This place is awful.... I came in with a broken foot. The doctor examined my foot and said she wanted to do tests to rule out RA or lupus. Even after the xray confirmed my foot was broken she still insisted on a half dozen tests to rule out any other issues. After the test came back clear she emailed me to say i was fine but there was no other treatment plan. There was NO discussion about how long recovery would take and when i did ask she sent to to a specialist who said "Yep - your foot is broken. Wear a brace and rest for a few weeks".

It took me 3 tries to find a primary care doctor that I clicked with, which could have happened anywhere. She really listens and makes me feel like a human being, not just a patient.

I love the fast, easy parking. I love not getting lost, as I do at the Palo Alto Clinic. I love the fast in-and-out of the Xray department. The waiting room for the lab is much more pleasant than at the Palo Alto Clinic, but both labs tend to be slow. Los Altos has more, better magazines. Los Altos is roomier, and I enjoy seeing lots of trees and plants on the grounds instead of the concrete at Palo Alto.

Los Altos handles routine things, so I do go to Palo Alto for Urgent Care and more specialized things. Los Altos deserves 5 starts for its size, but its smallness does limit its ability to offer full services.

The Palo Alto Branch of the PAMF is a wonderful clinic but if you can avoid the Mt. View branch I would avoid it. T

The response time when you call the Mt. View branch is abysmal (and dangerous if you have an urgent, painful or emergency situation). The average wait time it takes until you are connected to an operator there is 5 minutes, and in the past year it has not been unusual to wait for more then 10 minutes. It's a known problem (and a dangerous one), which they continually tell you has been corrected --- but it continues.

The Palo Alto branch of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation connects you to an operator usually within seconds. There's no excuse why the Mt. View branch can't do that.

The assistants to the doctors that I've come in contact with (and I can only speak about those few), are not only inept and unprofessional, but they have such a dour and uncaring demeanor, they're the last people you want to be around when you're not feeling well.

If you have a choice, I really would advise avoiding the Mt. View branch of the Palo Alto Medical Clinic -- other then for routine tests. But if you're looking for an efficient and professional staff, go to Palo Alto.

PROS:
CONS: Phone wait time is very bad; some Dr's assistants very unprofessional

The docs we have seen here are all very good, and the front office is well-organized and courteous. Less crowded than the main PAMF in PA and often easier to deal with.
