she never rushes us. Her staff is great as well! they are all very professional, very courteous. all of her nurses are great with children. I have never experienced any of the behaviors described by others by her or her staff! truly an amazing doctor.

awful, arrogant, inconsiderate. I can't understand how someone that works in this field can lack empathy and care. She was incredibly rude. Needs to be taught a class on bedside manners because she sure missed it in medical school. What goes around comes around and I know someday when she seeks the help of others someone teaches a lesson.

Dr Fanselau has been our primary pediatrician since our children were born. We have three children ages 4 ,3 and 10 months old. First, the Arcadia office is NOT nice at all. It seems dirty and has a very "worn" appearance. There are few toys if any to play with and the staff are not friendly at all. It was MUCH better in the Pasadena office.

Secondly, I could not agree more with a previous reviewer in regards to Dr. Fanselau's treatment towards our other children. She is very attentive to the child that has the appointment, but she completely ignores and in one instance was downright rude to our other children when they are in the office with us. My son was being chatty with her as a typical 4 year old making comments about not wanting a shot even though we were there for the 10 month old and she turned to him and said "well, we are not here for you, are we so you can just be quiet now." The manner in which she said that comment really shocked us. We also spoke to her about our son being sick since she had previously prescribed an antibiotic that did not seem to be working while we were there with our daughter since she was sick as well and she was very short with us and it seemed like we were pulling teeth to get her to even talk about our son since he was not the one with the appointment.

All that being said, I do think that she does a great job when she is diagnosing and examining our children. I don't think I would recommend her since many doctors can diagnose children well and would have a much better bedside manner. Overall, I think she is a good doctor but she doesn't really care about her patents and isn't that just as important as a good physician?

Dr. Fanselau saw my 8 mo. old daughter when our primary pediatrician was out of the office. Dr. Fanselau quickly identified my daughter's ear infection and explained how to treat it and care for her. I was quite pleased with Dr. Fanselau's professionalism, knowledge, and personality. She was very friendly and took a few moments to let my daughter see her so she felt comfortable and at ease with her. I wouldn't mind having her as our primary pediatrician.

I took my son in to see Dr. Fanselau urgently as a new patient due to ear pain. When I called, I initially left a message and thought I would have to wait ages to hear back. On the contrary, a very professional nurse called me almost immediately. I was able to bring in not only my son, but my daughter as well. The staff was very warm and friendly to two poorly children. Dr. Fanselau was calm, professional and accurate in her assessment. The office offers free parking, Saturday appointments, as well as urgent no-appointment visits weekdays before 8:30. I was impressed and pleased to find this wonderful doctor.

We had seen Dr Fanselau while she was in the Pasadena office. She seemed professional and capable. Although she was never overly friendly, but professional at all times.
She changed offices over to the Arcadia office and my beef is not so much with her, but the office. I found them very unfriendly, we had to wait 50 minutes after our appointment time. The office is set up with bright lighting, uncomfortable chairs and not one magazine in the waiting room. The ladies at the front desk never offered a smile or a hello. My daughter touched a glass cube and got scolded in a very sharp tone - if you have a glass cube in a pediatric office - of course a child will touch it! We changed doctors, not because of Dr Fanselau, but because of the rude manner of her staff.
If she had stayed in the Pasadena office, we would have stayed there with no problems. However the difference between the two offices is night and day!

I would recommend Dr. Fanselau without hesitation! She is attentive, thoughtful, thorough with excellent bedside manner. My 3 year old daughter loves her, and often pretends to be Dr. Fanselau in her play. I have recommended her to friends and family - and all have been similarly satisfied!

As a child psychologist myself, I am very mindful of how a pediatrician interacts with children. I appreciate tremendously that Dr. Fanselau acknowledges and interacts with my child as an individual, with respect and kindness. She moves at a good pace, making my daughter feel at ease and comfortable. She takes time to answer questions, and I have found her to be responsive to concerns.

