Montgomery's Baptist health system extends from Montgomery to Prattville. Baptist South contains the hospital, diagnostic centers, Meadhaven and physician offices. My experience has been overall positive, especially in the hospital nursery. I have also had positive experiences with the staff ant the diagnostic centers. All in all a well maintained organization.

This is an older hospital, but a family member received great care as an inpatient. He was hooked up with the best doctor in the city to diagnose his condition.Only problem, like most medical facilities is that the wait times for procedures was very long.

Our first child was born at Baptist South. We were also over there pretty frequently for doctor's visits, until so many of our doctor's opened new offices over near Baptist East. They did one thing that got under my skin right after my child was born. I had been with my wife during her c-section. After they were ready to move my child to the nursery, the nurse told me to come with her. After we walked out of the delivery ward, we stopped and introduced my new daughter to her grandparents, who were out in the waiting room. We then walked down to the nursery and as we reached those big double doors the nurse turned to me and said that they would have my child out in the front part in a little bit. She then continued on in trough the double doors...I was now outside of the delivery area and outside of the nursery area, with no way to enter in either. I was a little disappointed, but after some time, I was allowed to go back into the recovery area where my wife had been moved too. I do understand some of the reasoning (though at Baptist East, the nurses will allow you to go with them into the nursery and they prep your baby out front for other family members to be able to see as well), I just wish someone had informed me prior too it being done, so that I would not have been just left standing there in my "scrubs" looking dumb founded!! The service provided to my wife and daughter was good during their short stay. The room was a little older, but it served it's purpose. Parking is the big downside to this hospital, especially from a visitor's perspective (and the main reason I am glad the doctor's are moving out by Baptist East). I would just suggest good walking shoes and some patience because you likely will need it!! The doctors and nurses have always been attentive, caring and professional anytime we have either been in or visiting a patient at Baptist South. It is a large hospital and the staff, once you find where to ask, can usually point you in the right direction.
