Komal was our salesperson and she was wonderful to work with! We had a custom ring made, that was what we had been looking for ! The workmanship on the ring by Windy City Diamonds, and the assistance in picking "our" stone with Komal was very direct and easy! We had been to quite a few jewelers, and had seen our fair share of diamonds. We felt overall that the quality and pricing was a good value. In the end, the ring is more beautiful than words can say!

It was such a great experience with the difficult decison and details of diamonds and settings for an engagement ring. I was so happy with the variety of unique engagement ring designs. We will always have an awesome story to tell about our engagement ring experience because of you! We visited your store once and found the perfect ring in a case, but three months later my wife and I tried designing a custom. Komal worked with us very closely designing it, and when we went to meet with her, that same ring we saw earlier was still in the case- it was meant to be! My wife constantly gets compliments on it. After doing some extensive diamond research, I shopped all of Jeweler's row for over a month. People tried to pressure me, sell me overpriced ugly diamonds, and tell me that they had the best prices in Chicago. And then I met Gary...

Gary @ Windy City is the consummate professional. The price,quality,selection, and service were phenomenal. Gary and his staff are the best and most knowledgeable in all of Jeweler's row. There is absolutely NO pressure and you will be sure to walk out extremely pleased!

Fantastic staff! Sarah was awesome! She spent 2 days with my husband as he tried to design a ring (God bless her). He ended up putting a beautiful diamond in a simple setting, and we got to go in together to design a one of a kind ring....after he surprised me! We have since gone back to get our wedding rings, an antique ring refurbished, and necklaces for all the bridesmaids. I even changed my mind on the design of the necklaces after they were made, and it wasn't a problem (even after they shipped them to me in Texas!) Beautiful diamonds/pearls etc., and the most knowlegeble staff I have ever encountered. Sarah always recognizes us when we walk in (w/o an appt)...even 6 months later! We are not jewelry experts by any means, but they are very patient with us and explain everything thouroghly. I never feel like I've been screwed over by price or product....very very fair. Obviously there is a reason they have been in business for so long. My husband and I have already decided that when we move away from Chicago, we will fly back to go see Sarah at Windy City for our jewelry needs. Best customer service I've ever had in any industy. Go see Sarah!!!

We were on holidays to Chicago from Ireland, Windy City Jewellers was recommended through a friend. Made an appointment to see Garry to design my ring and went through details of what I wanted my engagement ring to look like, he was very patient and took all my ideas into consideration. A few days later I went to pick up my engagement ring and was delighted withit, was exactly I pictured!! Thanks Garry- Will definately be taking a trip over again to get our wedding bands ***

My (now) husband and I passed by Windy City and decided to stop in to give him ideas for an engagement ring. We met Sarah and immediately I knew she would help my husband design the perfect ring. I wanted to be surprised but there were some must haves I wanted to make sure he knew about:)

Sarah gave me the confidence that I would love my engagement ring and almost 2 years later I can honestly say that there is no other ring (not even the ones in magazines) that I like better than my own.

Doing business With Windy City Diamonds has been a great experience and makes the drive from the suburbs worth the time and effort. After making a ring and a necklace from pictures on another company's ad, and then making them better at less cost than the advertised one, they couldn't have made me happier with their results. The salesperson I dealt with was extremely helpful, realistic, and no pressure. I'd recommend Windy City to anyone and have done so repeatedly among relatives and acquaintances. If you want a good deal on diamonds, don't want to deal with rude or pushy sales people, and want good results, call them. My wife has been extremely pleased with everything I've purchased from them.

I always wanted to get a special gift for my milestone anniversary so my husband surprised me with a 1K princess cut solitare...it was exactly what I wanted!

