Terrible company! We were scammed just like so many others! They conned our Maint. Sup. into receiving FREE light bulbs as a thank you for being valued customers. We then received an invoice of $400 for 30 bulbs over 30+ days later! When we tried to return them they stated we were past the return time frame and they wouldn't accept the shipment if we sent it back. They then said they would offer a "donation" of $125 to help towards the bill. RIDICULOUS! Stay away from this company, would give them a 0 rating if it was possible.

I'd just like to add our personal experience as I'm seeing everyone else has experience a similar situation. The same pattern happened at our office. They called asking for a maintenance man that hasn't worked here in years - said they were returning a phone call. When informed he no longer worked here...they then inquired about "any" other maintenance man because they were returning a call from our maintenance department. The name was given and TA-DA! A week later...our free light bulbs came via Fed Ex Ground. The invoice in the packaging slip is blacked out so there is no price. As the manager of the community, I called LDI to inquire about this mysterious package they have sent us. I was informed that the price of the invoice is $433.24 for 120 light bulbs. I told Dale Williams from LDI that nobody ordered these bulbs and will be sending them back. Unfortunately, because someone signed for the package (not the person it was shipped to) Fed Ex won't pick it up without LDI sending a return slip.

I called LDI to inform them that they would need to send a return label for me to send their bulbs back. They are refusing so thanks for the FREE light bulbs!!! You know...Christmas is right around the corner...so we're glad you're in the giving spirit!

What a scam! My company never ordered anything from them yet they sent any way. When I called to refuse they tried to offer me the product at 50% off. If you look up the same product on HD supply you can get for a 1/4 of the price. What a bunch of scam artist. I read the review and totally laughed as I told the customer service department this when I called yet they swear to be a great ethical company and would not do business like this. WTF how can such a company be in business in this day. Where is the Goverment when you need this for this type of scams. Oh fighting someone elses war!!

As a former employee..if they did in fact inquire and find out your maintenance supervisors name as the salesman do on a daily basis offer a catalog free gift and just before hanging up say i'm sending you out a shipment sample as well. Keep it all. According to Federal Trade Commission rules they don't follow cold call sales rules and can never collect a penny from you. They may send you an at length letter..mention the FTC and the BBB and I bet you get those return shipping labels (call tags) or better yet if it is within 10 days of receipt of the shipment call fedex back to pick it back up,,say signed for by mistake....or likr I said keep it,,its free they can never litigate..they have no Rubenstein and Rubenstein on retainer its all a lie..their names aren't even real..That was a job requirement to have a fake name for both lion distributing and royal chemical corporation..they are a scam and thats why i no longer work there I felt guilty doing this to people..sorry guys..

They will get the Maintenance Supervisors name and number from office staff or from the voice mail as they did this time, and leave a message with their 1800 number and extension number. They say they need to confirm a part number. They have stopped using Lion Distributing and use LDI now. They always try to find a way to send something, (even if you don't order) to you and then charge you a restocking fee. Or they offer to give it to you for 1/2 price. I have contacted the Maryland State Attorney Generals office in the past and after today's contact am, going to contact them again. Every time they contact me I tell them I will be reporting them to the Attorney Generals office and they back off and remove the name of the property for a year.

On Monday we received an order for fluorescent lamps from this company. I called immediately because I am the bookkeeper and we did not need any lamps. They said the maintenance man had placed the order and they had his name on the packing slip. When I asked the maintenance man about it, he said that some lady named Michelle called and asked if she could send him a catalog and he said yes. The order totaled $419 and they would charge us a 20% restocking fee if we sent them back. The sales manager, Derrick Lewis, offered to let us have them for $150. These lamps aren't even a size we can use. Thank God I read the reviews on this website because there was a maintenance man about to lose his job over this.

This company called our business asking for the maintenance supervisor. Although we work for a large property management company, the on-site staff on this property is small. I called 800-966-6809 and asked for Greg Weiss - who does not speak English very well, who could not tell me why he was calling, or what the business sold. I asked hard questions and all Greg kept saying was maybe he called the wrong number, that he would have to ask his boss. when I asked to speak to his boss he told me he wasn't available. I told Greg to remove our number from his call list, that it did not matter what he was selling or why he was calling - we are buying it, because we do not do business with companies, who we take the time to call back, that tell us they didn't know why they were calling us in the first place. Warn all of your staff, that answer the phones to be aware of this company and other companies that can not answer basic questions - most companies that are scamming do not leave numbers, they always offer to call back. Lion's website looks professional - but from what I have read on the web; they are far from being professional.

