This is a warning to anyone thinking of getting care at LONGMONT UNITED HOSPITAL, you might be risking your life. Example, Went to ER over a kidney stone, I have a long history of stones and know very well what to expect as one travels through the urinary tract to leave my body. Went in in a high level of pain, explained that i needed to know if i was able to pass the stone because it had been in my bladder for a couple months irritating me, unwilling to leave. I know how to care for my stones, so I did do well to keep myself from getting infected, went in mainly to confirm the size of the stone was passable since earlier in my life I had a blocked kidney, was not wanting to go through that experience twice. Never the less the er ordered a CAT, came back neg on stone, told me that i was merely irritated. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and received a prescription for oral pain killers (that I cant take) no injection or IV for dehydration or extreme pain. Just sent home. Four days later I passed a .5 cm stone, even took pics of it, called the patient advocate, had them reread cat scans, they still couldnt find it. HOW COULD THEY MISS A .5cm stone?????? If it had blocked me I could have went toxic, I have no intention of ever returning to that meat factory. Advises everyone to avoid this "hospital" and anyone associated with it. You could be saving your life, or the life of a loved one. Malpratice is a killer, don't be a victim, stay away from Longmont United Hospital.

BILL PADDERS - DON'T TRUST THIS HOSPITAL

Went to this hospital for a sprained ankle. They told me I needed a tetanus shot as part of "routine care". Told them I didn't want one. They convinced me that though I didn't need it for my sprained ankle, it was just something they were doing as a precaution for everyone. I didn't NEED a tetanus shot. I hadn't cut myself on metal. They prepared the shot before I even had a chance to say no. CHARGED ME $570 FOR that tetanus shot that would have cost less than $50 at my doctor's office. Did they tell me it was going to cost that much before they shoved it on me? NO! Did they let me refuse a treatment that I didn't need for my injury? NO! This is a scum hospital out to exploit patients at every step through padding the bill on unnecessary treatment which they charge usury rates for. They have a high incidence of giving people heart scans and needing to do them twice because the first one didn't "work out". An 60% more than normal rate of incidence. DON'T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. This is the sort of hospital that is ruining health care for the entire country. When there is an natural disaster emergency like a hurricane and some store owner triples the rate for water or generators, the feds come down on them. When you go to Longmont Hospital and they lie about what treatments you need and then charge you 1000x the normal rate and you have no choice in the matter, it's OK? There is a reason several floors on this hospital are now vacant. They are bilking patients and everyone is going elsewhere....me included. I will drive out of town before I throw this place another single dollar. Hope that $500 bucks was worth loosing thousands and thousands of business over. But who cares right? Who cares if you're jerks as long as you're rich jerks.

Drive the extra 10 min to Boulder!!!

I have unfortunately had several dealings with LUH. 3 out 4 have been horrible!!! I have asthma and suffered an attack and was admitted. I was supossed to receive breathing treatments every four hours around the clock, which did not happen. I had to beg them for them and I only ended up receiving 2. They released me, still wheezing, no "at home" instructions, etc. The other times I have been to the ER the Male Doctors are less than caring. I went in with some women issues and he released me with a lecture and no help for my pain or telling me what was wrong. Well I have to have a hystorectomy for endometreosis. This last time takes the cake. I am a chronic pain patient and I had a dental procedure done and was in excruciating pain, and a fever. I have been taking anitbiotics for aweek and felt like I was dying. I begged him for a blood test to see how bad the infection was, he refused. Then he gave me a shot of novacaine right near the incision and it threw me the roof, I screamed so loud and almost passed out. He then acted like all I wanted was pain medication. I told I don't want pain medication, its NOT working!!! I want the infection gone and he did nothing. I walked out of there as bad as I walked in. I told my husband if I were to die from this infection he better sue that hell hole. I should be able to get a freaking blood test!!!! and some antibiotics that will work. I wonder how they would feel??? So Please don't go there they only care about money, not about patients! I'm seriously thinking of moving to a different town, where incase I have an asthma attack I won't be forced to go there. STAY AWAY!!!!!

When my husbands grandmother fell and broke her hip we brought her to the emergency room at Longmont United Hospital. The staff there was efficient and friendly, and though she had problems with her stay, the service was not one of them. My husband was also born here, and I work with many at the Hope Cancer Care Center, and every experience has been a great one. The new remodel is beautiful.