We highly recommend Jim at WCD! He has given us excellent customer service and advice with a cherished estate piece. We had it sized and the shank widened. He made sure we loved it and that it was done right. We have recommended him to our parents for a new piece and they were blown away by the quality and bargain Jim gave them. Windy City Diamonds is definitely the place to go if you are looking for Tailor-made, Excellent Quality at a Great Value . . . . . . . I didn't want the A-typical ring that you run across on the hands of every 10th person you see; I wanted a ring that said, "I WAS MADE ESPECIALLY FOR YOU" and that is what I got. Gary Zimmerman was able cojoin my fiance's budget and the vision in my head to become a reality upon my hand. Gary treated us as if our budget was limitless and designed a beautifullly handcrafted ring, of impeccable quality, personalized just for me. If any of you are like me you want to get that special someone a ring that she is going to love and treasure not just initially but for the rest of her life. I would assume that if you are reading this you are doing research and trying to find the best place, well look no further. I went straight to Gary and right off the bat he waited at least 45 minutes after closing to meet with me. He was professional and knowledgable, but more importantly NOT PUSHY! He asked me what I was looking for and asked my price range. Once he had that information he proceeded to bring out diamonds that fit my specifications and were within my price range. My fiance is more than thrilled with the ring as am I. Don't waste your time with jewelers that mark up their product so they can put out more ads and commercials or charge you more because the ring or ring box has nothing more than a name on it. Forget "He Went to Jared" and "Go to Gary"! Gary You Are the Best, Thank you Very Much

My fiancee found a beautiful setting online. I have my grandmother's diamond, and it's a vintage cut, so we knew we'd need the setting custom made. We also tweaked it a bit from the original design. However, before getting it made, I wanted to try on a similar setting. It's very high, and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't snag or be uncomfortable. However, we couldn't find a single jeweler, in Chicago or in the suburbs, who carried anything like it! We tried everywhere we could think of, until my mother recommended Windy City Diamonds. She told us how great Garry is, and was she ever right! He spent a huge amount of time with us, and made us feel like we were the only people in the store. We showed him our pictures, at which he point he told us to wait, went into the back, and came out two minutes later holding our dream setting! He listened to all our ideas, and sketched out the changes exactly as we wanted them. (He's a great artist- take a look at the cabinet he painted with an underwater scene!) He even made a quick wax model for us to look at right there. Before the ring itself was made, he emailed us a beautiful rendering so we could do a final approval. Not only is Garry a great guy running a fabulous store, he had exactly what we wanted when nobody else did!

When beginning my search for the perfect diamond and setting for an engagement ring, I looked at several Jeweler's Row stores and highly recommended suburban jewelry boutiques before coming across Windy City Diamonds. The difference between Windy City and the other stores was immediately apparent to me the moment I called to set up an appointment and spoke with Komal. Whereas other jewelers were hesitant or unable to gather together a large selection of loose diamonds for viewing, within just two days, Komal was able to show me several that I found on their website's inventory and even brought out a few more based on my size, cut, and clarity preferences. Additionally, she was never pushy (unlike other stores I visited) and was happy to help me narrow down exactly what I was looking for without trying to sell me on a more expensive diamond.

After my initial visit, I did more homework and looked at diamonds listed on other Jeweler's Row stores' websites. To my surprise, Komal was able to quickly bring these in for me to view, and she even surprised me with a couple of additional ones (matching my specifications) that weren't shown on any of the websites.

Throughout the whole diamond selection and ring design process Komal was tremendously patient with me and never tried to hurry me into a purchase. Admittedly, I'm a perfectionist, and I took a very long time to choose a diamond (including repeated viewings of the same two or three). However, Komal never grew frustrated with me (though I certainly would have!) and remained dedicated to helping me find the perfect diamond and build the perfect ring for my fiancee. To top it off, when I finally did "pull the trigger," Komal was able to work out a very reasonable price for me. Komal and the rest of the very friendly staff at Windy City made an otherwise stressful process an enjoyable one, and my fiancee was thrilled with the quality of the ring!

I stumbled upon Windy City Diamonds after wasting my time in Jeweler's Row. The service at Windy City is second to none. I felt like everyone at the store knew my name and was happy to help me. I was helped by Sarah Duprey and I cannot find one bad thing to say about her. The attention and time she gave me was unbelievable. She listened and then made great suggestions. I couldn't be happier with our purchase. Obviously, after I purchased our engagement ring we went back for our wedding bands. With service like that how could we not? They can make anything for you. My fiance walked in with a picture of a ring from a magazine and they were able to make exactly what she wanted. I can't say enough about them especially Sarah. I searched all of Jeweller's row looking for that special diamond ring to melt my love's heart away. The conversations I had with most of the stores I stopped at seemed very cold and impersonal, as if buying a diamond was merely a business transaction. Although it kind of IS a large financial transaction, Gary Zimmerman from Windy City Diamonds made the entire process personal, reassuring, and quelled my anxiousness. With the state of the economy right now, affordability and quality was very important to me, and Gary took the time to explain to me what I was spending my hard-earned money on, and patiently offered me different options within my budget. Within 3 days, I had my engagement ring in hand, and needless to say, it is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks Gary! I definitely will refer you to everyone who is looking for a diamond ring to celebrate their love.