As for the staff, I have found them accessible and helpful. I have never had a problem getting last minute appointments when my daughter is sick, and have found the after hours on call service to be a valuable resource.

I have had Dr. Fanselau find things that other doctors have missed even after I have told them that my daughter has certain issues. Once her elbow popped out of joint, nursemaid's elbow, and I told the doctors at our emergency and they missed it. For 22 hours my 3 year old was in pain when it wasn't necessary. This is a regular thing for my daughter. Another time 3 doctors missed the fact my daughter had severe eczema. On our first visit with Dr. Fanselau she looked in my daughter's diaper and told us that my daughter had eczema and no she did not have to be sent to Children's Hospital for it like I was told by the last doctor. She has explained all about allergies and what we needed to do. How to use a nebulizer, a pulseox and a stethescope is now our normal day as our daught has severe allergies too. We treat our daughter like a normal child but we know what to look for and try not to panic. we never would have known what to do without Dr. Fanselau. She has been friendly, polite, informative and wonderful to our family. We don't do anything without her advice first. We didn't know if our daughter could do sports or even go to regular school because of her allergies and Rads. Our daughter has done cheerleading, ballet, tap, gymnastics and now is in t-ball. She is an active first grader and only had one reaction to food this year where before it was alot. Thank you Dr. Fanselau.

Overall we are disappointed with the practice, even with Dr.'s that saw our children when Dr. Fanselau was not available. Dr. Fanselau ultimately refused to treat my son. We found her to behavior unprofessional.

Dr. Fanselau is outstanding. On a Saturday afternoon, over a Thanksgiving Day weekend, she made a house call at approximately 6:00 p.m. to examine my then one year-old son who was experiencing labored breathing. When efforts to manage his breathing problems appeared inadequate, she admitted him to the hospital. His condition improved, but he was ultimately diagnosed with asthma. I hold her in exceptionally high regard. My brother-in-law (who is a physician) was visiting us for the holiday, and he was greatly impressed by her medical skill and willingness to make a house call on a holiday weekend. She's outstanding.

Dr. Fanselau was my daughter's pediatrician since birth. I always found her to be thoughtful, thorough, and gentle. The other pediatricians in the office are also quick to help out and double check things if there is ever a question. Someone can always be reached after hours, and I never had a problem getting last minute appointments when necessary.

The office is kept clean, there is a separate place for well and sick patients, and I always found the nurses to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They talked me through many a concern and saved me several unnecessary visits.

I recommend both this practice as a whole and Dr. Fanselau without reservation. I wish we still lived in CA - my daughter would still be happily in her care.

Dr Fanselau has now been our pediatrician for just over 6 months and both my husband and I couldn??t be happier. Before going into the hospital to give birth to our daughter we had decided that we were going to take our baby, June, to our family doctor. After giving birth we discovered that June developed a moderate case of Jaundice; we were assigned a doctor to watch over her in the hospital as she recovered from what we considered a scary illness (we now know it is very common). The Doctor the hospital assigned us was Dr Fanselau. The instant the Doctor entered the room we knew June would be in good hands. She was warm, loving and easy going and helped us both feel more at ease with the situation. After interacting with Dr Fanselau at the hospital we knew we had to have her as our pediatrician. Since being at the hospital we have gone to the Doctor 4 times and every appointment has been a great experience. My favorite comment Dr Fanselau makes when she??s examining June is? ??beautiful, beautiful?. She makes me feel that June is her favorite and most important patient. Like I said before, my husband and I are extremely happy and will continue to use Dr Fanselau as our pediatrician for June and any children we have in the future.

Dr. Fanselau has been our pediatrician for nearly five years. In that time we have seen her countless times as is the syndrome of new parents. Every single time we have brought our girls to her she has been the single most caring and thorough doctor we have known. She has excellent bedside manner and is proactive when it comes to the well being of our children. We have lost count of the weekends calls to her for ear infections, chronic constipation, whooping cough, stomach flu, etc. During a more serious event she called in many colleagues to consult and as a result brought about successful and non-traumatic resolution to the problem. We have referred a number of our friends to Dr. Fanselau and they too have been on the receiving end of quality health care at the hands of a consumate professional, a tender yet firm practitioner and a partner in one of Pasadena's most respected pediatric practices.

