Bella Skin

I have been getting my Brazilian wax from Chani (now co-owner) since she started at Bella Skin a million years ago when it was under management of it's first owner. After changing ownership once and losing it's charm a the hands of some insane people, Chani and her partner Trina bought the place and have restored the integrity that made me a loyal Bella Skin client in the first place.
I live in Brooklyn and make it a point to return to Newton, MA every six weeks for my wax. It may seem extreme given that there are plenty of places to get waxed in NYC but I can tell you that the Jay Sisters have nothing on Chani and Trina!!!! They give me a perfect wax, virtually pain-free thanks to the wax they use, each and every time!!!!! Thanks ladies!!!!

Pros: They don't double dip their sticks, warm & wonderful staff.

Cons: They are in MA, I live in NYC yet I still get waxed there...

I love this place beyond belief.... Everyone is so nice and friendly- they always try to accommodate crazy schedules...I questioned leaving the review because I feel like the place is my hidden secret but I felt it only fair give the girls credit for their beyond exceptional service!!

Trina is amazing -- I have been going to her for nearly two years for everything from head to toe waxing - to facials

Bella Skin is great! The relaxing, nicely decorated atmosphere makes getting a not-so-enjoyable waxing more than bearable. The entire staff is friendly and helpful and parking is never an issue. I recommend this place to all my friends!

Prior to a vacation last month I booked a last minute appointment with Chanti for a full leg and brazillian wax, based on the glowing review on this site. I could not have been more pleased, not only was the experience as painless as waxing can be but I was smooth in just about 1 hour! When I am getting a pedicure I want the time to last and last, but as we all know with waxing the experience should be as efficient as possible & it was.

Unfortunately (for me), the crew must be on vacation this week and I was due for my 4 week appointment. I decided to go elsewhere. Even though I paid a little less, I got what I paid for! I am bruised, burnt and the skin on my calves is peeling!!!! And the torture lasted over 2 hours!

Never again will I leave Bella Skin without booking my next appointment! Thanks again Chanti, I'll see you in 4 weeks!

I had never been brave enough to go for a Brazilian but, for my wedding and honeymoon, I wanted to do something special. I read the reviews about Bella Skin and got up the nerve to make an appointment, fully expecting some amount of pain and suffering. I could not have been more off the mark.

When I entered the spa, I was immediately absorbed into the clean, relaxed atmosphere. The women there were very kind and put my worries to rest almost as soon as they spoke. As for the actual experience, it could not have been easier. Something about the kind of wax combined with her technique... all I can say is that I will definitely be going back knowing there is NOTHING TO FEAR.

I had the Brazilian bikini wax last Saturday and it was the best one I've ever had...and I've been to some of the well known salons specializing in this service in Los Angeles. The technique applied by the girl who did my wax was less painful because she did not use strips, and she was thorough. The setting was very relaxing as well.

Pros: Exceptional brazilian with less pain. Priced right.

I am 9 months pregnant and now past my due date. I went to see Nicole at the recommendation of Chani who I've been going to for years. I have had plenty of massages and let me tell you Nicole was amazing! She gave me a prenatal massage which basically means that you lie on your side as opposed to your tummy and back. The pressure was perfect, the room was the right amount of light, the music was soothing and the bed was heated! Oh, it was bliss and if I could give Nicole 10 stars in this review I would. She was excellent and I recommend that anyone should go to her. She used to teach massage and knows exactly what she's doing!

I go to Chani every 5 weeks for my brazillian and she is the besttttttttt!!!!! It doesn't even hurt. If you can stand a little pinch, then this is nothing!!!!!! She's so personable and charming and the salon is beautiful, clean and the staff is sooo amazingly sweet. Not snobby or stuck up at all, like many of those wannabe posh spas on newbury st. I went to Violet's spa and my experience there was awful. This salon is top notch!!! Best of all, there's ample parking and the place is pretty easy to find, since I make the drive from the north shore to Newton every month. takes 20 mins. on the mass pike.

On my way to my first appointment at Bella Skin I got completely lost. Convinced my appointment would be canceled for showing up late, I called the spa and informed them I would be ten minutes late. Not to worry, they gave me directions and I finally arrived15 minutes late. At any other spa I'm sure I would have been turned away but Bella Skin was nothing but accommodating. Trina is excellent, I had my first bikini wax with her and she was professional, friendly, quick and (almost) pain free! I was expecting an uncomfortable experience, because of the nature of the appointment and the fact that I was running so late, but experienced quite the opposite. This is quite the gem. Thank you!