My story starts in February, when I first contacted Garry about a ring. I told him that I wouldn't be purchasing until at least August, and he was more than willing to accommodate me via email from across the country. We wrote tens of emails back and forth deciding on engagement ring. After three months of not emailing (due to my job), I was finally able to meet Garry at Windy City Diamonds. At first I was concerned with how relaxed the store looked - it was casual and didn't have the classic stuffiness of other jewelers - but I was put at ease when Garry met with my girlfriend and I. We played with different settings and looked at different diamonds. Garry gave my girlfriend the basics of the 4 C's, diamonds were new to her. He was patient and really began to understand what she wanted. Turns out our emails were right on. And the best part was, when it was time for my girlfriend and I to leave, I told Garry I'd be in touch with him and we shook hands. No pressure, no guilt. Just a pleasant conversation about diamonds and rings. It was very professional and personal at the same time. I visited again by myself 3 days later and decided to buy the ring we talked about building. He told me it usually takes 10 business days, but I needed it sooner than that. I don't know what kind of strings he pulled but I picked up the ring 4 days later. The ring was absolutely STUNNING. Some time after I left the store Garry called me back and told me that I left my credit card at the store. I was stuck in traffic and needed it for dinner that night. That's when he blew me away. He said that he would drop off my card at the restaurant I was going to so I wouldn't be late picking up my girlfriend. That was exactly the kind of service that I would hope for from a ma and pop store and would never get from a chain. I was blown away by the service and the value of the ring. Garry has an excellent store at Windy City Diamonds. You won't find a better experience or product in Chicago.

I found the person at the other end of the phone very pushy, asking what kind of diamond/ring I wanted. I don't know that yet and I found her manner disappointing.

I bought my fiance's engagement ring here, and they did a great job! I had a general idea of what I wanted, but was still throwing some ideas around when I went in. Within 10 minutes of coming in Komal, the sales woman I worked with, had come up with an idea that multiple jewelers hadn't even come close to! Then, to add to it all, their pricing was far more competitive than anyone else around. They even worked with me to find the maximum value for my budget. They were never pushy or arrogant, and they always made sure I was happy with what I was getting. They also were willing to ship the ring out of state for me so I could avoid paying the hefty Chicago taxes!

I would recommend Windy City to everyone!

After shopping around, I decided to purchase an engagement ring for my fiancee from Windy City Diamonds. Actually, it was easier to decide where to purchase than what to purchase. I did my research and visited a number of highly rated and well reviewed jewelers, but once I met the kind and knowledgeable people at Windy City, I stopped searching. I'll amplify other reviews on Citysearch and other places -- great selection, fair prices, knowledgeable, honest and no pressure. Komal assisted me throughout the process. She is wonderful to deal with and highly recommended. The others at Windy City were all very polite, and were more than willing to provide me with their opinions when I requested. I could go on and on, but if you're looking for a jeweler in downtown Chicago, be sure to visit Komal and Windy City Diamonds. My experience with Windy City Diamond was excellent. I looked at a bunch of different jewelers throughout the Chicagoland area (including Jared, Robbins Bros, etc.) and ended up finding Garry through the FindMyJeweler website. After meeting with Garry Zimmerman from Windy City, I knew right away why they were so highly recommended. Garry was thoughtful and attentive to my needs. I knew the style, approximate size, cut, etc. that I was looking for in the ring and he was able to draw from an extensive stock of diamonds to find just the right center stone for the ring I was looking to create and fit within my budget. On top of that, he was able to build a custom setting based upon what I had seen at another store and deliver in a short time frame (less than 2 weeks from when I released him to build). I couldn't be happier with my experience with Windy City and Garry and would recommend them to anyone looking to create a great engagement or wedding ring. I will definitely be going back to Garry for our wedding rings.

