My husband and I chose the Lion House for our reception because of the great location and the beauty of the building. We were very satisfied with the service that was provided and how caring the employees were. The only thing that was confusing for our guests was parking, although we did indicate where to park in our invitations. We were fortunate enough to have our reception in the Garden Room on a beautiful evening and our guests really enjoyed being at the Lion House too. I did not feel that the prices were very high, but that will also depend on how many guests you have and the catering menu.

This is wonderful for large weddings. The pictures you can get there are beautiful. I went there for a cousins wedding/ They have incredible chefs who prepare all sorts of great food - makes a wedding very easy. There are all sorts of recipe books for the Lion House - their food is famous!

PROS: Great Food, Makes Weddings Easy and great pictures
CONS: Not really fancy - just old and elegant - depends on your tastes

I can stop her simply for the rolls alone but all the food is delicious. They are set up cafeteria style but everything I have tasted is worth eating again. The food is traditional home made. Food that you would imagine your grandma made. The prices are reasonable and it is not difficult to find.

The food here is excellent. People love the food so much that they have come up with a Lion House cook book. The things that I think are the best are the rolls and the desserts. The rolls are world class. I don't think I have ever had better rolls. The best dessert is the Lion House Cheesecake. I would reccomend this place.

PROS: Great Food
CONS: none

There's a reason that the Lion House has it's own local bestselling cookbook.... they have FANTASTIC food. It's a bit more expensive than your regular fare (not much more) but the quality of the food is absolutely excellent. A lot of their recipes have been handed down since the 1800's... and they've withstood the tests of time. Great food, great environment, you won't be disappointed.

Lion House has great food and the bread is to die for. WE had a grooms dinner there and they have a nice big room to seat many people. There was a miscommunication (I'm not sure on whose part), but they thought they were supposed to serve us an hour and a half early. They were very professional about the mistake and the food was still amazing. You couldn't even tell that they weren't planning on the right time the whole time.

The Lion House serves some of the best food around. The prices are on the higher side, but the food is worth it! Really good rolls, meat and salads - a fabulous meal anytime. You can pick up an order of rolls for the holidays or have a luncheon there. The food is always great. Selection is rather limited, but it's usually roast beef or chicken dishes.

The service was slow and the food was cold. There is too much hype about the rolls. They were cold. The 'home cooked' food was tough and bland. (I don't remember my grandma cooking this way). This is a very touristy place.

I take my in-laws from Palo Alto, CA here all the time when they py a visit to SLC--this is their kind of food. Home cookin. The salmon, trout, various chicken dishes are all worthy as are side dishes such as the rice and veggies. The salad is a bit too "ice bergie" for my tastes but the other veggie dishes, like the sauteed beans or corn, more than hold their own with the entrees. Go for two homemade rolls (legendary in SLC) if you're a bread eater like I am--these are some of the best you'll ever taste, seeing as how they're from scratch. Although there is no beer, a Martinelli's Sparkling cider more than quenches the thirst. Definitely consider ending the meal with some homemade berry pie (or chocolate cream). Overall, the Lion House is a can't lose if you like home cookin' style food. Nothing too fancy, mind you, but it's almost like eating at grandma's house.

PROS: Many great selections on any given day/night
CONS: no alcohol served

For a cafeteria, the food here cannot be beat. Salmon is the thing here (make sure they have it, call ahead). Home made pies. Home made rootbeer. This is an institution, not to be missed. Outstanding (when they have the salmon)!

This is a charming, unique eatery hidden right in the heart of Salt Lake. It is open for lunch and dinner, cafeteria style (don't let that fool you - the food is excellent). Try their homemade pies, and of course their own brand of root beer - eat out on the patio in the back on a nice day and you wouldn't know you were in the heart of a big city.
Take home some of the specialy breads or candies they sell at the counter. Highly recommended!!