I am one of those people that see's mascara as necessary on a daily basis and those glue on eyelashes as something to spend an hour applying before going out on the town. So naturally, when I began hearing about these new semi-permanent eyelash extensions it peaked my interest. I did some research online to find out the details like where you can get them, how much they cost, and how much time it takes. I initially hesitated because of the price, then realized that I would often spend more getting my hair done, both the lash extensions and the hair highlights last for about the same amount of time. I also had noticed since I began wearing contact lenses mascara would dry and get caught in my lenses, which if you wear contacts, you know how much that hurts. So I decided to give the lash extensions a try.
I set up an appointment at Bella Skin in Newton, I had seen their website among others and thought that having a comprehensive site is important. I was to meet with Ashlee their resident esthetician. Ashlee thouroughly explained the procedure, like how she would apply lashes of different lengths to my own lashed using a black adhesive to give a natural look and reviewed the aftercare instructions. What struck me was how comfortable an environment this was, and how during our hour long session (she is a true pro-when I inquired at another spa they said it would take two hours!) Ashlee was so knowledgeable about skin care and willing to give advice about it. I felt that she truely cared about the outcome of the extensions and my overall experience that day.It has been a week since I got the lash extensions and have to say I am completely sold. No more mascara, no more eyeliner, the black adhesive give the appearence of a thin line of black liner which I absolutely love. The lashes are in great condition and I have not had to take a contact out to clean during the day in a week. This was SO worth it!

I've been getting waxed by Chani for several years now and it has always been a wonderful experience. She is both professional and very kind and she makes a potentially uncomfortable event really pleasant. The spa itself is clean and lovely and Chani does an excellent job with anything you might need (facials, waxing, etc.). I would highly recommend Bella Skin to anyone looking for a (relatively) painless waxing experience!

This is the best place I've found so far to get a Brazilian wax. The people are so nice and welcoming and the wax is SO much less painful than anything I've experienced before. They use a hard wax so there are no strips involved. It's really sanitary and very warm and welcoming when you enter. The only thing is that it's really hard to get to by public transportation. If you are coming from the city you have to take the green line to Newton center and then walk about 3/4 mile to the place. Okay, I've done this three times so you can see how worth it it is to go there... they're that good. They are a little bit pricey (I think their price went up to $60) but if you want a great, easy, and painless Brazilian with experienced staff it is worth paying a little extra if you have the cash.

Last time I went was a couple years ago based on reviews and this is out of the way for me. Recently went to Newbury Day Spa and it made me think back to Bella Spa. The girl at Bella was very friendly, reassuring, talked the entire time to keep my mind off the pain, and she explained the procedure. I have no tolerance for pain, but I could said this was definitely a lot less painful than I had anticipated. Maybe it was the wax and her procedure. It left me smooth, but I wish she had gotten the area between the bum. I was quite disappointed and called back. She said for me to return so that she can finish it, but I had enough for my first. Also, She left wax all over that area that she missed as well. Newbury Day SPa was very thorough and cheap but MORE painful and less comfortable. Newbury Day Spa left broken capillaries all over the area as she didn't apply pressure when removing the wax. Maybe I'll go back here and just make sure they do a thorough job before I leave.

I was really worried that it was going to be awkward, but when I walked in and saw how cozy and relaxing it was I felt fine. I felt so comfortable because everyone there talks to you like they've known you for forever. The staff at Bella Spa is really educated and know what they are doing. I highly recommend going here!

After a long search for a real massage i finally found a place. I am a construction worker and my back was aching and painful so i decided to give a massage one more chance. I went to BELLA SKIN and had a great massage from Nicole. She made my back feel 100 times better and she knew exactly what she was doing. It was a deep tissue massage and it was the first time i actually got what i was supposed to get in a massage. I will never go anywhere else even for me to go to the trouble of writing this review which took me over 30 mins should tell any guy out there with sore joints and muscles to look no further.

I had never gotten a wax before, but I wanted to and a friend finally convinced me that it would be worth it. I expected pain, suffering and embarassment. Luckily I did some research and found Bella Skin...Trina was FANTASTIC!! She was totally professional and just chatted the whole time so it totally took my mind off of how awkward I felt at first. The wax they use must be a miracle, because even as a first-timer I felt very little pain. It didn't take long (maybe 40 mins) and was very reasonably priced at $60. I'm definitely going back!