My daughters have been patients of Dr. Fanselau since birth. She is a very competent, knowledgeable, and compassionate pediatrician. She is always on time for appointments, makes herself available after office hours, and really takes her time to thoroughly examine all aspects of her patients. Her calm and caring disposition is one of the many terrific attributes of Huntington Medical Foundation. The time she takes to really listen and get to know her patients and parents, demonstrates her genuine love for what she does. The fact that both of my daughters love to go to the doctor is true testament to the fact that Dr. Fanselau is a stellar MD!

We have been extremely disappointed with our experience with Dr. Fanselau. We quite frankly have been surprised by this, as the Legault pediatric practice had been highly referred to us by many.

Over the course of a year, we had some serious health issues with our son that has required a specialist, since we have an HMO, everything goes through Dr. Fanselau, so she has been fully aware of what has been going on since day one.

While all of this was going on, I was noticably pregnant with my second child. We saw Dr. Fanselau three times while I was pregnant and yet she never made any comment or asked a single question about when my baby was due or even what I was having. I was a bit surprised by this considering she was our family pediatrician and would be the doctor for this baby as well.

When my daughter was born it was a Friday, and we were instructed by the hospital to have her seen by our family pediatrician the following Monday to have her jaundice level checked. It was slightly elevated, not enough to keep her in the hospital, but enough that they wanted it monitored.

When we took my daughter in for her appointment, my son went with us and played in the room while Dr. Fanselau examined her. Dr. Fansealu made no effort to greet my son or even ask us how he was doing or if any progress had been made with his medical condition?she completely ignored that he was there. I mentioned that we had gone to the recommended specialist and that we were being referred to an endocrinologist. Her reply was not that she was pleased that progress was being made with him, it was directed back at me that I should be sure to not miss any of my daughter's well baby visits so we can catch this type of thing earlier.

We have not missed any of my son's well baby visits and I had mentioned this problem at EVERY appointment with her. She was the one who was not concerned and said he would grow out of it by age 2!

Dr. Fanselau told us that we would need to have blood taken from my daughter to check the billirubin levels. I asked whether I should call to find out the results, she said that she, or someone from her office would contact us regarding the results. No one ever contacted us regarding the results, and it greatly upsets me that my daughter had to endure that painful procedure at 3 days old and no one even followed up with us.

We returned to Dr. Fanselau for my daughter's 2 month appointment and again my son went with me. Once again, Dr. Fansealu didn't even acknowledge that my son was in the room--there was no hello to him or any inquiry of me as to how he was doing even after we had some serious complications that required an emergency visit to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, a visit that she was fully aware of--she still completely ignored the fact that he was there.

I don't expect Dr. Fanselau to be over exuberant or bubbly, but to be a pediatrician and to not even greet or acknowledge another child in the room is just rude; let alone when that child is one of your patients AND that child has had some serious medical issues. How can she just ignore that child?

We have since switched pediatricians and will not be returning to this practice. I have never received such a poor level of care from any doctor. How sad it is that a pediatrician has so little interest in the lives and well being of her patients. I would NOT recommend this doctor to any one.

We have been going to Dr. Fanselau's practice for about 2 years and it is growing quite a bit. But we can usually get in with a sudden illness relatively quickly and the staff are all very nice and attentive.
The practice has many doctors, we have been asked to see other doctors in the practice if Dr. Fanselau was ill or we had to come in suddenly - that is a definite advantage. But getting camp forms signed took over a week - it gets put to the bottom of the pile.

PROS: Easy to get in - many doctors, very attentive
CONS: Practice is growing - some of the non-medical stuff isn't a priority
