My Boyfriend and I was looking to spent some fun time and we stopped by this place. Actually it was a new experience for both of us. We found the place just when we walked near the place. Both of were excited with the experience that was waiting for us. However, the first impression was not good at all. The three people standing right at the entrance were cold and with a not welcoming faces. Everyone was talking to the other and like they did not see us, in the case that we were the only ones entering their place. Servers were friendly and prices were high for the amount that they were representing. At the end we figured it out that the the person who asked our name to find a place was the manager for the night that surprisingly did not have the behavior of a manager who should provide a great customer service.

Fondue is a fun experience -- one to be shared with friends. Even tho "Melting Pot" is part of a chain, they still deliver decent fondue. 3.5 stars for the Fondue, and 4 stars for the service.
I took my brother and his family. My nephews were uncertain what to expect at first, but once they tasted the fondue, they were hooked.
Drawback: It's EXPENSIVE (but fine for special occasions.) I deducted 1 star for the high prices.

My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary here. At first i wasnt sure about this place. It smelled kind of funny when i first walked in and the host took forever to seat us even with a reservation

However, the food turned out to be pretty good. The food and the cheese are made table side as well as the chocolate. We had a fun and very attentive server (allen) which greatly added to our over all experience.

I recommend it for anyone looking for a fun night out!

Maybe I'm a little biased, after living in CT which had this FANTASTIC fondue place downtown. So when I saw this restaurant in my new community, I was thrilled. But like a lot of the other posters, I was disappointed by the actual food. We had I think-- about 4-5 little tiny carrot chunks on our plate, to dip. I could make a better fondue with hardly any effort at home, by just raiding the vegetable drawer. More effort would make this place amazing, but as it is-- go somewhere else, or stay home!

You cook your own food at this contempary, swank place, so it can be pretty adventurous for some. It's pretty healthy because of the way you cook your food that is neatly prepared for you to cook, basicly low boiling/simmering in a fondue. It was kind of fun and definitely different. It was still considerably pricy considering that I still had to cook my own food. Overall, it was very enjoyable.

I read all of these reviews before I took my husband for his birthday. I was a little nervous because of the bad reviews, but I had already told him where we were going and he was really excited.

I have to say, it was wonderful. The food was great and I am a foodie. The service was really good, not too much and not too little. The wine selections were nice and well, I am very glad we went.

The only thing I would have changed is next time I am going to wear looser pants, because I was so full of yummy and delectable food.

So, if you are interested. Try it. Be open to the experience and enjoy.

the melting pot was a very romantic place and the food was delicious. the first time i went there the waiter was very friendly and talked about his job working here and all. the food was a little pricey but we lived through it. i absolutely adored and loved the chocolate they had. you don't have to buy the entrees but if you happen to come buy try the chocolate.!<3

The food was good and the service was Very Slow!!!!!!! It seemed the waiter knew his tip was already included in the bill so therefore he felt like he did not have to work at all. It was difficult to even get a refill on our waters. It was not worth my money at all!!!!!!!!!! And if you get a server named Ryan BE AWARE.

My girlfriends and I decided to check out the Melting Pot on Friday and had the worst experience ever. Upon entering, we were "greeted" by Michael (the same manager and vice president of operations from the post below me). I say "greeted" because it was quite the opposite. He stared us down and spoke condescendingly because we did now know we needed reservations since we had never been there. Michael rudely told us that we needed reservations and didn't offer to make it for later that night until we asked if he would. We then made reservations and came back two hours later five minutes before the time of the reservation. He was still in a horrible mood towards us. We felt a racial prejudice from him because he didnt treat other customers of different races the way he treated us. When I asked him when we would be seated and promptly responded letting me know that it was 10:05. I didn't recall asking for the time. I had asked him what time we would be seated because I needed to run downstairs but he didn't respond. He was very dry and unwelcoming. When we got to our table our server got our order and didnt come back the rest of the night to see if we needed anything. We had to ask other waiters to call our waiter the entire night. The food was okay. It was nothing special. The waiter then brought out check without asking if we wanted anything else. We figured since we were a group of 6 and gratuity was already included in the bill, it didnt matter to the waiter if he helped us out or not. This location of the melting pot is horrible. I will never ever go there again.

