I was transferred to Dr Spooner after Dr Corsini left, and when she left I followed. I think she is the most attentive almost feels like she has integrated some easternized medicine in with her Western training. Great Dr. Caring Dr. and very happy to have found her. I moved down here in 2001 and this was a real jewel to find in the Rough!

Dr. Spooner is indeed a rare find. She prioritizes talking through concerns with patients, and has spent a considerable amount of time with me each time I've visited. I'd recommend her very highly.

Although the reception area is clean and comfortable, the office staff detracted from the atmosphere as they were rude and unprofessional in their phone conversations and openly complained about other patients. Expect a long wait. Dr. Spooner is friendly but did not appear to have read my file, suggesting medication that I have a documented allergy to.

Talented doctor with poor case management skills.
Strongly recommend going to a different doctor or medical office in order to receive decent basic treatment.

I went to see Dr. Linda Spooner in June 2006, after having previously seen to other Dr.'s who could not help with my health problems. Dr.Spooner took actual time to examine me and it turned out I did have a very serious illness. She immediately arranged the best possible medical care for me, even calling in personal after hours favours from other specialists. Since I had just moved to DC from the Great Britain I was surprised how wonderful and caring this Doctor is.The practise is very clean and the staff are highly efficient and very helpful. In the 3 years she has been my primary care physician, Dr. Spooner herself and her office staff have never been other than completely professional. I have had no trouble getting appointments, referrals, or prescription renewals. Dr. Spooner calls with lab results as soon as they are available. Most important, Dr. Spooner is an extremely thorough caregiver, asking questions about her patients' whole lives (I have referred many friends and colleagues to her practice) and taking time to answer all questions. I recommend her very highly.

After reading several positive reviews of Dr. Spooner??s caring nature and professionalism I was looking forward to concluding my search for a primary care physician. Unfortunately, her office staff was the antithesis. When will professionals learn that customer service begins at the front door? Is saving a few dollars per hour on salary worth ostracizing clientele? Here is a tip from a business professional to a medical professional: reception staff should be courteous, efficient, and well organized. Reception staff should not be flippant, uncaring or fretful. You don??t get a second chance to make a first impression and your people directly represent your practice.

I have been going to Dr. Linda Spooner for three years and she is by far the best physician that I have ever worked with. While her appointments do tend to occasionally run behind, it is only because she spends upwards of 45 minutes with patients - something which is unheard of in today's medical practice age. Her wait is well worth the personal attention and the experience of her caring manner. She is an excellent listener, and is one most professional physicians that I have ever encountered. I am a hospital administrator, and work with around 800 physicians each year.

To those folks who have complaints about Dr. Spooner, you must have gone on a bad day. In terms of wait time, I think its well worth being taken 10 - 15 minutes late for an exceptional doctor who spends an excessive amount of time with you. What that means to me is that when it is my turn she will take her time and not rush me out of her office to be right "on schedule" for the next person. In an age of decreasing reimbursements, and shrinking appointment times, Dr. Spooner is a doctor with old fashion manners, and cutting edge techniques.

I highly recommend her!

*To the person who complains below about the "poor transition" from her old office to new office - maybe you should take the time to ask Dr. Spooner why the move was so sudden before you publicly complain about it. I've never known Dr. Spooner to make any rash changes, if not for good reason.

I have only seen Dr. Spooner once and I remember her being through, BUT her staff is a big disappointment. I will not take the extensive time to discuss all my experiences.
Test result follow-up- Very poor!
Obtaining an appointment in a reasonable time- Very, very poorThe Transition to the new office- Very poor, unprofessional and unresponsive and no notice.

Dr. Spooner has a new office, and it's worth the transfer. She is a thorough physician and a clear communicator. She works diligently to make correct diagnosis, and requests the appropriate tests to confirm her in-office conclusions. She is an ideal doctor for professionals, who are looking for explanations of their medical issues, and who would like to communicate with their physicians in English, consistently. There is no separation between the doctor and the human in Dr. Spooner's practice.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Spooner since she was at GW. We cannot say enough about her caring, supportive and professional manner. Dr. Spooner practices medicine the "old fashioned way". She actually listens to her patients rather than herding them through like cattle. When I saw her recently, she spent almost an hour with me. Knowing that she takes time with each patient, I realize that she may run late. However, I am aware that she will spend that kind of time with me. I heard from her within 10 days after I saw her with my test results and recommendations for follow up. Dr. Spooner has recently moved into a new office. It is a soothing place.

Incidentally, her new office address is 2141 K St NW. The phone number there is 822-1240

We highly recommend Dr. Spooner

This is a retraction of the review posted on 4/12/07. I was very disappointed with the service received during my illness at the time of my posting the review. As of this date, Dr. Spooner and I had a heart to heart conversation regarding the details of my dilemma with her staff in their failure not to set up an appointment for me during my illness. In the past Dr. Spooner has proved to be a compassionate, devoted and a professional physician. It was unfortunate that her practice was disrupted -- through no fault of Dr. Spooner's. During this transition, she continues to search for staffing that meets her expectations. I wish Dr. Spooner much success at her new site. I am reconsidering obtaining a new primary care physician. I also appreciate Dr. Spooner's faith in God and willingness to take the time to talk to patients (me) with regard to the inadequacies of her staff during this transition period. I honestly believe that Dr. Spooner is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for her new and old patients. I whole-heartily recommend Dr. Spooner as your primary care physician.(Footnote) This retraction/edit to my 4/12/07 posting has thankfully permanently removed my initial review of Dr. Spooner.

One of the worst physicals I have had in a long time. Not only did I wait an hour for the exam, it was not thorough. Exam did not meet guidelines from my health plan for age group diagnostics. 3 months later, I am still waiting for the results of my tests. If you go to this doctor, hope you are healthy!

Dr. Spooner is, bar none, the best physician I have ever visited. She is my primary care physician and during my first visit with her was a physical. We scheduled a follow-up to review to review routing lab results and she spent over an hour explaining every line in that lab chart to me, even though I was perfectly healthy. She listened to my family medical history & explained to me how each disease should impact my decision of when to get tested for certain things. It was the first time I went to a doctor & felt like the physician really listened to me because I am generally a very healthy person & most physicians like to get me in & out. Dr. Spooner seemed to have an appreciation that as a doctor it was her role to explain things I may not understand, even though I am a professional. Every visit since that first one has been excellent. She is very detail oriented & makes sure that you have a written record of your medical history. To top it off, she is always very kind & a pleasure to visit.

PROS: Listens, Helps You Comprehend - EXCELLENT
CONS: If you drive, it's hard to park around 19th st.