I have skin like a movie star thanks to Bella Skin (and it only cost me $85 bucks). I have had many facials and i did a little research on spas in Boston area via Citysearch and read alot of positive reviews about Bella.THEY ARE TRUE. I had a great expereince my esthetician was an Irish Lady called Trina. She was very throuogh and professional. My skin has never looked so good and people compliment me all the time. Ask for the Glow facial also the massage she gave me was so relaxing. FANTASTIC place....

I recieved my first facial yesterday by Chani. It was the most amazing and relaxed I've felt in awhile. I will never go anywhere else for any of my skin care needs and I'm glad I chose Bella Skin for the first time experiance. Right when you walk in you feel like your at home with such a relaxed atmosphere and smiling faces.

I recieved a facial and eyebrow waxing from Chani. It was the most perfect way to conclude my April vacation. The moment I walked in the place I was taken back by the sweet and enticing aroma of the products, candle light, and soft colors. I felt at such ease, and could of spent the day there. The facial was fantastic. My skin is glowing, and I can't stop telling everyone how great the whole experience was. Perks of the facial were the arm, hand, and neck massages. Painless extractions and waxing. Chani and I had a great time chatting during the facial and she allowed quiet time to relax and reflect as well. I will be back next month! Thank you Chani it was delightful.

So basically i read all the reviews and did my own research about Bella Skin. I went for both brazilian and a facial on the same day!! It was a Saturaday since i work all week so i figured it would be a nice treat. When i arrived i was shocked to see such a cute spa. It is very homely and comfortable. I had my appointment with Trina and she was great. (She also has a great Irish brogue) She explained everything so clearly as it was my first ever wax. So told me what to look out for and what was normal. I felt very comfortable considering that i was getting waxed before i knew it, it was over and she said lets continue with the facial next. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT IT WAS VIRTUALLY PAIN FREE!! Then i had a Bella facial and it was one of the best ever so relaxed and thorough. My skin feels great and my brazilian has no razor bumps like i use too..Go to Bella to get your own experience..

After a horrible experience at another spa in Cambridge about a year ago, I vowed that I would never get a Brazilian wax ever in my life, even though I really liked the idea of them and thought they were hot. I just figured that I couldn't handle the pain or awkwardness and accepted my fate. However, after having lost a bunch of weight, combined with a trip to Florida coming up in April and some very strong encouragement from my boyfriend, I decided that I would give it another shot and suffer through it. Thank god I found this place! They were able to schedule me for the next week. I explained on the phone that it was my first Brazilian and that I was a little nervous, and the woman on the other line said, "Oh, don't worry about it, I'm Chani and I'll be your esthetician. You'll be fine." I felt immediately better. When I got there I felt comfortable from the start. Chani and I chatted like two friends over coffee, and she really eliminated any awkwardness for me just because it's immediately apparent that it's no big deal to her. And the wax they use there is a miracle--I've had basic bikini waxes since I was 15, and ironically this Brazilian was among the least painful of any waxing experience I've had (Chani said the wax forms a barrier between itself and your skin, so there's no pulling on the skin itself, just the hair... it's science). As the most dreaded part was nearing, I was getting nervous, but then my nerves melted away when Chani said, completely nonchalantly, "Alright, now we just have your bum left and you'll be all set." How can you be nervous after the dreaded part is cutely called "the bum?" You can't be. :-) All in all it took about 25 minutes, and when she was all done she smiled and said, "And you just got your first Brazilian, girl." I scheduled my next two appointments then and there. I think I might be one of those girls who takes up permanent residence in Brazil, and it's all thanks to Bella Skin. Thanks!

Being a size 18 woman I found it difficult to get over the initial embarassment of having my first Brazilian...after all I thought it was strictly for the skinny girls. But after reading all of the reviews and having a friend tell me how pleased she was with her Brazilan I made an appt with Bella Skin. Chani instantly put me completely at ease. Reassuring me all along that size was immaterial in treating yourself. Of course there was *some* pain...you are having her rip the hair out of your fun places, but it was minimal and went away quickly. I have been going there for over a year and continue to be impressed by this salon. I live an hour away and occasionally arrive late and she is always so understanding. The Salon is relaxing,always clean, and everyone is very professional and Super friendly. Get there a few minutes early and get a cup of tea..it definitely gets the relaxation started.

