I must say that this company is funny but almost fair.... I had an account manager who was from HELL (William) but I lucked up and got Laurie.. Although she bugs the hell out of me she is fair and honest... not sure if I would suggest this

I have never experienced such harrasment in my life. Tracey has called my cell phone and home for over 20 times in one day. When she didn't get a reply she called most of my references and told them that she needed a contact number regarding my car payment. She drilled them as if they signed a contract. I told them because the car needed major repairs from the first 30 days that I was running behind but will not go over 30 days. This wasn't good enough which I understand. I agree with the other reviews you should go on and answer because she will call your job, your friends and the gas station attendant to find you but once you make a promise follow thru with it to keep her from telling your business to family and friends. Its embarrasing. You can avoid it by paying on time. You should never have a hardship when dealing with this company because they want their money. I haven't had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Cando. I hope that I will be on time so Im not the topic of conversation at the family reunion.

I financed my car with HRFC and can say that I have never had a better experience with a loan. The manager Mr. Rich was very helpful when I ran into a problem. I made my payments relatively on time and they reported my account to the credit bureau which helped me increase my credit score. If you need car financing and have had previous credit problems, use HRFC.

SHE LISTENED ASKED ABOUT MY ISSUE, CONFIRMED SHE HAD IT RIGHT AND PROPOSED A SOLUTION. SHE REFERED TO ME BY MRS., APPOLOGIZED THAT I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. SHE LAUGHED WHEN I ASKED WHERE SHE GOT THE TWO UPPITY ONES WORKING THERE AND SAID "SAME PLACE WE GET OUR CUSTOMERS, FROM REAL LIFE". I GUESS THATS RIGHT! I just got off the phone the lady manager. And what i had been dreading didn't come true. I lost my joband havnt kept up the car paments. i sent in what i could when i could and everytime i did i got calls saying it was never enough.
because it wasnot a whole payment.

i stopped answering cause i still aint got the monies.
well after tonight i am glad i talk to the manger. she called my gramma to get me on the phone, which made me mad but i see now she couldnt help cause i wasnt calling back. she gave me 2 referments for the pass due months so i could catch up.

I thought she would be all up in my face and busness and repo the car or threaten me the way others do but didnt. i explained she listened.

what she says sounds true and she is pushy but she cleard up my questions was not rude or mean even when she told me what she couldnt do or what could happen if i didnt do nothing.

SO........... TRUE DAT they really try to help if you let them.

I had credit cards, student loans, medical bills plus colections and judgments. I paid (most of the time) but on MY schedule not neccessarily the companys. Every company put that on the credit report. Not one, not a single one of the credit comapnies ever took time to say "you can pay late if you want to we'll make more money off you!" Hampton Roads Finance did. They said right up front in the paperwork that they were giving the loan not beacuse I was a good creidt risk but in spite of the fact that I was not. The paper with the contract said right on it "we care how you pay and expect you to pay on time or call Before you are late" When you talk to the people at their office they say the same thing and I respect that. I have been late and benn on the "dark side" , I guess hearing the "lecture" all those time must have sunk in because calling in before hand if I have a problem DID MAKE A DIFF I learned - these people are for real, and want to be on my team. Paying on time meant making ME wait (not the bills) when I was out of money NOT spending my bill money on date night or whatever.
I want to buy a house some day and that means "bad credit/bad house or no house" OR "good credit/nice house" SO I read the others saying the loan company is mean or heartless. They havent been so far to me. But I have $12000 of their money. I am paying it back - I'm not the guy whining about why they owe me 16 options to pay them back, or the lady whos mad because she couldnt skip her car payment to buy xmas presents or the other crazys who don't knnow the diff between the car lot and the bank. "sales people nice!!!/loan people mean!!!" give me a break. The salesman would kiss your dogs butt if it meant selling the car! The loan company never even met me and paid down $12k. What's mean about that?

If you can get past the "account collectors" that work for her and get right to Ms.Cando you will get respect, courtesy, fairness and most importantly RESULTS. The assistant managers Pat and LaVern are "chips off the Cando block" also.

Skip the "B team" - AMANDA = whiney, small minded, rude. LORI = Loud, rude, smart mouth, rude, MEAN (did forget rude?) WILLIAM = weasel, nasty, likes to be mean, rude.

If they call and are not nice ask to talk to the manager Karen Cando. Or call her receptionist 431-9942.
She is honest and will work with you in person or on the phone - IF YOU work with her. I started off yelling @#$%$# at her because of Lori. Ended up calling her back - twice to tell her I was sorry for ME BEING RUDE. She didnt take it easy on me, I had to explain all of what was going on. When she was done I knew exactly what was expected, what the "rules" were and several options (none of the options included the "R" word).

I totally pegged Karen wrong in the beginning. When I was yelling and swearing she wouldnt have any of it and told me so. What she said made sense and definately WORKED OUT FOR ME! I signed up for the NEW FLEXIBLE PAY auto payment she started in 2009 and it has been great! No more calls because I am late. My landlord told me I should either marry her or have her adopt me, LOL. Because of her my rent is straight too!