This is the most unethical company I have ever had dealings with!!
Someone from their company called our maintenance man who only speaks a little English. He did not understand that he was ordering any lights, and was completely surprised when this box arrived. (When calling their company, their notes showed that he did not speak English well, yet they sold him a product anyway). The bulbs received were clear and we don't even use clear bulbs! The total cost was $399.80. The owner of our company did not want the lights and told us to return them, that he was not paying for them. Upon calling the company, they wanted to charge us a restocking fee, then they wanted us to pay for shipping the product back. Our boss refused to pay anything. Derrick Lewis who was calling us constantly for payment, tried to negiotiate with us by offering us the same product at half price, then even lower than that. Finally he agreed to take the lights back at no charge, but we would have to pay for the shipping back. Since the owner of the company did not even want to pay for that, I, as the property manager instructed my staff member to take the package to UPS and send them back. Unfortunately, my assistant did not do that right away but thought she had. (She no longer works for our company). I keep telling Derrick Lewis that the lights had been shipped back (which I thought they had) and he kept saying he didn't receive anything. I did not know what to believe and because our boss was not going to pay anything, and they had not received their lights, I chose to do the honorable thing and negotiated with Derrick Lewis, and paid $100 of my own money with my personal credit card. Then, suddenly our old employee brings in the box of lights. I immediately contacted Derrick to inform him that I now had the lights and I would ship them back immediately and upon receipt, could they credit my credit card. Bottom line, they now do not want their lights, or they would charge us $79.00 for a restocking fee, plus we would have to pay for the shipping. It would cost the remaining $21 to ship them back. Now that they have my $100, of course, they won't issue me a credit. I believe in Karma, and they will hopefully get what is coming to them. NEVER, EVER, USE THEM. NEVER GIVE THEM A CENT!! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID IN TRYING TO MAKE A BAD SITUATION RIGHT AND MAKING THE PROBLEM GO AWAY. I can't say enough bad things about this unethical company!!

A representative from this company called our mainteance employee asking if we were interested in light bulbs. Our employee said NO. However, the light bulbs were sent to us anyway and now the company is demanding payment. This happened in March of 2010. We never ordered the lights and we should not be required to pay for them. on October 28th, a rep from this co. called my maintenance man and stated that they supplied the original bulbs for this apt building. The rep offered him a case of 60w bulbs for FREE if we would consider using them as our supplier for bulbs. My maintenance agreed. On Dec. 16 or 17 we received a call stating we had to pay for the bulbs that arrived on 11/2/2010. This was the FIRST time we heard anything about paying for these "FREE" bulbs. A rep. from this company has been berating my assistant manager insisting we owe for these bulbs. We stated that we would gladly return them as this was not the verbal agreement of "FREE" they offered our maintenance tech. He said that the invoice says returns only in the following 10 days from shipment received. This is accurate. Only problem is- we didn't receive the invoice until December 17, 2010. WELL past the shipment date. This is a fraudulent business practice. I told the rep, Derick Lewis, we will gladly ship the entire box of unused bulbs back. I also spoke with his "general manager" who I told the same thing too. They are trying to charge us $401.80 for the "FREE" bulbs that in the HOME Depot catalogue only cost $92.86 for the same case. This is wrong and unethical. I feel they preyed on my maintenance man. English is his second language. I feel they tried to bully my assistant and I feel they are dishonest. We will send the bulbs back- just send the call tag.

READ ON: He spoke quickly, stating he had received a call from my company with an order for parts and light bulbs and he was simply trying to track down who placed the order. He said most likely it was the maintenance man who called the order in. In order to determine who placed the order, I asked more questions. The salesperson became irate, asking to speak to my manager and asking me if I spoke to my husband that way. I then called Lion D. to complain and spoke to a rude receptionist who has obviously never heard the words 'Customer Service'. She transferred me to a manager by the name of Jack Morgan who, when he heard the story - said the employee would be fired. When I asked him the employees name and for proof that this had occurred his statement was 'I'm not promising to do anything'. BEWARE this company is RUDE, OBNOXIOUS and NO ONE should do business with them.