I HAD THE MOST PROFESSIONAL AND RELAXING MASSAGE AT THIS SPA. I RECOMMEND MASSAGES BY CHANI, ESPECIALLY THE THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE. I RECENTLY MOVED BACK TO BOSTON AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT THIS SPA MY FIRST PRIORITY. SPAS IN OHIO LACK THE SAME SKILL AND SPECIALTY AS THOSE IN BOSTON. I first went to Bella last year, after reading all the positive reviews on citysearch. I am happy to say that Bella lives up to its reputation. I have had both facials and waxing done there, and each esthetician I've visted (Linda, Chani, Trina) has done a great job and has been easy to talk to. They offer advice and tips without making you feel like you're doing something wrong. Over the years, I have been to several spas, including ones on Newbury Street, but Bella is the one I keep returning to. The staff is friendly and treats its customers well. There isn't any sales pressure to buy the products, which I appreciate. I've been nothing but pleased so far, and look forward to trying some of the other services in the future.

I am new in the area and I do admit that I did alot of research into the spas around the area. So I found Bella Spa. I didnt know what to expect when I booked my appointment because I was unsure of the type of facial I needed but the receptionist gave me some tips. I was suprised when I reached Bella spa because it was hidden away. (which is a good thing) My estheticain was an Irish girl called Tina and I was so impressed with her. She was so friendly and very informative about skin care. She was very thorough and i really enjoyed the experience. My skin feels great and has never glowed like this before. Try the Cloud 9 Facial!!

I never take the time to review services I've received in the past, but I felt compelled to do so because of the excellence of this salon. My esthetician, Chani, executed a painless (as painless as it can be) brazilian wax. I was concerned as to my threshhold for pain since I was 7 months pregnant and, presumably, more sensitive to pain. But, that proved to be untrue. It was ten times better than waxes I had received in the past. Chani is very professional and makes you feel comfortable. I plan to get one more wax before the big delivery day.

I am a Veteran Brazilian waxer and i've lived all over the country, therefore i've experienced the best and the worst waxes. My experience at Bella Skin was by far THE BEST BRAZILIAN WAX EVER! The brazilian wax wasn't entirely pain free, but it was significantly less painful than any brazilian I've ever had...the staff was quick, efficient, personable, and very professional. I have very sensitive skin and had no problems after my wax. Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to try out the rest of their offerings. I just moved into the area and this was the first place that I tried, and luckily I won't have to go anywhere else! Check this place out!

OMG!! This is the best place on earth for Brazilian wax! If only I had found this place earlier!!

I'm a veteran of the painful, bleeding, akward Brazilian wax but I figured that being completely bare would have its price. Obviously that's not the mantra of Bella Skin. This was my very first pain-free Brazilian! Trina (my esthetician) was an absolute doll. She put me at ease, we chatted up like old pals and I cannot stress this enough but I didn't feel a thing with the waxing. Trina attributes it to the wax that they use. I don't care what it is, it got me completely bare without an inkling of pain. I will never go anywhere else again for my Brazilians and I HIGHLY suggest giving Bella Skin a try. If you're like me, it'll be love at first wax!

I had opposite experiences at Bella Skin with waxing and facials. I had never had a bikini wax but wanted to get one because I was going on a tropical vacation. The staff at Bella Skin made me feel very comfortable and to my surprise the bikini waxing wasn't really painful. I also had an upper lip wax which was great because I didn't get a rash that I ususally when waxing because of my sensitive skin. I highly recommend it for waxing! However, I went again for a facial and was very dissapointed. I asked for deep cleansing but the esthetician barely spent any time on it. I felt like she just scrubbed my face, put a couple of different products on me and sent me off. Not worth my money.

I went to Bella Skin and had a wonderful experience! I arrived to be greeted by this young friendly girl. I then was introduced to my esthetician who was warm and inviting. I had only had 6 facials in my life, but this was amazing. I felt cozy and comfortable throughout. Once the facial had ended i felt my face and it was soft and glowed. I am now a bella client and enjoy going for my monthly facials. Thank you Bella Skin for the wonderful experience!

Bella Skin is by far the best bikini/brazillian wax you're going to get in the city. You can get there on the T so it doesn't matter that they're in Newton. Tawney does mine and she's so friendly and good at her job that you seriously don't have the discomfort that people associate with bikini waxing...they don't use strips and they do it pretty cheap, $50 for a brazillian is unheard of in most cities. 100% recommended.