Windy City Diamonds are the best diamond dealers in the greater Chicago area. I looked all over the city and suburbs (e.g. Tiffany's, Cartier, Jared's along with many other diamond dealers along jeweler's row) and I was not satisfied by these other dealers in terms of education provided, service or selection offered. Fortunately, I was referred to Windy City Diamonds by a friend. The staff at Windy City Diamonds, especially Komal, were fantastic. I sat down with them and they went over with me all the characteristics about diamonds and features of an engagement ring. They listened to me and were responsive to my questions. Komal's energy and excitement made the process of choosing a ring fun and exciting. I was not intimidated or pressured one way or the other. After I picked out an ideal diamond, I brought my parents into the store. Komal greeted my parents and once again was patient in answering their questions. We selected a diamond ring and the ring was prepared for me in less than one week, exactly like I wanted. I proposed and my fiancee said yes. She loved the ring! I highly recommend Windy City Diamonds without any reservations...ask for Komal!

I came to Windy City Diamonds with a very vague idea of the type of setting I wanted. Like most guys, I was fairly clueless. Fortunately for me, Rick from WCD was there to help along the whole way. He patiently asked me what I wanted, what I liked, if I had any pictures, showed me different settings - everything I asked for, and even more. As we discussed what I had in mind, he drew out sketches of different designs that helped me envision the final design. The whole time, he offered advice and suggestions - all in a sincere, non-"salesman-y" type manner. When we had a sketch that looked like what I had in mind, I was emailed a CAD (computer assisted design) image of what it would like. After that, I came in to look at the wax model of it. After that (you can see the level of service here), I came to pick up ring - and was amazed - exactly what I wanted.

The final product was wonderful! My fiancee loved the ring, and we've received many compliments on it. I would recommend Windy City Diamonds to anyone looking for an honest, friendly, and enjoyable place to buy one of the most important purchases you'll make.

We drove across three states to visit "Chicago's Jeweler's Row" in search of the perfect diamond at the perfect price to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We were planning to replace the 3/4 carat center stone in a 3 stone diamond ring with a 1.5 carat. We'd done considerable research and enjoyed learning about the whole cutting/grading processes. We visited many vendors along Wabash and in the jeweler's mall building. After two days of searching we found the perfect diamond at Windy City, rushing in as they were closing - they were so gracious and patient! They had shown us a few, and had gotten a few more for us to look at later, one turned out to be the perfect stone for us. Both Komal and Garry were wonderful, patient and not high pressure at all. We received the finished ring yesterday and it is breath-taking! Thank you Windy City, we'll recommend you to anyone looking for diamonds!

My fiance (then boyfriend) and I walked into Windy City Diamonds looking for engagement ring styles. Kamol greeted us with a smile and gave us a whirlwind of choices. After being so overwhelmed with choices we took a step back and began sketching a couple of ideas that we had. We both felt at ease with Kamol and never felt rushed or pressured. We decided to custom design a ring. We had heirloom diamonds and didn?t know if we would be treated differently because we would not be purchasing a main diamond. Kamol was excited to work with us and use our diamonds. We decided on a design and the wax was done in days. The ring was completed a week later and it is absolutely beautiful. The ring was our exact vision. Every time we left the store, we both commented on how great Kamol was. There were no high pressure sales and no overbearing or hurried encounters. My fiance and I highly, highly, highly recommend Windy City Diamonds and encourage you to speak with Kamol.

It is very rarely that you find someone who really really loves what they do! When you find them its only fair that they get known for it. Komal at windy city is perfect for that title! Komal genuinely loves what she does and that shows up in her excitement about everything she says or does!

My coworker (who bought a pair of earrings from this store in December, as an anniversary gift) came back and kept telling me about how he was really happy with the entire purchase and especially the salesperson who sold it to him. I was ready to propose and was actively looking for a diamond(both online and in several trips that i had made to several downtown jewelry stores).

I went down to this store in January and kinda forget which exact person my coworker was talking about. I was however greeted and started working with Komal who i discovered after a few minutes was the same person(just based on how her personality was described to me). She showed me several diamonds and was extremely informative without being overbearing. I chose the most perfect stone for my Cathy. The next part was the most important for me- Designing a custom made ring to fit the stone and my budget. She is a talented designer and while we were talking she started drawing different sketches which helped me come to one that i absolutely loved. A few weeks later, after looking at a wax and a casting, i had the most perfect ring to take to the top of Hancock, She said YES!