Ok, we heard about this place on tv. SO, I researched some reviews to see if it was right for us. I read the review below that gave only 1 star.... So, I was hesitant. BUT my girlfiend wanted to go really bad so we went. We got there 5 minutes early and were seated before our reservation time. Heres a note to the guy below: When you make a reservation.... GET THERE ON TIME! Why would you make a reservation if you dont plan on arriving on time, if not early?

I am very familiar with Pasadena. WHy would you park by Hooters when you can park in the structure RIGHT BEHIND the Melting Pot? That is probably why she told him to not park there (because there is a structure a few steps away from the back elevator entrance.

Food is great, atmosphere is dark and ramantic, service is great. I didnt meet a Michael, but the host staff I did meet was very nice. I doubt he said all those things though.

This place is THE BEST in Pasadena. Great if you are tired of the same old burger or steak joint. Check it out and get there on time! haha duh

We had heard about the Melting Pot style of dinning and thought it would be a fun and romantic way to celebrate our anniversary. We downloaded a map from Mapquest based on the address we were given by the hostess that took our reservation. Parking is extremely difficult in this area of Pasadena but we managed to find parking in a nearby parking garage. We walked from the parking garage to the address the hostess gave ??88 Colorado Blvd.? Unfortunately, the address was 88 E. Colorado Blvd., a shoe store next to Hooters. Since it was just a few minutes before our scheduled reservation we quickly called the Melting Pot via cell phone to let them know we were somehow lost. The hostess that answered the phone said, ??Oh you are probably in front of Hooters. It happens all the time. Our address is 88 West Colorado Blvd.? My wife asked how far it was from where we were standing to the Melting Pot and could we just walk from where we were. The hostess said, ??No, it??s too far. You??ll definitely have to drive.? We asked if they could hold our reservation until we drove to the location and she said she could only hold the reservation for ten minutes.

We drove west as instructed and in less than 150 yards we see the Melting Pot and wonder why the hostess would tell us it was too far to walk. It was literally a mere 150 yards and parking is very bad in downtown Pasadena. We were pressed for time so I pulled up in front of the Melting Pot so my wife could run in and secure our reservation while I searched for a place to park once again.

When I arrived I asked her why they wouldn??t hold the reservation since the address the hostess gave was incorrect and she also told us we would have to drive to a place that is only 150 yards from where we were. My wife told me she tried to explain that to the manager but he said wee should have planned our evening better. I asked my wife if the manager was able to give a time frame as to when we might get a table. She told me that the manager didn??t have a very friendly attitude when she asked and sternly told her, ??I don??t know.?

We were hungry and looking forward to celebrating our evening but if it was going to take an hour or more to be seated it just wouldn??t be worth the wait. We didn??t feel our tardiness was our fault and if we could get a rough estimate of when we might be seated we could make a decision about whether or not to stay or come back another time. Since my wife felt uncomfortable with the manager and intimidated I decided to ask the manager if he had any estimate of when we might be seated. I approached to manager at the front desk. There were numerous customers on a couch just a few feet from us waiting to be seated. I gave him my name and told him we had a reservation for 7:00pm. The manager condescendingly said, ??Oh, you??re FINALLY here at 7:45.? I said, 7:45. My wife already checked in with you at about 7:15pm and we??ve been in the bar for the last 15 to 20 minutes. Again, in a very condescending and argumentative way he said, ??No I have 3 witnesses that saw her check in at 7:25pm.? I told him I wasn??t really interested in arguing with him about the exact second we arrived, I just wanted to know if he could give me a rough estimate of how long it might be before we could be seated and he said, ??No, I DON??T.? I tried again and saying, I??m not asking for an exact time, I??m just trying to get an estimate so we can decide whether or not to wait. The manager replied, ??The longer you keep talking to me the longer it will take. Maybe you should have planned your evening better?. At that point I had enough of his attitude and told him that he was very rude and condescending. I also told him that I didn??t think the Melting Pot Company would condone this type of attitude and treatment of customers. Not to mention doing it in front of numerous other patrons. The manager??s reply, ??Maybe you shouldn??t be dinning with us this evening? as he pointed toward the door. I agreed and asked for his name and the name of his supervisor. He said, ??My name is Michael and I am the supervisor. I??m the Vice President of Southern California Operations.?

I felt as if Michael was only interested in arguing and humiliating customers that asked questions. Perhaps he had a bad day or his mother didn??t hug him enough when he was a child. I don??t know. What I do know is, his customer service and interpersonal skills are very poor to say the least.