The ladies at Bella Skin are very professional. I've never had a brazilian wax before, and they made me feel very comfortable. They swore that the pain would'nt be so bad, and they were right! they use the hard wax method, which isnt supposed to pull the skin. I had Chani, and she was great. She made me feel comfortable, and explained what she was doing at each step. I can't say enough about how professional she was. And the atmosphere was so relaxing. I can't wait to go back for a facial.

Good place to go if you are in dire need of the "green wax" Brazilian. Good week night and weekend hours. This is a place to go if you want to be taken care of quickly-they wax very quickly. The spa is clean and the girls are friendly.

If you are looking to have a brazilian waxing done, this is the place to go!!!!!! Very relaxing atmosphere and understanding staff. They make you feel comfortable. I have been seeing Sandra for the first couple of times. She has been excellent though she is leaving. The last few appointments were with Chani and she has been excellent too. She is friendly, cool, professional and she knows what she is doing. I would definetely recommend Chani. I'm very satisfied customer and you will be too if you choose to come to Bella Skin :)

I have had problem skin my entire life and been to all the best facialist in Boston for the last 15 years. Linda by far is the best! She is great with extractions and never leaves redness or broken capillaries, my pores have srunken to normal size, and I no longer have oily acne skin. Another bonus is that she not only focuses on the facial, she goes above and beyond to assess your life style and homecare routine. She gives excellent advice on foods to eat, ways to stay healthy, and how to take care of your skin at home. The experience is clearly worth the cost of a facial.

I have ben visiting Bella Skin for about 6 months since a friend recommended it. Sandra gives a quick, clean and PAINLESS wax, using a hard wax that adheres to the hasi, not the skin. It peels right off with strips. Chani is wonderful as well. Prices are in line and appointments are honored within a few minutes. A great spa.

I have been going to Bella Skin for about a year now, and cannot say enough good things about it. It is my home away from home! I have been to so called high end spas across Boston and Manhattan, and Bella Skin is far and away the best, for all types of services. Sandra does my Brazilians and eyebrows (Candyce fills in when Sandra's booked or on vacation), and Bethanne gives the best massages. It is the type of place that is small enough so you know everyone and feel completely relaxed and comfortable, like you are chatting with your girlfriends! And the best part is that you are not just a number here, you really feel like a valued client. And - there's zero pressure to buy products. I love this place.....

I had never gotten a martini delight before (aka brazilian) and was very leary of what I might be subjecting myself to. Sandra immediately made me feel comfortable in a situation one could never imagine being comfortable! We talked and laughed and before I knew it, the waxing was over and I had had my 1st brazilian, virtually painless. Since then, I go back regularly and have expanded the services I get there. I won't let anyone else touch my brows but Candyce, and I sometimes see her for my martini delites when Sandra is booked up. The spa atmosphere is homey and relaxing at the same time. I feel like I am treated like an individual instead of just a customer with a dollar sign on my head.

I have to say I have been to many upscale salons, but the thing that I enjoyed about this place was the atmosphere and how friendly everyone is. You fell like you were chatting with one of your girlfriends. As for the Brazilian, Sandra does an amazing job. It seems so easy when she does it like 1-2-3 & your done. It's true Sandra has a way of making you feel comfortable, must be that california girl in her. I have been seeing Sandra now for 2 years and believe me she knows what she is doing. So take it from me, if you want a great waxing see Sandra. You'll thank me :) !!!

Bella Skin is an amazing place run by three talented and friendly women.

Sandra is the queen of Brazilians and makes the awkward, and painful experience seem like a breeze. She uses a hard wax, not the strips, and she never tweezes!! She has her own method to remove stray hairs that is much less painful. I'm not going to lie, it still hurts, but it's definately not as bad as it could be.

Candyce is hands-down, the best brow artist I've ever been to. She will always shape your brows to your individual style and face shape. She really knows how to frame your features!

Bethann is the massage therapist, and although I've never gone to see her, I can only assume that she is as talented and friendly as the other women!!

Bella Skin is the best kept secret in the Boston area!

Bella Skin is a wonderful spa. Sandra is great. She is always energetic and fun. Her knowledge and skills are top of the line. Great environment, great services, great staff.

I've been going to Sandra ever since I started getting ready for my wedding. She has done a fabulous job with my facials, brows and the Brazilian. She's always enthusiastic and a pleasure to see. She makes you feel right at home. Even though I've moved, I still make the 30 minute drive to see her. I'd never go anyplace else!!