The best thing for me was that i felt absolutely no pressure or 'selling' through the entire part. Working with Komal also felt like someone was 'with' me through the entire process. Like a friend guiding you through.

My husband Paul had been saving up for a gift for me for our 10th anniversary, and I decided I'd like to have my engagement ring remade. I searched many places, and then came across Windy City Diamonds on City Search, and saw the video with Garry. I was very impressed with what he had to say, and went in to discuss with him what I'd like to do. I have to say what a wonderful and creative person Garry is, and how patient he was going through the process of creating my ring with me. He had wonderful ideas, and was so easy to work with--what an absolute pleasure. I just received my ring today, and I am THRILLED!! My husband and I have bought several pieces from Windy City Diamonds and we continue to be thrilled with the jewelry and service that we get there. My husband originally bought my engagement ring there and since then we have been back for our wedding bands. We have also referred friends and family with nothing less than rave reviews. When we go in they treat us like family. While the inventory in the cases might look limited, we have found that they can do anything we can imagine. My husband shopped around for pearls this Christmas, only to wind up back at Windy City. They located and showed him gorgeous unstrung pearls within minutes and strung a necklace and bracelet to his exact specifications. On Christmas day, I was not only surprised - these pearls produced the biggest "WOW!" of any gift he has ever given me. There are many reasons that Windy City won jeweler of the year on CitySearch: in terms of quality, service, and price - there is simply no equal in Chicago.

I never thought much about what kind of engagement ring I wanted, so when my boyfriend unexpectedly proposed (sans ring, since he wanted us to pick one out together -- my kind of guy) we were left pretty darn clueless as to next steps. We had a generously donated diamond, but how to go about finding the right setting? After some pretty basic internet research, we headed to Windy City on the strength of their reviews.

Gary Z. was helpful, informative, and patient...which was good because it turns out I really, really did not know what I wanted. He never once tried to "sell" us on anything, or rush us along. In fact, after sketching out a possible setting based on my requirements -- platinum, solitaire, thin band, and "not sticky-uppy" -- he encouraged us to go out and look at other jewelers and to have fun with the search: "This was your first stop," he said. "All I ask is that I'm also your last stop."

Well, after a wide range of experiences (from mob front to Tiffany's), we returned to Windy City. We had a much better sense of what we were looking for, and nowhere in the city had we come across someone as patient, focused on what we wanted, and apparently sincere as Gary. Never once did he say "Oh, yeah. We can do that. No problem." Instead, he explained exactly how he would do what we were asking, and sketched things out to illustrate the process for us.

Two weeks later, we stopped by to pick up the ring. Comfort fit, three quarter bezel, platinum. It looks fantastic -- simple, elegant, not "sticky-uppy" -- and fits perfectly.

Do yourself a favor if you are in the market for a ring: look at as many other places as you have energy for, and then go to Windy City. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My grandmother left me a ring after she died. While the diamonds were beautiful, the setting was not. I have always hoped that the diamonds could be used in my engagement ring someday.
This dream became a reailty with the help of the staff Windy City Diamonds. I was initially nervous about trusting these special stones to strangers. My boyfriend (now fiance!) and I went down to Wabash and luckily the 2nd store we walked into was WCD.
I was soon put at ease and was shown how they would make the design I wanted.
When I finally got to see the ring (after the proposal) I was mesmerized by the beauty of the setting.
I am in love with my ring!!!
We plan to go back to WCD to get our wedding bands done.

My husband recently bought my beautiful engagement ring at Windy City Diamonds. Initially, we were going to purchase my ring from an on-line jeweler, but in the end did not feel safe making such a large and important purchase without seeing the diamond and the ring in person. So he gave me a budget and let me shop for the ring I wanted. I did not like how I was treated at the couple of mall jewelry stores I visited. After much research and shopping around, I was recommended to WCD through a website entitled FindMyJeweler. I felt like a valued customer from the get. After an email exchange, I met with Garry Zimmerman, who is professional, kind and patient. He took the time to show me various diamonds in my price range (and color and clarity range I had in mind). Actually, I was able to pick from a new batch of even better priced diamonds than the ones I had printed from their on-line inventory. I was thrilled to be able to see exactly what I was buying and enjoyed the process immensely. I even changed the setting I had in mind originally b/c it did not look good with the wedding band I already had, and it was no problem. One of Garry?s staff members showed me other settings, including her favorite - which is the one we bought. The sample was in platinum and I wanted 14k yellow gold with platinum prongs, so I custom ordered my ring and picked it up a few days later. I absolutely love my ring! The diamond is brilliant and full of fire. It exceeded my expectations, and I have gotten tons of compliments!

