Dr. Sheldon Schechter

Dr. Schechter deals with mammograms primarily, and does them day in and day out, so he is an expert in the field. He has been doing this for many years, and is one of the best Radiologists in his field in Brooklyn.

This is not an office where you walk in, get your mammography done by a technician, and just walk out. Dr. Schechter examines each and every patient, after doing a wet reading on their films, orders additional films and views if he needs them or has any reason to suspect any problems, or if he does not like the quality of the films. He then comes in and examines the patient and tells them what he saw. If needed, he immediately will order an ultrasound then and there, or anything else needed, such as a biopsy of any suspicious areas.

This is a very kind and compassionate, caring doctor, and he is very reassuring to his patients. I had something that was sort of suspicious many years ago, and although he sent me to a surgeon, he was very calming, and reassuring that he was as close as humanely possible to being sure this was nothing, which it was, but still went on to have me go to a surgeon and for a biopsy.

Many radiology places are like factories or an assembly line. Here you know him, he knows you and sees and speaks to you personally, and allays any fears and apprehensions you may have. He makes a difficult examination very tolerable! .