Why dont they ever pick up the phone?? I have been calling got 3 hours trying to pay my car paymant. the last time I called they told me that they didnt take CC payments anymore and that I had to use a check....So I went and seeked high and low for a check...(really who has checks??) so I couldnt find one, so I call back 50 times and no one picks up.......call back and hour later still no one. Then I call back again and the attandant transfers me to the acct mngr and I get her voicemail... By this time Im like WTF!!! OMG where are you guys?? So I call back still know one is home....then finally I get someone....I tell her I cant find my checks but here is my acct number and R#, and a check number....she is like NO, I need and real check. it has to be right in fromt of you...So Im like what dfnc do it make I mean its not like im putting it in your hands. why cant I just give you the info...she just wouldnt take it. Now I have never been late, I pay on time every month, you dont take my normal payment witch is CC payments b/c you cant afford to pay the fee, so now you cant take my checking info....wow. You want me to money gram it.... I dont think so. I mean I gave up, I still havent paid it yet I m just going to have to waste my gas and drop it off at there office. So I call back still know one is home....then finally I get someone....I tell her I cant find my checks but here is my acct number and R#, and a check number....she is like NO, I need and real check. it has to be right in fromt of you...So Im like what dfnc do it make I mean its not like im putting it in your hands. why cant I just give you the info...she just wouldnt take it. Now I have never been late, I pay on time every month, you dont take my normal payment witch is CC payments b/c you cant afford to pay the fee, so now you cant take my checking info....wow. After missing my September payment due to illness, I began receiving daily calls from HRF telling me that I was late and that they intended to come and get the vehicle. I am more than willing to make a double payment to get caught up, but was told that if they did not have the payment by 10/15/08 that she would have no choice in how the auditors would choose to handle my account. I was also told that I broke the law by moving to another state and not notifying them the day after I moved. I was told that I defaulted on my loan by moving the vehicle across state lines without written permission from them. I am just hoping that they will accept my double payment and not come to take the vehicle. I will never recommend that anyone else finances a vehicle from these idiots. While trying to talk to customer service to set up a payment, I was told that being in the hospital does not excuse me from making payments and is not an excuse that they will accept.

Reading over this review by other customers, I learned that Hampton Roads finance company isn't even a seperate company than Hall. That is very misleading to think that they don't do in house financing when in away they actually do. I wrote this to Hall after my experience with them. I was mislead to think they were a seperate company as well.

I had a very bad experience with Hall Pontiac and Hummer and will never buy a car from them again. You don't try to get over on people inorder to get commission. I would like to think people are humane enough to make judgement calls, even when it calls for going over your call of duty as a company. I bought my car back two days after driving off the lot and was told "the way I see it this car is yours", by the financial manager. I was told I had a contract on several occassions and was told I didn't on others. It was up until the seventh day that I was told this information. This was after bringing the car back in two days. The financial managers job is to make sure you can afford what you are buying and give you the best options without being objective. I learned that this is not particularly so at Hall.

The car was certified, as they stated, but the rotors and the breaks on the car were bad. After driving the car around it was racing, like the transmission had problems. The windows rolled up when it felt like rolling up. I drove off of the lot with a cerified rejection sticker. I am a single mother and needed a car, but shouldn't have gone over my head. That is why so many people fall in debt, but after the sale it isn't anyones problem, but yours. Even within two days of getting the car.

I have been a customer of HRF for two years. My experience with their sales team was awesome and very friendly. As well as there customer service dept at their main location I found the young ladies both to be very nice and friendly.

As fas as upper management for example: I found one lady and one male to be extremely Rude. You could tell that they needed people skills. One of my first question to them was this company primarly work with High Credit Risk customers. Threrefore when you give a customer another chance why are you so short tempered with these customer. I rate Hall Automotive on a scale 1-10 a 10 ( Upper Management one or two people make it bad for the rest 2. Customer Service people on the phone and front desk help desk a 10. I had a bad experience in working with these two individual but I won't say that HALL itself is bad just their selection of Collection Representative and Management. Would I buy from them again Not Sure... Not if I have to work with Collectors with NO PEOPLE SKILLS or answer to solve a problem for the customer and the company they work for. I have been a customer of HRF for two years. My experience with their sales team was awesome and very friendly. As well as there customer service dept at their main location I found the young ladies both to be very nice and friendly.

As fas as upper management for example: I found one lady and one male to be extremely Rude. You could tell that they needed people skills. One of my first question to them was this company primarly work with High Credit Risk customers. Threrefore when you give a customer another chance why are you so short tempered with these customer. I rate Hall Automotive on a scale 1-10 a 10 ( Upper Management one or two people make it bad for the rest 2. Customer Service people on the phone and front desk help desk a 10. I had a bad experience in working with these two individual but I won't say that HALL itself is bad just their selection of Collection Representative and Management. Would I buy from them again Not Sure... Not if I have to work with Collectors with NO PEOPLE SKILLS or answer to solve a problem for the customer and the company they work for. Cons: Not knowing how to make a credit risk client their best customer for next purchase

Recently I legally changed my name. Although I have submitted all court documents pertinent to the name change. This company consistenlty refuses to use my legal name. Payments made are still under the 'old name.' Creating a difficulty in establishing credit in my new name. The customer service personnel are petty and vindictive, to the point of also refusing to change the date of payment. I do not recommend this company to anyone at anytime. Customer service is crucial in the finance business and these folks treat you as if you have been privileged to use their service. The attitude should most certainly be opposite. A good company can only stand on its good name via customer service. As this company does not know the meaning of the word, I certainly will refuse any future dealings with this company. And would strongly caution anyone considering use of this company.

Pros: Willing to finance people in a tight situation

Cons: Extremely snobbish and consistently offers very poor customer service