I highly recommend shopping at WCD and have already spread the word to family and friends. Garry and his staff provide great customer service with no pressure. Garry has even been prompt to answer some questions I have had after I picked up my ring. I hope to return soon to custom design a wedding band for my husband (since he doesn't seem too fond of the ring I bought him - not at WCD:)

I recently bought a tennis bracelet from Windy City Diamonds. I found WCD to be the perfect solution for the difficult task of purchasing diamond jewelry. Their knowledgeable staff help educate me and allowed the perfect selection of price, quality, and beauty. They have an extensive inventory and even offered to customize my selection if needed. I left feeling totaly satisfied with my selection and purchase. Garry helped me and I couldn't have had a better experience. Now if they only sold new cars !

I've had nothing but great experiences working with Garry and the other personnel at Windy City Diamonds. I recently had my engagement ring re-designed by Garry ,and the outcome is fabulous. I have a one-of-a-kind piece that draws compliments wherever I go. I've also bought diamond tennis bracelets as gifts for my daughters, and they love them! When I go to Windy City Diamonds, I'm treated like a valued customer.

Windy City Diamonds is my jeweler. They are the cheapest and most custom of anyone I have met in the past. I bought my engagement ring here. They did not have exactly what I wanted so I found a picture online and printed it off. I gave it to them and they created it exactly how I imagined. My wedding ring Windy City didn?t have also. I was looking at the mall and found a wedding ring I loved so I took a picture of it and brought it in to them. They ordered it from a catalog and then used that one as a sample to create mine to fit my finger. Because of the shape of my fingers they also rounded the inside of the ring just slightly so it is easier to take off. I also bought a blue topaz pennant from another jeweler for $350. I was shopping for earning to match it and at my other jeweler they were quoting me $425 and it wasn?t exactly what I was looking for. I went to Windy City Diamonds and they created the exact stone to what the style I wanted for more than half the price. I told them I will never go to another jeweler again for diamonds or other stones.

At WCD you also get amazing creativity. You watch your purchase as it becomes yours. It is designed with YOU the consumer in mind. How will the piece look on you? What is your price point? When you pick up your jewelry you know it belongs to you. It was created for YOU. It is wearable art made with love and personality. What more could you want from a jeweler?

I went in with some loose diamonds to see about having a ring designed for me. They were very creative and came up with some terrific ideas which actually made the stones look far more substantial than they were. They are true artists and the ring was not only unique, but stunning. (The price was very fair too)! My experience was so positive and I felt I could trust them to do a great job, and they didn't let me down. They wanted to make sure I was totally pleased with the ring and I will definitely go back in the future. The entire experience from start to finish was 100% positive.

Perfect experience! They were as patient as could be while explaining details along with backgrounds of the stone I was interested in. The design crafted by the owner as a setting was unbelieveable. No questions about it...the pricing, service, and commitment could not have been matched any where. I shopped long and hard and this establishment had all others beat. Beautiful craftsmanship, staff, and ethical management like I've NEVER seen.

My husband and I are in the process of having a duplicate wedding band made to match my existing one. We too, shopped around to approximately 5 other places on Jeweler's Row and ultimately found Windy City Diamonds to be the most welcoming, friendly & pressure-free. After some of the other jewelers had given us widely varying price quotes and size estimations of my current diamond ring, Komal at WCD carefully re-measured each of the 7 diamonds on my existing wedding band and explained to my husband and I how a diamond is measured. Their price was the second lowest we found, but we felt so much more trusting & comfortable with WCD - I can't wait to pick up my new ring next week!

Down to the detail, Windy City Diamonds did an amazing job customizing and designing my engagement ring. It was our first time making such a big purchase on a diamond, but we were not pressured at all. I was so impressed with their patience, knowledge, and easy-going attitude. We will definitely use Windy City Diamonds for all of our future jewelry purchases. We are definitely recommending them to our friends!!!