When I was younger someone once told me, ??When a customer is treated well he tells 10 people. When he is treated poorly he tells 20.? I can assure you I will tell far more than 20 about the Pasadena location.

This is a great place for couples. Make a reservation before you go there. The service was excellent and the food was too. The menu was a little confusing, especially for those of us who do not eat fondue on a regular basis, but the servers are very helpful and eager to explain. It's a great restaurant.

my sister and i went to this melting pot location last night. the service was pretty quick although at one point in time i wanted to tell the bus boy to just leave us alone-- seriously my water doesn't need to be filled EVERY time i take a sip. but they do have a fun atmosphere and good food. the location in old town Pasadena is very convenient as well. they have valet right in front which i think is either free or very discounted if you eat at melting pot. make reservations because it can get busy.

Our family is scattered in the four counties, so several times a year we meet, eat and catch-up. Recently we met at the Melting Pot in Pasadena. Most restaurants want to turn over the table after an hour or so and we always feel pressured to cut our visit short or be rude and keep the table.

Not at the Melting Pot. It takes about 2-1/2 hours to eat. Which is perfect for our family, we like to talk and have fun. The designers were really smart, not only is the dcor elegant, the noise level is low. We could actually hear each other without shouting. Our large round high back booth felt very private. We dipped, cooked, munched and talked to an endless procession of great food.

Our server was friendly, attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable which is important given the wide variety of food and flavor choices.
We ordered the Big Night Out. WOW. This is definitely not your parents fondue. No Avocado green or orange fondue pots, stinky sterno or rancid oil here.

Our four course meal had an absolutely wonderful variety of food, starting with Spinach and Artichoke Cheese fondue followed by a choice of fresh salad. The main course was a tray filled with lobster tail, filet, Ahi, steak, chicken, endless vegetables, pot stickers, ravioli and homemade dipping sauces. Just when our tummies were feeling pretty good, bango out comes this amazing Rocky Road Chocolate fondue, with big fresh strawberries, an assortment of bite size pieces of cake and our chocoholic taste buds were in seventh heaven.

We had a fabulous experience. I hardily recommend The Melting Pot Pasadena when you want to mix good company with great food.

PROS: Romantic quiet decor, friendly helpful staff, really good food

I went here to treat my boyfriend. We got the special four course meal that is for two i think it is called a night out. You get a cheese apetizer fondue followed by your choice of salad. Then you get an assortments of meats, and vegtables that you get to cook to your liking in a broth, which you get to choose. Then you choose a chocolate fondue for dessert. I recommend getting mostly fruit on the dessert plate. This place is so delicious and fun, the prices are steep so I would only go there for special occasions or maybe an appetizer and drinks. Also you have to split stuff so make sure you go there with someone who has similar tastes. Highly reccomended.

PROS: atmosphere, food, experience, something different
CONS: price, have to share

I had eaten at a Melting Pot fondue restaurant many, many years ago, and had quite fond memories of the experience. So when I found out one opened in Pasadena, I was eager to give it a try. I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint.

First off, this restaurant has great ambiance, especially for a couple sharing a romantic dinner. Most of the restaurant is lit for "mood" and if you're lucky, you can score a seat in one of the cozy booths. Our server, Matt, was excellent; personable without being intrusive.

For those familiar with Japanese Shabu Shabu, think that with a distinctly European flavor...literally, as a couple of the "cooking styles" incorporate the use of wine. There's plenty to choose from, starting with a variety of cheeses accompanied by bread and vegetables, then the main "entrees" with an assortment of meats and seafood to choose from, and of course, a fantastic selection of chocolate fondue with fruits, cakes and marshmallows. We had the seafood "Big Night Out" and it was more food than we expected, or maybe I was just saving room for the dessert, which was a white chocolate fondue with amaretto... simply delectable.

This would be a great restaurant to go to after a night on the town with friends and you're looking for a place to satisfy that late night sweets craving, as it stays open pretty late for Pasadena standards.

I'd suggest making reservations ahead of time, as turnover is not as fast as typical restaurants. We spent about three hours going through an entire four course fondue meal.

As for price - be prepared to pay a little more than your typical dinner at Denny's, as fondue is not cheap. However, I think it's worth it. And besides, it's not something you'd be eating every night anyway, although I'm sure they wouldn't mind. I personally think that everyone should try this unique dining experience at least once.

PROS: Unique experience, great ambiance
CONS: Moderately expensive, parking in Old Town Pasadena