Review written on 11/11/10 Lion Distributing called and talked to my maintenance man and told him they wanted to send him a knife to show their appreciation for our business. They sent the knife and 30 light bulbs. I called them and told them that we didn't order any bulbs. We have one light on campus that takes the kind of bulb they sent, so I know my maintenance man did not order 30. Later I got a bill for $412.60. I sent the bill back with a note on it saying I was not going to pay it and if they wanted their bulbs back they could send a call tag. I'm sure I will hear from them again, but I'm not sending them a penny.

the owners have made millions. This type of b.s. has been going on since the early 70's. It will NEVER stop. As long as there is turn over and a lack of internal control (in businesess) they will always make a buck. There are billions of places for these guys to call. It is all done via the phone. One guy sells, one guy confirms, one guy ships...

As a former employee, i agree with what the other former employee said!!! All you have to do is keep the product and refuse to pay for it!!! They wont do anything but call and try to get you to keep it for a discount! NOTHING ELSE!!! I PROMISE! SERIOUSLY!! lol

We are a business in NC that have been battling these guys for months. They called one of my maintenance techs on his personal cell phone and we started receiving $14 lightbulbs and $12 cans of wasp spray. I have contacted the BBB in that area and registered a complaint. They are big time scam artists. They have called our corporate office on us, as well, even though I told them I was on to them and would not pay for this stuff. Hopefully, I can get them off my back.

We are a business in NC that have been battling these guys for months. They called one of my maintenance techs on his personal cell phone and we started receiving $14 lightbulbs and $12 cans of wasp spray. I have contacted the BBB in that area and registered a complaint. They are big time scam artists. They have called our corporate office on us, as well, even though I told them I was on to them and would not pay for this stuff. Hopefully, I can get them off my back.

Horrible! I have received 9 packages from them, none of which that we have ordered!!! We send them back then the next day we get another one! DO NOT use this company, or Royal Chemical. They are both the same people, customer service is rude, telling me that they are not in the habit of sending items that haven't been ordered...ha! I just can't say enough bad things about this company! oh well, my corporate office is taking them to court, I'm sure that they can settle it there =)

As a former employee of Lion, the way you put them out of business, is to actually BUY the bulbs and never pay. When they call to collect tell them you are calling the FTC and BBB and your keeping the bulbs. If 500 - 1000 companies do this they wont be calling anyone!

Definitely a scam. I'm not sure how places like this continue to operate. The government seems to step in everywhere except where it is needed. Ridiculous.

These guys will do everything they can to con you and make you purchase their things. The have called all of our businesses making it seem like to our staff they are authorized and telling them what they use when we don't even use that product. This company is VERY VERY Deceitful! Stay far far away

Called our company and asked for a Maintenance person, when they got this person on the phone, they said they wanted to verify information on an order. This was the first day for this employee and he verfied the shipping address. A few days a order for bulbs arrived and bulbs were very cheap and when the bill arrived they were for 3.00 per bulb for bulbs that sell for less than $.40 apiece retail. Watch these people. Internet is full of their scams

This vendor will call businesses. When you answer the phone they ask the name of the person calling. Then then have to verify the business address. A couple of weeks later you receive package that you didn't order. From this point it becomes a complete hassel in order to return the package. Then Lion Distiburting will harrass you in regards to paying the invoice. By law you don't have to. The vendor is in violation of FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) Act 16 CFR Part 310. Keep the product, use it or throw it away. However they will continue to call looking for payment. The way they stay in business it to put the invoice on hold for six months to a year. They will then call after a lengthly amount of time in hopes that large Corporations have high employee turn over and someone will eventually process the invoice for payment. Keep your paperwork in order and keep good notes, hopefully these worthless businesses will eventually get whats coming to them. Fraud Alert!

Lion distributing is a company of con-artists. They prey on businesses by slowing collecting names of personnel and shipping merchandise claiming an employee authorized the shipment. They will continue shipping and billing until they are sued in court to stop. Pray they never call you.
